I know there was something at his high school but not sure what is happening going forward.

Yes I heard about this too late. There was a vigil last night at Plainedge High School, where he graduated from.

I agree with what the CE said at the vigil, about strengthening the penalties/sentences for criminals who are convicted of violent offenses. This is the second time an offender has been released after serving time for attempted murder -- and is released in a short amount of time to take to the streets again only to murder the second time around! It is appalling.
The most recent was in late 2012 when PO Arthur Lopez was shot to death by a monster who had been released on time served for attempted murder... only to then kill an innocent, young police officer. Then, this incident where this mongrel was out roaming the streets after being released on time served for attempted murder. I'm sorry, you TRY to kill someone and FAIL, only by the grace of God, and you go away to prison for good... you don't get released after like 4, 5, 6, or so years!!!!! UNACCEPTABLE.
I'm so glad that the CE expressed those feelings. When he said what he said I was thinking AMEN, yes yes yes!

And the fact that it hasn't been shown on the news MORE is disgusting and lets the public who should know how careless this selfish SOB really is down. It truly lets them down.
I try and weigh my words sometimes but this sent me right over the edge. ONE NEWS OUTLET -- one little local news outlet showed this last night and I was IRATE. And the reporter later questioned him, how could you not go?? And he stammered and hid behind Bill Bratton and said that it wasn't his place to be there. The reporter was like not your place to be there to comfort the family of YOUR OFFICER?? YOU oversee the department -- you are the first person in the chain of command and when he died you weren't there?? And then when they went to announce to the world that he passed on, you DON'T SHOW UP and go about your normal schedule instead?!?! And he was like uhhhh.

I have said it before about this a- hole. He is going to turn the city back into what it was in the 70s and 80s. A crime ridden, graffiti filled toilet where you couldn't even walk through Times Square safely.
Crime is already on the rise since he took over.

I just saw this, someone posted an article in a fb group about recalling deblasio. He is such an idiot your relations with the police are already on shaky ground and then you pull this, where are his advisors if he is so stupid. I can't recall ever disliking a politician as much as I dislike him

I am not defending DiBlasio because I simpley cannot stand the man...but if you heard the press conference, Bratton said he told DiBlasio to stay away....this was at the end of the conference
How this came out was a reporter was grilling DiBlasio for not being there....so Bratton responded.
That was all stated at the press conference yesterday.

I am not defending DiBlasio because I simpley cannot stand the man...but if you heard the press conference, Bratton said he told DiBlasio to stay away....this was at the end of the conference
How this came out was a reporter was grilling DiBlasio for not being there....so Bratton responded.
That was all stated at the press conference yesterday.
Yeah that was BS in plain English -- there is NO WAY that happened. He just said that to cover DeBlasio's tuchus because he saw where the questioning was going and how badly the answers -- pathetic answers -- were coming across.
Then it was kind of a hail Mary of --- uhhh ummm well I told him not to come!
BULL!!!! That is the biggest load of SHIT!
And the saddest part is, I know he came up with that on the fly, but he couldn't even come up with a reason -- I told him to because.... uhh... just because. YEAH OK.
Yeah I saw the whole thing -- reporter asked questions, and DeBlasio said that he didn't think he needed to be there -- that's how you know Bratton was covering for him because if that was TRUE his answer should have been -- Bratton told me not to! BUT NO -- so then the reporter, Linda Schmitt, was like "you don't think it is appropriate or important for you to be present at the event announcing the death of one of your officers???" And then it was like the OH SHIT bells went off and after a few even more cringe-worthy exchanges and stammers, Bratton's like yeah I told him not to.
I CALL BULLSHIIT!!!
It is disgusting.
And last I checked, the PC doesn't command the Mayor -- the MAYOR is above the PC -- so the PC would never have the hutzpah to say to the Mayor - yeeeeah don't come. That just wouldn't take place.
That would be like me telling my boss not to go to something.
