Can Clomid & Injectables be used simultaneously?

Good Morning Ladies!

I will be speaking with my RE about this next month at my consult, but am curious to know if this is possible. I have always had a response to the higher dose of clomid, but have never made more than 2 follicles. On injectables (Follistim specifically), I made multiple follicles, but only 1 matured. Since we are dealing with MIF, my RE would trigger me with no more than 4-5 mature follicles

I am questioning whether or not it would be productive if I took a low dose of clomid, in addition to a low dose of follistim, in the hopes of producing multiple mature follicles. My RE monitors me very closely (I have bw & sono every other day), so I know they will trigger me the second I have follicles that show they may become mature. Reason for my concern, is because last cycle I stimmed for 14 days and only produced 1 mature follicle. And because of the MIF, we would like to have more than just 1 or 2 chances of pregnancy.

Has anyone ever done this before? If not clomid, has anyone ever done Femera with Injectables?

Thanks!

For my last iui cycle I started 5 days of femara then moved on to injectibles, follistim. Using both got me the best and quickest response. On just clomid/femara alone my cycles were very long and only produced 1 follicle. With the combo of meds I got 2 follicles and had my iui on cd13,14.

That's good to know, I wasn't sure if this was a common practice.

That is my issue as well- in the end I respond and make a mature follicle, but it takes me a while to get there. And I wondered if because it took so long to mature, that the quality of the egg wasn't as good as one would be in a "normal" cycle, and this could be one of the reasons why all of my cycles have never resulted in a pregnancy.

I have to redo my annual bloodwork again in June (my third time doing this Chat Icon), so I will speak to my doctor then.

I honestly believed that the cycles that didn't work were because it took sooo long to get a mature follicle, I also noticed my lining wasn't as thick on longer cycles.

Good luck with everything, I hope your RE is open to the clomid/follistim cycle.

I took 5 days of clomid and then three injections of bravelle. That was my second IUI and I'm pregnant with twins now.

I hope I have the same success as you ladies because I'm starting clomid tonight for 5 days and on the 5th day I'm introducing follistim. Going for the HSG on Wednesday and back for monitoring on Thursday. Wasn't expecting to begin a new cycle so soon, but it just worked out this way Chat Icon

Good luck to you! I just found out another friend got pregnant on her first IUI with Clomid and Follistim. I hope you have the same success.

Absolutely! For some reason the only way my body will produce multiple follicles is if I am on Clomid and injectables at the same time.
