I am feeling good today!! I was hungry yesterday for the first time in my whole pregnancy. It was strange- I forgot what hunger felt like 
We are seriously debating cord blood banking. DH is so scared that our children may develop cancer. So right now I think we're going to do it.
Ultrascreen is on Monday. DH can't come so my sister is coming with me.

My doctor mentioned the AFP test to me and said it
was optional, still not sure if we're doing it.
I'm 15 weeks and they changed my due date back to 10/7, even though the sonogram tech. said I'm measuring a week ahead. I had my last Dr.visit on Thursday and we heard the heart beat again....everytime I hear it it just melts my heart.
I absolutely love this thread. Thanks for starting it!!

I am 15 weeks, I am taking the AFP test tomorrow -have to go to Quest. I am taking it because it detects spina bifida, and will rule out that our baby does not have what our first baby had (anencephaly-form of spina bifida).
I didn't take this test with the 1st baby, and they only diagnosed it at the 20 week mark. Even though there is a high rate of false positives, this test is worth taking for my peace of mind.

I don't take mine until 28 weeks. My doc reccomends fasting before. My SIL ate before and she failed it and had to go and take the 3 hour.

Im trying to remember when I took mine for the first pg, lets see it was in october and I was due in december so around 26 weeks Im thinking
and I failed the 1 and 3 hour and had to take insulin shots 2x a day so this test was a biggie for me.
my dr told me to eat normal, so I did, the days before I actually ate a bit more desserts than usual totally forgetting about the test, so that morning I also woke up forgetting- in lala land- and I ate an everything bagel with butter- then I remembered and was omg!
so then I didnt eat anything else but I got so hungry so I ate 5 ritz with peanut butter 1/2 before I had to drink that gross drink. you only fast AFTER you drink that drink no food no water.
thankfully I passed but Im not out of the woods yet, they will be testing me down the road again, im just thankful its not this early.
I just read a post about fasting before the test- dont depending on your body and how it breaks down the insulin make sure you eat, if you dont the insulin poors out and comes out in your blood- resulting in failure- I learned this b/c I failed my tests in the past by fasting. for me I think the trick is protein, make sure you eat protein. its not like a blood test where you fast it is solely a glucose tolerance test to see how your body breaks down sugar- you need protein to break down sugar ( at least what I was told by diabetic center)

hi ladies!
well i went to my regular appt yesterday.. heard the heartbeat!  everything else was perfect!
and regarding the AFP test.. i didnt even have to say anything,, he said to come in 2 Weeks to get the test done..lol so i will be going ..
any other appt updates?!!!

I'm 13 weeks 2 days now. Still have morning sickness =-( can't wait until its over. I have another ultrasound next Monday so will have a better update then.
