For how long do you plan to/did you breastfeed?

Just wondering what everyone's plans are and/or what BTDT Moms actually ended up doing? Also wondering what your reasons were for planning to stop or stopping at a certain point? I haven't done any research yet but I'm wondering what is best for baby.

ETA: For anyone who kept BFing after going back to work, how hard was it to keep it up?

IM currently on month 10 of ebfing ds. I def will go to 12 months, possibly up to 15 months.

Bf'd DS for close to 30 months! Had planned on 6-months and then moved onto a year. He was an avid nurser and it made many things easier - so we just continued on. This pregnancy is why he ultimately stopped, I dried up completely at about 5-6 months. It was an easy weaning process :)

I'm planning on 12 months... Just hope I am able to do it! (first baby, dont know too much about it, and if I will make enough!)

Would love to do 12 months. With the last, I only had supply up until 6 months. I was in the process of moving and was stressed out which decrease my supply.

I am planning on BFing for 6-9 months, but not pumping. So, I'll probably just supplement with formula when I go out and can't BF.

My goal if BF is successful is 9 months.

I BF my DS for 12 months. I'd like to do the same this time around, but I know BF twins is very difficult!

my original plan was to BF exclusively as long as possible. then i had a traumatic preemie birth and had the worst supply ever. so i ended up nursing with pumping and supplementing for 9 months. i would have gone longer but my supply was just SO low by 9m and when she started eating table foods she pretty much lost all interest in boob. i am still very proud to have been able to make it that long considering how low my supply was from the beginning.

My goal is to ebf my dd for a year. She's 19weeks and I'm hoping I can figure out how to continue when she gets teeth. If it doesn't work out I will continue to pump and feed her only bm. I don't want to supplement with formula.

She's been at daycare since 13weeks. I havent had a problem feeding her or pumping. It makes me sad that I don't get nurse like I did before but when I do it's wonderful.

I'm planning for 3-6 months, but not doing it exclusively. I'll definitely be supplementing with formula after 3 months.

After I go back to work I can't see it lasting much beyond the 6 month mark. If pumping isn't a pain I'll go as long as I can but not longer than 12 months.

I EBF for 3 months. After returning to work I BF in the morns and evening and supplemented with formula. I stopped BFing around 6 months.

I did for a very short time with my boys and will prob do the same if not at all with this one...with going back to school and two other kids to take care of, i don't want to do it badly enough to be honest...formula doesn't bother me in the least, my kids were great on formula!

I EBF for 3 months, then continued pumping and started supplementing with formula to 5 months. I stopped pumping and now he only nurses once a day before bed. He's 8 months. I'm not sure how much longer I'll continue, but I will so long as it's working for us.

Last time with my daughter I did 22 months. Doing at least a year is a must for me but not sure I will go for the 2 year mark- I think that depends on the baby. My husband ( not like he has a say ) doesnt want me to go past a year because my daughter was so addicted to nursing and it freaks him out with larger babies. My daughter is 4 and half and still asks to nurse almost daily after i weaned her 2 and half years ago Now she switched it around to demanding she is the one who is going to BF the baby, good luck with that HaHa . I see her as president of the Le Leche League in 25 years

6 months EBF and plan to go to at least 12 months. At 12 months I'm stopping pumping though and just nurse morning, night and weekends.

I'm at 7.5 months ebf and plan to go to at least a year. I SAH so that makes it really easy. I think moms who bf and work are pretty much superheros!

Would like to allow baby 2 to self wean, hopefully sometime after a year. DD is 16 mo and still nursing. I am hoping she self weans before baby 2 (she will be 23 mo), but only time will tell.
