Issue is, my DD is getting close to 12 so I wont' even have that as a protection from it anymore.
If enough protest and resist and bring this to light we can stop it!
This! We as parents need to resist and fight back. If we remain complacent bills like these will absolutely pass and then our kids will be the guinea pigs.
This! This is what I’ve been saying since 2019. What happened on that year, would create a ripple effect throughout time that would affect all of us...provaxers, antivaxers, and everyone in between. This is the bigger picture we were trying to show everyone 2 yrs ago but unfortunately many didn’t care to even listen.

I know I'm very cynical and I hate to say it, but I don't think it matters. The entire state could protest on this asshole's doorstep and they will still pass whatever the hell they want. I'm really starting to feel we have no say. In anything. It's very disheartening.
It does matter, I promise. Not with a small group of people but with big masses, it can def cause impact. It has happened in other states and it has happened in other countries. Don’t lose hope, at the same time we must become active. We can’t rely on others. If we don’t do what must be done, nobody else will.

It is horrifying to me that I may potentially be forced to put something into my child's body that I am not comfortable with. I got the vax. I did feel some pressure to do it (and now thanks to NY new governor I would have been forced anyway since I am a teacher.) I am not anti vax by any means. My children got their shots when they were young without any problem. Those vaccines were time tested. This is just too new for me and not enough known how it could potentially affect children (or adults for that matter) down the road. I'm kind of sick over it all. Very scary times.
I'm literally terrified of this. Terrified. If they want to force me to get it fine- I'll deal with it. But my child. Who isn't even fully developed. Who hasn't even hit puberty. Who if she got Covid has a 99.9 percent chance of being fine... I have to give her a brand new vaccine with who knows WHAT long term side effects on her fertility, her breasts, her heart etc. A vaccine that doesn't even work properly to begin with and where people are getting sick with Covid left right and sideways even after being vaccinated. That needs to still be perfected quite obviously. I am sick to my stomach. I honestly can't even think about this because it puts me in a very dark place. So I'm going back to the horses and flowers threads now...because if I think about this too much, I'll need a Xanax
Sadly I can really relate to these feelings.

I agree. It's easy to see how some people feel like it doesn't matter considering the amount of crazy mandates being passed at the moment but it absolutely matters IF we do it in large numbers. Politicians work for US not the other way around and I think a lot of people tend to forget that. Our government is for the people not for the politicians who want to rule. We need to stand together and push back...this is more than just COVID it's about egregious political power abused by our politicians.
Take a look what is happening around the world in first world countries like Canada, Australia, France..TODAY not 100 years ago. It's frightening and if people don't wake up and realize that the more complacent we become the more we are inching towards losing our freedoms.

I hear you. And I do agree. The issue is, so many people actually AGREE with it. Not just that they get lazy or complacent or don't want to step up and get involved, but many actually agree with it and think all of this is right and good and they support it 100%. That makes things even harder.

I agree. It's mind boggling how many people think it's ok and it's easy to feel defeated. Deep down maybe I'm being naive but I believe there are more of "us" critical thinkers then there are of them which is why we need to speak up. It's easy to remain silent, that goes for me too...scared to speak up at times, scared to be shunned but with every passing day I realize that I cannot be complacent. We need to band together..there is power in numbers.

I just read an article about the new school mask mandate that was put into place this evening and the Governor states she’s going to find a way to mandate the vaccine in schools. She’s wasting no time.

Bill to make covid vaccine mandatory in schools
When I was hoping for Cuomos demise after the nursing home scandal I was told that she was worse so I was hoping he’d stay in office and then just not seek re-election (even though his acts were heinous - but then again many in similar positions have done the same or worse unfortunately).

you can stand together. Don't send your kids to school! i know that is not an option for people. Many states and counties are already seeing a drastic drop in enrollment. Look at all the business who had mandates and had to roll them back bc they were going to lose half or more of their staff. We have more power then people think.
Its like that movie A Bugs Life where they say "you let one ant stand up to us, and they all might stand up! those "puny little ants" outnumber us a hundred to one. And if we let them figure that out... there goes our way of life! its not about food. its abut keeping those ants in line."
Also i said from the start that id rather have the devil i know than the one i dont. Iv heard she is worse then him.

Yes - I was thinking it would be sometime next week. We are still reeling here with the city worker mandate...

Bill to make covid vaccine mandatory in schools
And if this passes, here we are going to have everyone homeschooling their kids and teachers are going to start losing their jobs. I'm not ant-vaxx, but I don't think something this new should be forced...

FDNY is preparing to have to make cuts to accommodate a 20% reduction in workforce due to this. Less firehouse, staff, ambulances, slower response time in emergencies. We are paying the price..

Bill to make covid vaccine mandatory in schools
Question for anyone familiar with NYC public schools. The mayor can only make decisions for PUBLIC schools, correct? Not religious and private schools? So, a student vaccine mandate in the city would not apply to children in private schools unless it becomes a statewide mandate? I know private school teachers in the city do not need to be vaccinated. Personally, I think mayoral control of the schools needs to end.

Good question, not sure of the answer…my kids go to Catholic school and other regulations last year weren’t the same as the public schools but who knows what will apply…di blasio has said he wouldn’t mandate but he’s on his way out anyway and front runner Adams is a fan of mandating…and then there’s the governor…once the state mandates it we are all SOL

I guess it was only FDA approval - they still need CDC approval but they aren’t going to say no…

I actually had a nightmare about this last night. One of those bad dreams where you are sobbing in the dream and wake up crying. This is absolutely terrifying to me
