Re: Moms of young toddlers - how are they handling the tree?

We have the tree up, but no ornaments on it yet - we're waiting until DH is feeling well enough to decorate with us.

But when he sees other trees, he just shouts - BALL!! BALL!! BALL!!

we have it in a gated off area, so he can only look at it, he loves the lights on the tree and menorah and will point and say "Christmas tree" and he tries to say"menorah" (it comes out sounding a little different as its a hard word to sayLOL)

DD didn't bother with it last year or this year. Chat Icon She asks me to put it on and once in a while will touch the ornaments or the lights, but once I say "no touch" she stops.

Pretty goodChat Icon The first few days she had to rearrange the ornaments but now she leaves it alone and just waits for the lights to turn on at dusk.

Knock wood, great Chat Icon He wals around it looking at it and likes if I hold him and we point out ornaments together. Thankfully he has been great with all the deocoations.

Cailen got a little crazy when the tree 1st arrived, and we all were putting on the ornaments. Understandably, he was excited and wanted to hold and play with the fragile ornaments. After one good tanrum, he "got" it.

Now, he is amazing. He looooooves the tree, but he never touches it!!!!

He says hi to it every morning and bye every night.

Every evening, after dinner, I hold him by the tree, and he labels all of his favorite ornaments, and asks "What is that?" for some of the others. It's so cute!!! Chat Icon

I mentioned the tree to someone, and he overheard, and said his first real sentence - "We got a tree!!!" Chat Icon Cailen never spoke more than 2-3 words together! Chat Icon

Was wondering how the other little guys are liking their trees so far! Chat Icon

OMG Cailen is too funny.

G was very curious when we first got it, but now he looks but does not touch. He is funny about it though b/c he will go right up to it and say "no touch" and walk away...like he is reminding us (or himself). He says "ooh tree" whenever he sees it. It is pretty funny.

He says that every morning when we come downstairs - I think he forgets it is there! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon They are so cute!

We haven't gotten around to putting up our tree yet. Chat Icon I'm definitely expecting at least one tantrum. I'll let you know.

my kids r too curious with everything...
thats why no ornaments this year---cookies.
They also throw things in it-but they tag team me and are home, I leave it lit.
They are waaaaaay too interested.
they even freaked when Santa came by on the firetruck and forgot the choo-choo..
I already traumatized them...lol

So far, so good. She has 1 ornament that she knows she can take off (and on, if she could do it! Chat Icon). The nanny said that DD kept poking the tree with one of her drum sticks (not the chicken kind Chat Icon), but hasn't really touched it. She did try to put her stuffed bear on the tree before, but I gently persuaded her not to! Chat Icon
