We have both a LG front and top loader.

The front loader uses less water and you don't have to worry about uneven loads. However, you can't soak items in the front loader (at least not in mine), which is why I like the top loader...so I can soak/bleach my towels.

I also can't wash waterproof items (rain gear, many plastic items) in my top loader, but I can in my front loader.
