For those that have painted kitchen cabinets, what brand/type of paint did you use? Thank you.

Re: Painting Kitchen Cabinets

I stripped, sanded, and stained my cabinets. I used General Finishes pre-treater, stain, and topcoat. My cabinets look awesome, everyone thinks they are brand new and they are the original cabinets that were put in when the house was built in 1969!! It was time consuming but worth it.

Prior to staining, we had painted them BUT paint does not last as long and chips more easily. The stain is much more durable and even if you get a little wear, you just swipe some stain over the area and it looks brand new again which is something you cannot do with paint.

My husband sanded ours and we painted them with a white Sherwin Williams Glaze.

ETA: We did them 9 years ago and they haven't chipped yet.

We used the Rustoleum system. No sanding required. Not difficult but it takes time
