Re: Cross post - Toxicology reports for the Taconic Crash in
I wonder if, now that it's out there that they don't believe the ME or the tox report, and won't comment on the pot, that they just won't exhume the body and do their own autopsy. To let her rest in peace. And leave it at that.
By the way, to all the pot smokers out there, congratulations. He just announced that it's legal. Have a ball.

He said she worked days and he was home with the kids. A sitter came when he had to leave and then she would return from work to relieve the sitter. So really they werent even in physical touch during the week.
Perhaps she put the kids to bed at night and had a few drinks at home. This could happen 5 nights a week without him even knowing what she was doing.. It would be easy for her to cover up drinking if they werent even home together on work days!
Thats the perfect set up for a closet drinker. The sitter probably knows more then the husband.

this is what I don't understand.
whether she was an alcoholic really isnt' the point.
there are MILLIONS of alcoholics, functioning or completely unable to function, that DO NOT go apeshit with a fifth of vodka and a nickle bag with a car full of CHILDREN on the Taconic.
more and more I am really starting to believe that something just went VERY wrong in this family recently, and she just snapped. lost it.
having a few drinks every night before you go to bed is one thing...going on a bender in the middle of the morning is something COMPLETELY different.

Exactly. NO ONE wants to talk. The dh KNOWS he will be sued and probably lose his home if he talks. SOMEONE knew.

also, didn't they discuss the findings of the brain tissue during the autopsy, and didn't find anything indicative of a stroke/aneurism/tumor???? I thought that result came out before the tox report?????? I could be wrong though.

Chuckle break for a second.
I went to find out what specifically about pot is illegal... I've heard there's some weird technicality like it's illegal to grow or posess it but not smoke it? I don't know.
But Google tries to autocomplete everything I type in and for once, I looked at the list.
This is what I got when I typed "is" into the search box:

I totally agree. My point of them working opposite schedules and her possibly drinking every night was just that perhaps he didnt know her habits as well as he thinks he does.
I do think something happened with the husband before she got on the road. It took her 3 or more hours to travel less than an hours distance. Something was up.. Something happened in that time frame that obviously will explain the entire thing. I still think that the husband and wife had a fight, someone got caught cheating, wanted a divorce, had a huge financial problem, something - whatever it was - HUGE happened before she began to drive home and she just freakin snapped...

BINGO!!! I think so many people are trying to put this on the fact that she was an alcoholic, but even alcoholic who drink every day don't do this. Something made her snap to do what she did. If she was selfish enough and an alcoholic and hid it from everyone, I could see her have a drink or two drinks while driving, but binging on 10 shots (and some marijuiana) in 2 hours is something completely different. She was on a mission to get absolutely and totally wasted for whatever reason and did not give a **** about herself or those kids in the car. There is so much more going on here.

It's kind of sad when a child finds out from google that Santa isn't real!
Anyway, the fines for less than 25 grams pot possession is b.s. - $100 to $200 for a first and second offense. No incarceration.

they are looking for the "other glove"
I can see ONE positive maybe being wrong...but to mistake alcohol presence AND the presence of marijuana is highly unlikely.
he is trying to establish a causal link between her diabetes, the abcess (an open sore) and a bump on her leg (injuries like this generally effect diabetics more if they go untreated...though not sure how they are trying to link them and then say that the chemical makeup for the changes in blood sugar mirror or mimic the presence of drugs and alcohol in the blood????)
or maybe these injuries coupled with her diabetes caused her to lose her mind, like rabies or something...prompting her to go on a binge.....
not sure how many diabetics are regulars at the local bar though.
I wish there was a transcript of this press conference. I'd LOVE to read it.
Dominic Barbara used to ge a semi regular on the Howard Stern show too...not sure if he is anymore.
Crazy. Diabetics very definitely should not be drinking, or not heavily at any rate. It wreaks havoc with their blood sugar levels, so it would make the condition worse, maybe this is his arguement? But it's very flawed because her diabetes probably had little to do with the crash, and being inebriated more likely did.
As a diabetic, I have drank alcohol, and during college, I drank alot. Typically, your blood sugar will drop and you may have the same symptoms as a drunk person - unable to speak clearly, trouble walking and eventually, you can pass out. The problem is is that if you are drunk people won't know if you are drunk or have low blood sugar. Diabetes does not happen over night. I was diagnosed at 10 and my pediatrician misdiagnosed me and I walked around for about 4 months with no one knowing. I never passed out, I never acted strangely besides being exhausted, losing weight and peeing every second. I was almost in a diabetic coma when they diagnosed me, but my blood sugar was over 600. There were total signs as well. The trouble with her situation is that her family said she had NO medical problems. Now she has a ton. Also, she would have to have a bunch of symptoms before it got this point. With undiagnosed diabetes you don't go from 0 to 100 in an hour. You have clues that something is wrong and it slowly gets worse. As a diabetic, I find his argument mindboggling and I think this is the total wrong approach. he should have said nothing b/c now everything he says is going to be analyzed by those civil attorneys. I agree with what a PP said about the different schedules b/w spouses. Who knows what she was doing at home while he was at work. He probably has no clue what she was like b/c they didn't really see each other during the week.

I have type 2 after having gestational with my DS. Which is what I believe they are claiming. Why didn't they say right off the bat that she had type 2 diabetes? I know if something happened to me it would be the first thing my DH would say.

I think something changed her a long time ago when she started her whole secret life.If it was truelly a secret life. She has not been "right" for sometime. That day somethng set her off and we may never know.
I think the fact that she was alcoholic is VERY important because the civil case will be trying to prove that her family HAD to know. Her DH is already setting up the scenario that they don't see each other daily.
It is confusing because her DH's lawyer said they had no marital problems, no alcohol problems and no drug problems.
Her drinking buddy at local bar says she complained about her marriage and liked her drinks (but not excessively) and her DH said she smoked pot.
And Mrsej made an excellent point...all last week she was in excellent health and now the family is listing like 5-6 causes for this accident.
No one wants to accept the truth.
ETA: The cause of her suffering it not important any more. Who knew she was suffering and who could have helped/stopped it is what really is important.

The little girls' mom must be dead inside. Imagine being married to your husband and HIS SISTER gets in a crash & kills ALL of your children. Then you find out she was drunk.
I think I would literally divorce him.
why would you divorce him? It isn't his fault at all.. can you imagine what he is going through too? If i loved my husband and God Forbid it was his sister that did this to our family, i would HATE his sister but not take it out on my DH.. we would go through this together, not place blame on eachother.

The westchester newspaper just reported that the medical examiner's office stated that they stand by their results and that they ruled out stroke, diabetes and any other medical problems. In fact, they said that the what the police thought could be high levels of sugar in her eye fluid was actually alcohol. The medical examiner also said that there was no evidence of a tooth abscess. I just don't believe the medical examiner could be completely wrong. If this gives the husband "peace" (if that is the appropriate word) than he should do it, but I really doubt the results will change.
Why were they looking for a tooth abscess? What would that have meant? I'm just curious...
They are saying the tooth abcess could have travelled to her brain, causing erratic and crazy behavior.

Wow! Grasp at straws much? Next thing you know they will be saying she had leprosy and maybe polio.
And I have had a tooth abscess.. those MoFo's are PAINFUL. Painful to the point where you can't even sleep at night... there is no way I could have left that untreated long enough for it to travel to the brain. A few days and I was screaming for mercy.
Oh wait- that's another angle- maybe the pain of the abscess was SO bad she couldn't handle it and her fear of the dentist drove her to drink and smoke pot.... right? Sound plausible? Call that lawyer...

I was trying really hard to not comment on this thread, but this is what I keep coming back to as well.
I thought perhaps she had an undiagnosed mental condition and had a break, causing the bender. I know someone who was bipolar who was never diagnosed, drank socially (as far as anyone knew) and one day just had a meltdown.
I think there is a lot of details in this case that have yet to be explained and there is a lot of speculation based purely on the small amount of facts being given to the public by the media.

While I would like to agree, it's pretty common for marriages to fall apart after the loss of a child. Now add in the fact that it was your SIL who killed them? That's a LOT of stress for a marriage to withstand.
Let's just say I wouldn't be surprised to hear if 6 months to a year down the road we hear of them splitting.

I agree.
If what her family is saying is true - about her not being a big drinker/smoker then maybe she did snap b/c of something else? Who knows.
Then again, maybe I'm just looking to rationalize what she did b/c I just can't wrap my brain around what she did?
