Getting back to Normal
had to run to Target to pick up a few things for dinner and the store was packed. No one socially distancing, it was the first time in weeks that I have been in a store that full. I have also been noticing stores have stopped the limiting of numbers of customers allowed in at a time.

Not the stores in my area and I rarely see anyone without a mask even when they’re outside.

Re: Getting back to Normal
Yes our Target was crowded today as well but to be honest they never really limited the people in the store from the beginning. I did notice when we went to stand on that one line to check out that feeds into the registers up front that nobody was staying 6 ft apart...the line had so many people on it that you really couldn't stay on the spots on the ground. It moved fast though.

Actually the amount of people allowed in these big stores is a lot. At Walmart I was told technically they could have a hundreds of people depending on the size of the store even though I think the limit was 200 at one point. People think this is all over now.

Exactly. People are over it, so they treat it like it's over. If the miraculous disappearance of the virus we have all been praying for doesn't happen, this is going to be...staggering. Now, and over the weeks and months to come.
The stricter best practices that everyone seems to revile and ignore were/are our best bet for bot being shut up in our houses again and for even longer.
And the problem that people have with masks, even as they claim to hate the quarantine...is inexplicable. I think people with mask sensitivity should be advised as the old and infirm are...wait it out indoors. For your sake and society's.

Re: Getting back to Normal
On the contrary I do think that more people are following the rules than I thought they would. I went out yesterday and there was a lot of traffic on the roads. But when I got to Target, there was a line outside to get in that wrapped around the building. Everyone was wearing masks and standing 6 feet apart. I didn't want to wait so I drove to the grocery store and that line was also very long - with masks and distancing. I left again and decided to go later in the day, and when I did, there were no lines at the supermarket to get in but inside everyone was wearing masks and using the one way aisles and if someone had to pass someone they did it very quickly and actually apologized.

Yeah, well there are only two stores open around here to buy clothing Etc. Target and Walmart. Kids are growing, people need things other than food. So those two stores are going to be insanely crowded. Not everyone has weeks to wait for their stuff to order online.

Hence why they should open up other stores like now. To take the burden off the 2 stores that ARE open and hence less crowds. Ridiculous nonsense that makes zero sense

Exactly, I have been saying this for weeks. Walmart looks like Black Friday in the parking lot every time I go past there. There is no reason Kohl's and other stores can't be open. Small boutiques can limit the amount of people in the store, this is just getting absolutely ridiculous at this point. I ordered some clothes for my daughter from Old Navy and they took three weeks to get to me.

Getting back to Normal
I'm in NJ but the Kohl's by me has been doing curbside pick up since this whole thing started. So has the Best Buy. Not sure why this isn't already being done everywhere.

Re: Getting back to Normal
Yes I noticed how busy target when I went to do a drive up order. Families going several adults together.
Apparently some businesses are doing what they want at this point and not caring.
Some ice cream place advertised on their Fb page that they had outdoor seating setup. The setup wasn’t even 6 ft apart.
Personally I don’t care I just find it interesting that they are blatantly breaking the rules and not caring. Lol

I care. A lot. Aside from personally missing my family's beautiful life outside the house, it was devastating to stand by as 100,000 plus have died and many more have suffered torment that we cannot comprehend from the ravages of this. I cannot conceive of that number being exponentially bigger as we are shut in for longer.

Getting back to Normal
People have been expecting a surge in cases for over a month now. First it was "2 weeks after Easter." Then, "2 weeks after that beautiful weekend we have May 2nd-3rd." The most recent..."2 weeks after Mother's Day." NONE of those spikes ever happened. The cases and deaths keep getting lower & lower, today they were down to levels from before NY started tracking in mid March. So...where is this surge of new cases that people have been talking about?

I thought all stores could do curbside, but they had to limit themselves to a very small amount of employees in store?

In totality cases are lower but I know at least in the hospital I work in, we did see a small increase in cases and then having patients we had for a while that got discharged off set the numbers but yes there were new cases. My hospital saw between 1-2% rise and then fall

I personally believe we’re not seeing it because of the masks. As much as everyone complains (myself included), most people are faithfully wearing them.
I do believe there will be some sort of second wave or spike eventually, but if everyone is masked up i can’t imagine how it could be worse than the first.

No. All non essential store were ordered to close. They will be allowed to do curbside pickup when phase 1 starts.

Getting back to Normal
Dublin deck in Patchogue was caught being open. Someone live-streamed on Instagram showing a packed bar. Zero social distancing and no masks. They issued an “apology” on Instagram and said that they only let people in because they were outside waiting for curbside and it started to rain, but it looked like they had a DJ Or loud music playing.

Oh really? Most stores in my town are doing curbside and have been for several weeks. Including craft places, toys, hobby shops which I assume aren’t “essential”.

There will always be new cases, probably for many years to come. We cannot prevent this. But at least now the hospitals are much better prepared.
As for another spike, if there is one (and let's hope there isn't), I do not see as many people agreeing to be locked up again and I do not see as many businesses willing to shut down again. I really think people will push back.

There will always be a slight increase in cases, this virus will never be completely gone- even when the vaccine is available. I was talking more about the people who said we would have a catastrophic increase of thousands of people.
