Re: Has anyone been able to schedule a Covid vaccine today??
I finally got an appointment about an hour ago for tomorrow. This was after trying for literally 8+ hours, so it may take some time. I used this site:

A large number of people become eligible in 1b. I made an appointment because I am a teacher.

It's really too long. Too many people trying to get vaccines. My dad is 75+ and his cancer is back. He's tryign to get vaccinated asap and is holding off on chemo to get vaccinated bc once on chemo, he can't. There has to be a better way. Some 20 year old can get an apptmt before he can.

My sister was able to easily get my mom an appointment late last night.
I assume the site was totally overwhelmed last night.

I also agree. Did the definition of essential change? If I recall, there were many, many people with jobs on that list who spent a great deal of time crying that they weren't essential just a few months ago.
I presume once vaccinated they will all return to work 100% full time? That surely must be the purpose of all this.

I think it's ridiculous that there's no rhyme or reason for who gets the vaccine first! They just said the MTA workers now are eligible. Well, IMO, that means bus drivers, train drivers, token booth clerks, and other people who actually deal with the public. I work for an MTA agency, but I'm working from home 4 out 5 days. I only go into the office once a week. So, I figure I'll wait a few months to get the vaccine. Yet, my co-worker, who also is working from home 4 days a week, just is looking to sign up now! I don't think that's fair.

Do we need to schedule the 2nd as well - or is that being done when you receive the 1st?

My husband got his second appt when he received his first.
I just saw Cuomo adjusted the age categories to be 65+ and now allows those 65-74 to get the vaccine too.
The group he had before could barely get appointments (not saying that there are those in the 65-74 age bracket that don't deserve) but, it's such a mess, why add more people right now?

Exactly! I wonder what the states are going to do when Trump is out and they don’t have that scapegoat.

Lol - I saw a tweet yesterday - from Cuomo -
Andrew Cuomo @NYGovCuomo We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely.

I can’t with that fool. I wish we could do with our entire government what companies do, clean house and re-org.

What is not open? Honestly, I don't see how this is a change of heart when there isn't much not open unless you're in a red zone.
As for vaccines, yes the sign ups are not going smoothly but many, many people are already vaccinated and now many, many more have appointments coming. No, its not always fair when it comes to who is allowed or able to sign up and when but last I read NY was doing much better than average in terms of getting vaccines administered.

We an start with restaurants in NYC for one. That is huge. No indoor dining in Dec and January? These places are going under and fast. Other places at 50 percent capacity. Barely enough to cover the overhead Bars Live Music Venues To name a few
If you or your family owned a restaurant or business in this category you would be singing a different tune I am quite sure.
