Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
I love my dog and I would love to take him everywhere but I dont think a dog belong in a supermarket or any other place where people buy their food etc.. At the same time people need to understand and respect that they are a lot of people with dog allergies.

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
I have 2 dogs and would never even think of bringing them anywhere! its so silly!!
my FIL just doesn't get it though. he brought his 90Lb dog into cvs and the bank. both places asked him to leave the dog is very sweet but we still laugh about it to this day because he just doesn't understand that you can't bring a dog into places!

I love dogs....as you can prob. see from my chat avatar I have a wonderful lab named Max
That being said...I would not bring him or any other dog into any establishment other than the vet, a park. Now if he were a service dog or being trained as a service dog I would have no issue.
ITA! and Max is a doll

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
I would have no problem dining at a restaurant where someone brought their dog. Dogs behave better than some humans and don't treat the wait staff rudely!

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
the only place that they should be is in a pet store. if people put the dog in a wagon, i don't think its healthy. that's where people put there food

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
I have 2 dogs (one tiny and one getting bigger every day) and I would never brign them into a store other than a pet store.
I do not think it is sanitary to bring a dog into the supermarket. I saw that one here recently and couldn't stop staring. And I think other sotres are out of the question bc 1. people are allergic 2. 1 dog in the store may be ok and not make a mess but if everyone brought their dogs the store would be full of hair and not be clean and 3. I want to shop in peace. As it is I can't eat, walk around, or even use the bathroom without being followed by one of my furbabies!

I am a huge animal lover. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats.
I do not think any animal belongs in a store, restaurant, etc. unless it is a service animal. There is just no reason for it.
I agree with you 100% and not b/c I am not an animal lover either.

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
wow, i never realized this would be such a heated topic. Although everyone on this thread is being nice!!
I have my lilttle yorkie bella and everyone loves her and we walk her everywhere, but I am very aware of signs and will not take her in a store that says no dogs. There are like two retaurants in my neighborhood, where you can have your dog with you if you in the outside areas. They will even give you a bowl of water and treats.

So funny, because bringing a dog in the store bothers me less than when someone has a screaming kid in the store, and can't control them...
But you can't really leave your kid at home....

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
*I* don't have a problem with it. But I also know that my opinion isn't the only one that matters. As Greenie so eloquently stated, it's about respect and the basic ability to understand that SOME people do have an issue with it due to allergies or extreme phobias or whatever else.
I love that there ARE dog friendly places.. and human beings who don't like dogs or are afraid or allergic should avoid those places while dog lovers should enjoy! But if the place is NOT specifically for dogs or other animals.. sorry.. they just don't belong there.

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores
I do not think pets should be allowed where food is, however totally fine with it anywhere else!!!
I have a 55 lb Golden we take everywhere. We live in NYC ...so mayeb it's a bit different here. Since we take her for several walks a day...to go outside..(since we have no house or backyard). It is so much easier while leaving our apartment for walks with her...to take her in the Drugstore, hardware store, or etc to quick run an errand.
I feel like so many places in the city our DOG Friendly. We have restaurants in the city called Barking Dog...set up with outside dog bowls and treats- geared specifically for dog lovers. I guess this is fair...b/c basically only someone who is a dig lover would go to "The Barking Dog"
I just took are dog last weekend into Bllomingdales. We really had no choice...but it was a lifesaver.
We had an open house on our apartment in the city and DH, me and Dog have to leave. Well that day is whas down pouring ( so could not just walk around)...so needless to say.."thank goodness" We seeked shelter in Bloomingdales!! LOL. It's crazy i know...they allow dogs of all sizes..( we saw tons) LOL. P.S I would never do it anytime but b.c we were desperate in the rain we just did. : (
Anyways, I guess i could see why it would not be fair to everyone! Especially if you are allergic, afraid or etc.
I could def understand the other side of things. ITA with no pets should be allowed in grocery stores or inside restaurants.

But my dog is my BABY... how could you say SUCH a thing?!?!?!? I am absolutely horrified that you would even suggest that a dog is less loved than a baby.
FTR I don't have a dog.
