Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
Never worked here. Even at almost 4 if my DD goes to bed late I swear she wakes up earlier.

Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
It has worked for us, but it's the exception, not the rule. the same applies to keeping her busy and outside all day.
She may sleep until but she would most likely get up at 6:30.

Nope. No matter what, DS will always wake up between 7:00-7:30.

It's never happened in this house. No matter what time he goes to bed he is up at 6:30
same thing..it's like they have an internal clock that no matter what time they go to sleep they wake up at the same time

Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
for the most part, it works for us but then there are those few horrible days where she will wake up at 8 after going to sleep at 2

No luck here with that....if DS goes to bed more than two hours after his usual bedtime he wakes up earlier than usual the next day

Same here.
Christopher goes to bed between 9:30-10pm on days when my DH works, on days when he is home, he goes to sleep around 8-8:30pm. He will wake up at 7:30 on DH's work days and 9 on days when he is off!!
But if we are out for a long day, then he goes to bed late, then he will sleep later.

No, they have built in alarm clocks.

Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
I'm not sure if it is a success but we have gotten DS to go to bed a little later. I take DS on a stroller walk in the late afternoon and then put him in his swing after I feed him. DS falls asleep in his swing. This is usually around the time that DH comes home from work. He gets to hang out DH for an hour or two and then fusses for another hour so DS ends up sleeping later and wakes up later in the morning.
The routine is more for my sanity because by the end of the day, I'm beat but it made DS sleep later and wake up later.

Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
Nope doesn't work here. I tried putting her to bed at 8 or 830 and NO GO!!! She was consistently up at 3 or 4 am. But if I put her down at 930 or 10 then she sleeps until 830 sometimes 9. I would love for her to go to bed earlier but every time we try we are rewarded with her getting up at the crack of dawn without fail.

Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
DD is 2 and it does not work for us at all. She will wake up at 5:30am, whether we put her to bed at 6:30, 7, or 8:30pm!!!

Doesn't work here. In fact the opposite happens. If we put him to bed later he wakes up EARLIER!! And Ryan already wakes up between 5:30 and 6 as it is.
OMG, same here. We are night owls, so we tried to make DD stick to a schedule that's more suited to our schedule--we wanted her going to sleep around 9 and sleeping until 8 or 9. Well, sometimes we'll go out to dinner, over to a friend's, etc. etc. and be putting her to bed around 10. Yeah...she's usually up around 5 when we do that
But last night was a good example of how the opposite happens. She was EXHAUSTED so we put her to bed at 7:30, and she slept until 8 this morning!

Re: Has anyone been successful at putting DC to bed later, to get them to sleep later in the AM?
I think DD is just preprogrammed for around 6am...We have tried all the combinations, late nap-late bed, no nap early bed, etc... Late to bed just means earlier crankier baby...We put her in around 7:30 and she sleep to 6am DD will be ONE next week

nope that does not work for my ds, we found by putting him to sleep earlier he was sleeping longer.

Ditto. DD is 3 and this theory still doesn't work.
