I just wanted to bump this thread. When I was looking at the posts I noticed it fell to the 2nd page. It hasnt even been a few days and I felt like this should still be one of the top posts. This man needs to be remembered and I just dont feel its getting the news coverage that it deserves.

So incredibly sad and senseless.

I disagree that this scumbag POS should automatically get the death penalty. He should be in solitary, with the minimum amount of food needed and no chance to ever see anything but the inside of his cell for the rest of his life. Lethal injection is the easy way out. This garbage does not deserve such respect, IMO.

DH and I have had a blue light on in our living room window since the day Officer Moore passed away. We will keep it lit until the funeral.

I agree, I feel like the media is not covering this enough, this is my hometown, and there needs to be more news coverage.

Just read this on Sachem Patch:

Massapequa Florist Gives Out 2,000 Blue Ribbons to Honor Brian Moore
Flowers by Edwards tied blue ribbons and gave them to patrons free of charge to honor the young officer's memory.

Tying a ribbon around a tree has become a traditional sign of remembrance and solidarity. Neighborhoods are dotted with yellow ribbons around Veterans Day for military forces or pink for breast cancer awareness in October.

This week, miles and miles of Massapequa streets are dotted with royal blue ribbons in remembrance of Brian Moore, the NYPD officer from the neighborhood who lost his life Monday.

“I graduated with Brian’s dad and all the kids in our family graduated with Brian,” said Laurie Logan, a florist at Flowers by Edwards in Massapequa. “We are all Plainedge grads here…It was the least we can do.”

Logan hand-tied more than 2,000 blue bows and gave them out free of charge this week in a simple act of solidarity in the wake of Officer Moore’s tragic death.

Flowers by Edwards had already run out of ribbons Tuesday night and had to order another shipment, which are due in store next Monday.

Moore, a 2007 Plainedge High School graduate, lost a two-day battle for his life Monday after he succumbed to injuries from a gunshot. The 25-year-old was shot in the head while on duty in Queens Village Saturday evening.

“ Cops mean something to us and this is the way of us doing it. It’s the only thing we can do,” Logan told CBS New York. “I wish we could do more for the Moore family, but I hope in someway this helps them.”

Logan and the Flowers by Edwards family were swamped Tuesday with patrons taking ribbons and ordering arrangements to leave for Moore’s family.

“So many have purchased things for the family here and left them on his family’s steps,” Logan said, adding they will begin working on floral arrangements Wednesday for Moore’s wake in Bethpage.

What a beautiful gesture to help bring the community together.

Re: NYPD Officer Brian Moore, shot in Queens, has passed away-

That's so nice about the florist.

I should add: big ups to James Cress in Smithtown who, when PO Ramos and PO Liu were killed gave my mother and I like WELL OVER two dozen beautifully made blue ribbons for our front porch and trees... They charged us ten dollars!! And there were A LOT. I had called other florists to inquire about pricing and was quoted $60-$70++

She still has hers up. I had mine up until two weeks ago when I moved. So I went back in when this happened to get more and again, they made me beautiful ribbons and this time didn't charge me at all.

What a wonderful thing.

Re: NYPD Officer Brian Moore, shot in Queens, has passed away-

I posted this on the other thread but it should be on here too:

I was talking to my boyfriend, a police lieutenant, who served our beautiful country as a marine, active duty for six years... And he gets a little worked up about how people bash police *sometimes* but, for the most part, he's so calm about it.

Watching TV about Baltimore and even Ferguson before it gets me up to a MILLION. And then to see something like PO Moore's death and the massacres of officers like the two NYPD in late December not getting nearly as much coverage bothers me so much. Tonight I finally said to him, how do you not get MORE upset?!

He has such a way about him Chat Icon he turns to me, looks up from his book, sighs, and goes:

Like Nicholson said in A Few Good Men, "I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of protection I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it."

Hicksville road is loaded with blue bows. It's so sad, but so uplifting to see how the whole community is coming together. Plainedge students are encouraged to wear blue on Friday.

I read on FB that Jetblue is flying any PO's to the funeral free of charge again. I'm already loyal to them but still in awe.

My DS goes to a school that is located in the area. As I was driving him this morning it was really touching to see all of the blue ribbons decorated up and down Hicksville Road. My DS' school had tied ribbons to the front poles too, which was nice. Tomorrow I will be sending him into school with a NYPD shirt on.

NYPD Officer Brian Moore, shot in Queens, has passed away-

I live in the neighborhood and it is so emotional driving around seeing all the bows tied to the trees. There is such a sadness in the air. This poor family it just breaks my heart. I live about a mile from the funeral home and church and they have closed down the entire street rightfully so. What a sad time for the community. This wonderful man will never be forgotten.

FYI -- Farmingdale Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, FRIDAY May 8th, due to PO Moore's Funeral Services.

I'm not sure about surrounding districts but my sister works in Farmingdale and just told me.

Oh wow I wonder if other SD's will follow suit. I know that my nieces' pre-k is closed tomorrow, and they go to a pre-k located in Plainedge Middle School. So far no word on a closing at my DS school though.
