So now people are bad people because their opinions differ. How splendid.
You know why it's the same few people talking on these threads? Because alot of people dont want to be flamed and called a racist, so they arent saying anything.
I doubt that's why.
And having different opinions is what makes the world go round.
I'm just happy that I have the choice to agree with them or not.
The proof is in the FM's. People are afraid to be called a racist if they express their opinion.
that's stupid. if your opinion is not based on race, and you believe it...just state it. people form opinons about each other all the time...racism is entrenched in our society...keeping your opinions to yourself does not make you more or less of anything...it just keeps it hidden.
I don't think the cops would have fired any less bullets if the kids happened to be white...I think there'd just be less cameras and microphones around..

This is why I prefer verbal conversations. On the internet, the niceties are removed. Everyone is bolder and often times, in order to express your opinions, you have to expect to be badgered or flamed with snide or sarcastic comments.
I find it better to just let the people who enjoy debating (fighting) go at it with each other.
They get what they want, and you can sit back and learn about people. And you can take away the points they make and decide for yourself what you believe.
Unfortunately, opinions I have had of certain posters have changed.

"be who you are and say what you feel, b/c thouse who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"
I don't think you have to be a racist either way to have a strong opinion about this...I think the word "racist" is thrown around WAYYYY too much.
EVERYONE has predisposed notions, both through experience and based on what you are taught...it's inevitable.
BUT, it shouldn't cloud your mind to the point where you can't get the truth to penetrate, b/c you NEED your view of things to be right...

Hey, I said what I had to say, and was called a racist without the word being used.
So, if that is the way people want to view me, because my opinion is different, so be it. No skin off my azz.

I don't think of it as bringing out the worst in people. It's just their opinions. Just because they vary from individual to individual doesn't make them wrong, it's just a debate.
debating is one thing...sweeping accusations, on any side, is another.
debates should be about facts...not about opinions, especially about something so emotional.
we are going to see the records (career and criminal) of all of the parties dragged across the mud of media..
some people, quite honestly, were talking out of their a$$es....
as a human, it's hard to stop yourself from "skewing" the facts with some of your own personal views, but at least it stems from fact, and not from what you think you know about people, about life.
Debates are always people talking out of their azzes. Abortion, politics, religions. You always take the truth and skew it with false ideas. That's what makes a good debate. So it's emotional. Only you can make it emotional if you let it bother you.
You can take any topic on this board and make it as emotional as this topic was if you wanted to. It's all about what you say. So some people didn't like what someone said. Guess what other people didn't like what another person said. It's life. People don't always agree. What for the next hot topic to come up.
The world is full of racist people. They aren't all white. EVERYONE needs to look in the mirror. There are racist staring back daily.
I guess...but a good debate is less fiction, more fact.
it's not so much about what people said...more than they actually believe the $hit that comes out of their mouths..
to be a cop...an NYPD officer...really IS an amazing and courageous thing...are there a few bad apples YES...but that doesn't take away from what the 37,000 other cops do every day, for every ONE.
getting caught up in some $hit when you're a stupid kid..happens to A LOT of young people (black, white, red, blue...it just depends on where you live) that doesn't mean they are "criminals" for the rest of their lives...
just b/c we are prone to judge, doesn't make it RIGHT.
You should always believe what you are saying. Otherwise why say it. And who is to say who is right or wrong?
You shouldn't judge all cops by a few cops or by a few past incidents that have given NYPD officers a bad name. If that's true than why is this such a "hot topic". We shouldn't be so upset about this incident. We should say thank God these officers who serve and protect our lives daily and look out for our children are still alive. Yes, it is a sad tragedy that these lives were loss, but it was because these cops were working undercover at this strip club.
Just like people of different races shouldn't be treated differently. No matter what.
Unfortunately, neither of these situations is handled equally. Minorities dislike all cops and some cops dislike the minorities.
Hmmm....what's wrong with that picture?

fears, predjudices, stereotypes...
pig cop, savage criminal...
you get to know a lot about people by what comes out of their mouth (or off their fingers) in situations like that.
I found the thread HIGHLY enlightening in that respect....I was almost surprised it was going so strong...but then again, not so much.
I feel the same way. I have no problem with disagreement, but I do have a problem with name calling and generalizing on any side of the social or political spectrum. I found the whole thread disturbing.

Not stew, but not forget. If something is said that is THAT hurtful, it must be a topic that is close to the heart and its not easily forgotten.
I think thats part of what the OP meant in the 1st place.

That's good- I feel the same way. That is very important. I try, when something is going on in my life, to stay focused on things like that. It keeps you having a strong sense of who you are- and allows you to really see your feelings.

Totally! But I personally always read my answers to myself before I hit "reply" and granted, I have been angry enough to say "good I hope this hurts them because they hurt me" but other times (more often than not) I erase it and dont say anything at all.
