can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

i am interested to know what your sex life is like.

do you schedule it?
who initiates?
does it require effort or does it come easy ? do you want eachother?
how often?

sorry if this is too personal. please answer however you feel comfortable! be vague or give lots of details!!!!

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

Honestly I said I would NEVER be one of those people that loses interest in sex after kids. Well mentally I still think about it all the time lol, physically I am exhausted and for the most part have to push myself to get there...although once I do I am happy I did Chat Icon We don't schedule it, we both still initiate and it's certainly not as often as I would like or it use to be!

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

It's definitely challenging...

Yesterday morning, perfect example...we both woke up "in the mood", but before we could do anything about it, there's DD yelling "Dada!" on the monitor!

Night is pretty much the only possible time--but as the OP said, exhaustion is a factor then. We're both wiped by the end of the day.

We take turns as the "instigator", I think.

But, we find ways to fit it in, at least once a week Chat Icon

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

i'll answer my own qs

well, no we dont schedule it although i feel like maybe we should start to schedule it.

of the two of us, i guess i intiate more but i dont intiate that much

def doesnt come easy. i think after a long day of work, coming home, cooking, taking care of dd, putting her down for the night ( she goes to bed at 9:30 but sometimes we'll have problems and she'll go to bed at 1030) it's def tough to decompress and get in the mood. and my husband works from home so he has a completely different level of stress then i do. i feel for him!

ugh, how often? ..Chat Icon yeah i'll leave that part out

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

In the begining it's really tough. Lack of sleep and just drained. Sleep becomes more important (and I never thought that would be me).

Gets better once the baby is STTN. Still somewhat scheduled only b/c we both work full time and I get up 2 hours b4 DH. I'll send a cute text to DH that we gotta do it and then joke it's gotta be done b4 9pm (sorta joke Chat Icon somewhat true).

Like the PP said... after I'm like Phew, glad I made time for that.

Would I like to do it more... YES! It's not always the case though Chat Icon

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

I feel bad reading this. DS will be 5 months next week and we have only DTD 2x.

I had an emergecy C and felt horrible for a long time and DS was colic until 13 weeks so sleep was a big issue and now that I am back to work full time I am just soo exhausted and DS still wakes up at least once a night.

I know we would be much happier if we did and i realize we should make time..

he initiates sometimes but i usally say i have to do laundry, pump, clean or sleep... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

We schedule it once a week on Tuesdays. Most of the time I forget it's "sex night", and DH will just go, you forgot again. We shoot for once a week, but doesn't always get accomplished. I'm usually way to tired for it.

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

I TRY to make sure we get it in 1/week but it doesn't always happen that way. Sometimes when weighing sleep versus s e x - sleep wins!!! Chat Icon

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

I try to make sure we DTD once a week, but like everyone else said - the exhaustion sometimes gets the better of me.
I know DH would be quite happy to do it every day.

Re: can we please have discussion about sex after kids?

The problem for us is not lack of desire, we want to DTD and we start, but sex is very painful for me now. I'm hoping it will stop hurting once I stop BFing which I don't plan to do for at least another 6 months. They say that BFing dries you out a bit, that is not the problem for us, it feels like something is VERY swollen inside. Aside from the pain, we are both very tired at night so it's best for us to try and DTD in the beginning of the day. We both initiate Chat Icon We are definitely not having enough!

Same Boat! I was just at the OBgyn the other day and she said I'm dryed and shriveled like an old lady from the BFing and that I'll go back2 normal when i stop. In the meantime she gave me estrogen cream (like they give post menopausal woman) to help!

We make sure to do it at least once a week- regardless of how we are feeling. We sort of plan it- in the morning DH will ask me if he can get some laterChat Icon We didn't DTD until about 3 months after DD was born.
