Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
UNDERWEAR! We left my "real" bag in the car as instructed and only brought in the labor bag. After a LONG labor, I finally was brought to my room at 5am. Poor DH was beyond exhausted, the car was parked really far away and it was raining so I just told him to go home, get some rest and bring my bag with him later. BIG MISTAKE. I was planning to use the "disposable panties they provide you with" and just change into a hospital gown until DH came back later that day. Turned out my hospital didn't have the underwear! They also looked at me like I had 2 heads when I said I had no clothes and needed a gown (and had to go get one from another floor). I could go on about how inconvenient this was, but I'll leave it at that. Don't assume your hospital will provide you with disposable underwear is the moral of the story!
I also used all of my toiletries, my own pads (was glad for this, I don't even remember them giving me any), deodorant, tooth brush and paste, hair brush, make-up (I did threw a bit on both days I was there). Never used my hairdryer.

Underwear. Cheap cotton granny panties that you won't mind throwing out. A robe or sweatshirt. I was Freezing in the hospital. Cheap socks. The ones the hospital gives are so itchy. I threw them out bc hospital floors skeeve me. Toiletries. Tooth brush , tooth paste. Hair brush. Etc.. I brought pads but used the hospital ones. Phone charger, camera. Comfy clothes to go home.

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
Just doubled checked my bag, since I am 37+ weeks. I had been throwing things in it along the way.
Toiletries (brush, comb, tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner, small toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, my face lotion, chapstick)
Flip-flops for shower
Slippers and soft socks
Bathrobe
Granny panties
2 sets of my own PJs (with button tops because I will BF)
2 pairs of leggings and 2 shirts (one outfit I will wear home)
camera, fully charged
Things I will not bring at first or will have DH bring when I need it:
Boppy (for BF or sitting on!) my own breastpump, if I need to laptop/iPad (will not bring, I have an iphone I can use) Baby's going home outfit (DH will bring with him the day we go home) hairdryer (I have no need for it) Kindle (although I think I'll be sleeping if I have free time).

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
Underwear (make sure they are a little larger than you would normally wear in case you have a c-sec). Pads- I used hospital pads the first two days but than I went to more comfortable stayfree ones Hair Ties-You will want them for labor. Flip Flops- Great for shower and walking around the hospital Zip-up hoodie- Great to throw over your nursing tanks when people come to visit. Nightgown or nightshirt- I used victoria secret nightshirts at night. They were nice and loose. I had a c-section. Towels- I made dh bring me up new towels every night. I couldn't stand the small useless towels they had. It was nice to have big bath towel.
Make sure you bring your cell phone charger and your camera charger!
For the baby
Pacifers- Yes the hospital provides them but my hospital only had nuks my dd was no loving them. I was happy I had soothies with me. Clothing- I got dd dressed during the day. I know some people are against that but I liked to get her dressed everyday. Swaddle me- I used thenm during the day it was easier than doing the hospital blankets.

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
I think everyone already metioned everything I was going to write. The only thing I will say is make sure you have a tank top, short sleeve shirt or nightgown with you. I'm never hot, but I was sweating in the hospital. I was stripping clothes, LOL!
As for pads, I recommend Always Infinity Overnights or heavy. I actually bought both this time.

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
I used everything that I packed except for my nightgowns/pj's. I was worried that I would ruin them I just used the hospitals. The things I couldn't live without was lip balm, a good body lotion(skin gets really dry after delivery), my body wash(dove), my own pillow, bath towel (hospital ones are the size of a hand towel), and boppy.

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
PJs (determine what you'll need based on whether or not you're going to BF - I had a loose nightgown that the top came down easily since I BF'd)
Robe - to cover up when visitors came.
Underwear
Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush
Cocoa Butter for my belly - it was SOOOO itchy after delivery, dry and itchy...
Camera
Phone
Maternity pants and comfortable top to go home with

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
All I used was the cheap underwear I bought, no skid socks, and I took a shower on the last day so I used my bath bag. We also ate the snacks we brought. I never wore clothes until the day I left- I was put on a magnesium IV and had to stay in a gown the whole time. Oh and we used the boppy!

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
I used everything I brought. Instead of wearing pjs, I just brought t-shirts and sweat pants so I was always "dressed." I'm glad I did that bc my baby was in the NICU and I went to feed her every 3 hours so it was more comfortable to be in clothes rather than pjs. I also brought socks that I threw away. I didn't need my computer bc I have a Blackberry. Remember to bring the charger. I also brought my camera and charger. DH brought some magazines but I didn't get to read them. Between visitors and going to see the baby in the NICU, there really wasn't time. When I was finally by myself, I just wanted to sleep. I also brought my own soap, toothbrush/paste and mouthwash. I brought a small makeup bag too. I just remembered--bring snacks! They brought me to my room at 4am and I was starving!!!! I had cereal bars and peanut butter crackers. Just put some things in a ziploc and you will be glad you did

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
i can tell you what i brought but did NOT use:
makeup slippers maxi-pads (the hospital ones are so much more effective) cute pajamas (they were too small) socks (my feet were too swollen) a razor/shaving cream cold packs heat packs tucks (for hemmies, which I didn't have)
what i remember really needing:
granny panties chapstick cell phone charger maternity pajamas a warm hoodie/sweatshirt (temperature regulation was a challenge) flip flops

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
I packed my bag with all the things i thought i'd need.. and didn't end up using a lot of it!
what i did use: big towel from home my own toiletries flip flops 2 tanks lightweight hoodie loose flowy yoga pants lightweight robe charger for phone
I used the hospital underwear while i was there, and used giant cotton ones when i got home - i think i went through about 10 pairs in the two weeks i was recovering!
use the hospital pads and chucks - they're free! they also provided me with tucks/ice packs/creams while i was there and i was able to grab a bunch to bring home with me.
what i didn't use: makeup boppy hair dryer (i didn't have the strength to attempt to dry my hair!) magazines (if i had free time, i was staring at DS, responding to the millions of emails/fb posts and texts, or sleeping)
main thing to remember - anything you bring from home, be prepared to have it be ruined. Everything i had was stained and i threw out when i got home (except for the robe). i know that isn't the case for everyone, but you never know

Re: BTDT- What did you put in your hospital bag that you actually used?
I really only used my toiletries, slippers, and my phone and camera chargers... Oh, and an outfit to go home in.
I had DS at 9pm, got to my room sometime around 11pm and then the next day I wasn't really feeling like getting into clothes so I just wore the hospital gown and the disposable underwear after I woke up and showered.
The next day, I woke up, showered and got dressed to go home. DH brought the carseat and the going home outfit for DS.
I definitely overpacked!!!
