Re: Anyone else have NO CLUE as to what they're naming their child?

my first name is UBER popular. it gets annoying after a while. It's like it's lost it's ability to be a 'pretty" name...it's just what you hear every 10th girl you meet.
Totally agree, which is why I also want to try to stay out of the top 100 most popular baby names.
I think once we find out the sex, we'll focus more on choosing a name.

Re: Anyone else have NO CLUE as to what they're naming their child?
US! We had one girls name that we loved and gave it to Victoria.
There are names we like - not LOVE. And I have this thing that I am not a fan of any name that is too popular right now, although I have a feeling we'll end up using one.
I want to love the name like I always loved Victoria. I also have to like the nickname which then discounts many other names we are considering because I am not happy with the shortened version.
Who knew it would be this difficult to name a child?

Re: Anyone else have NO CLUE as to what they're naming their child?
um, since we were told at the ultrascreen that the baby was most likely a boy, we called "him" everett for 8 weeks.
turns out it's a
and we have NO idea what we're naming her. we've mulled over SO many names and for some reason (hormones, perhaps? ) i hate every one.
so for now we're taking a break from the naming process. we figure we have at least 100 days to come up with something

My daughter's name had been in the top 10 and honestly I didn't care. I picked it right from the Bible. I don't follow trends, I follow traditions.

It could be worse. I found out I was having a boy @ 15weeks. We pciked a name that night. I and everyone I knew called the baby by that name for the whole pregnancy. The DAY I was going in to be induced, DH decided he did not want to name him that I picked a few out that I liked and we decided when we saw him.

I was in the same situation. We didn't start seriously talking about names until I was 36 weeks. We went through a baby name book and made a list of names we liked. After rejecting most of the names on each other's lists, we had 4 boy names and 3 girl names picked out. We didn't decide on DS's name until right after he was born.

my DH has to be THE most pickiest person ever. he doesn't like ANYTHING. we agreed on 2 names but he's still aiming for a name i don't want for our first child. we won't actually pick until the baby is born so we can see him, but i'm getting a little annoyed. i just wanna pick it already haha

But now I feel kind of - I don't know - weird about it because I feel like everything's all settled and we still have four months to go!
I have to be honest- eventhough i'm frustrated over the name situation, i *am* kind of happy that there's still that unknown factor... still something to talk about and decide.
But, i still want name resolution.

Re: Anyone else have NO CLUE as to what they're naming their child?
we have no clue either.. i dont LOVE any names.. and the ones i do DH hates.. we narrowed it down to 4 possibiliities... but dh and i love different names! should be interesting... but i still say we narrow it down to 2 (which i think we are very close to doing at this point) and then waiting to see what she looks like before settling!
i hate telling people the 2 choices because then they tell us their opinions and nothing is ever positive.

Joe and I had a name and no matter when we get pg again if it's a boy his name is set for traditional reasons. A name is much harder we *like* a lot but just could never see it. I'm hoping if we have a girl someday that we'll get a little time to meet her and give her the right name. HTH

Re: Anyone else have NO CLUE as to what they're naming their child?
it was tough... the easiest thing to do is just start trying to say the name out loud. use it in sentences, write the full name out..and you start to eliminate alot faster...
the name we ended up going with DH actually picked- and i had said no to- but then i came around on it, and i really love it now... maybe the name your husband is using you can make as the middle name?
