Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores

First, I seriously think dogs are way better than MOST people I know.

I do bring my pooch many places with me, that being said...As a responsible pet owner I do not bring him to places that serve food, although I totally would if it were legal Chat Icon

It is said that being a pet owner decreases stress and anger and enhances ones life:) Just saying !!

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores

my opinion keep your dog home unless it is in areas where dogs are welcomed. When it comes to stores.

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores

Oh, don't even get me started! Last week I went to get a pedicure and this woman came into the salon with not one, but 2 dogs and as I was paying one of them went for my toes. They were still kind of wet and it tried to sniff them and was reaching towards it with it's hairy snout. I was like: "EXCUSE ME, PLEASE GET IT AWAY FROM ME RIGHT NOW!!!!"

I mean, here I am, out of the house for 30 minutes because my mom agreed to stay with the kids and I tell you, I would have been sooo pizzed if I haven't notice it on time and the dog ruined my toes. The owner of the dogs was completely oblivious to what her dogs were up to.

Now that I am a dog owner, I will respond. I love my pup and he is my wittle baby but he does not belong in a supermarket.

And although he is a lap dog I will never bring him with me shopping or in a store.

I did bring him with me once to express, cause i had to run in and pay a bill and it was where we were taking him for a walk. But I ran in paid and was out. I never want to do that again.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I HATE IT!!! ITS NOT CLEAN, UNSAFE AND UNNECESSARRY. IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR DOG INTO A STORE, GO TO PETCO.

Are you guys at the Macaroni Grill?

I hear they love dogs there

LMAO Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Nope!

FTR: this was in Key West. I have seen up to ten dogs in the restaurants at one time! They are very pet friendly there. We wanted to order take out from this restaurant but the owner begged us to stay - the chef then came out and gave Brutus his very own sausage! Chat Icon

I was just in Germany and they allow dogs everywhere! It is the norm to see dogs in stores and restaurants.

I didn't mind it one bit, but I wouldn't do it myself unless I was in another place where it was "the norm".

Unless it's a service dog, keep it out of stores... Especially in an eatery. You love your doggie, and that's great, but not everyone feels the same way .

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores

I have a yorkie, and I love her to pieces. While I do view her as my baby, I do not expect others to feel the same way (nor should they - she is a DOG).

I never would have thought it was appropriate to bring her anywhere but Petco or the vet. But my husband's cousin is EXTREMELY allergic to dogs of any kind. Just being in the vicinity of dogs sends him into a major allergic reaction. So now I am even more aware of how rude and inconsiderate it is to expect that my dog is more important than a human who potentially may be having a severe reaction just from being in the same store as my pup.

She can wait in the car for 5 minutes, or she can stay home, sit on my couch and watch tv while I shop Chat Icon

And bringing a dog into a food store Chat Icon Yuk!

This is my problem because of my daughter ! Her allergies are so bad it triggers asthma attacks ! If I go to someones house with animals I have to make sure I have her inhaler and I have to give her benadryl ! Chat Icon

I am a huge animal lover. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats.

I do not think any animal belongs in a store, restaurant, etc. unless it is a service animal. There is just no reason for it.

I had to check the date on this because I thought it was a resurrected post... I personally don’t care if a dog or cat is in a store or restaurant, but I respect other people so I personally would never bring my animal in a place they are not allowed. It’s just common courtesy.

Besides every time I bring my mountain lion anywhere everyone wants pictures with him & I can't get any shopping done... Chat Icon

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores

I don't understand people that do this.

Why is it necessary to bring your dog everywhere? I LOVE dogs!! But they need to stay home, unless in an outdoor setting ie park, beach, and they are leashed.

Re: Bringing Dogs in Stores

interesting topic

i had fish & birds growing up. so Jack is
my first dog. Until i owned a pet, i never got how others feel about them now I TOTALLY GET IT - Jack is my furbaby and i LOVE him to pieces. No i dont take him into stores, but if i do a quick run ie gas, etc, i will take him for the car drive.
I dont take him in supermarkets etc, as i dont think that is healthy - but Petco etc i totally take him to & he loves it - so yes, i try to take him as many places as i can.
