Re: Official Alli Thread

So... for some reason at lunch today I decided to mosey over to the vending machines while my 'smart ones pot roast' was heating up.

I see things, and mmm do they look good. I look at the 3 musketeers bar, and it says "45% less fat!!"

Being a sucker for marketing, I put in my dollar and out pops a full size 3 musketeers bar.

Stats you ask? 260 Calories, 8 grams of fat. Not bad, considering my 'smart one' is only 170 calories and 5 grams of fat. I *could* eat the whole thing and still be on plan.

I brought a 100 calorie/3 grams of fat pack with me today to have as my snack with lunch, but then I realize I could have half the 3 musketeers bar for only 1 gram of fat more and 30 calories more.

Sold to the highest bidder. I'm chopping it in half and leaving the rest for after Monday's lunch. Mmmm. chocolate. I love you Alli, whoever you are.

(Can you tell it's AF week for me?)

Re: Official Alli Thread

I haven't been hungry all the time. For the most part I have been eating a lot of grilled chicken and veggies.

I haven't been snacking, which is very rare for me. However, the other night I was in the mood for ice cream so I went to Old Fashion and got Nonfat Frozen Yogurt, which is just as good.

I haven't felt more hungry than usual - I've felt the opposite, that I'm more satisfied with less.

For my typical day... I'm not a big breakfast eater so I'll have one of those quaker oats bars, and for a mid morning snack I'll have a piece of fruit. For lunch I'll have a lean cuisine type meal, and a 100 calorie snack pack of some type. Dinner is usually a salad with a low fat/fat free dressing, a piece of protein (steak/pork/chicken) and a veggie. Sometimes we'll skip the salad and have a potato in addition to our veggie side. Then at night, depending upon how many calories I've eaten during the day, my snack could be either a fat free pudding, fat free string cheese, fat free pretzels, etc. Sometimes our dinner is so filling and large that I don't even have a snack.

Re: Official Alli Thread

i am SO impressed with and inspired by all of you! i just read this entire thread from the beginning...the day alli came out, i was stalking cvs like a madwoman to get the first bottle, waiting outside when they opened becasue i was picturing a swarm of crazed chubby women like myself knocking each other over to get at it. i started them right away and the first day, went to a bbq and ate hot dogs, ribs, macaroni salad....ooooooh goodness did i learn a harsh lesson quickly! i had a little success (i don't weight myself because i really feel i would just rather DIE than know the number) and then stopped taking them becasue we went to mexico to an Ai resort...i never started up again when i got back...

this morning, i got back on the wagon. had my coffee with coffeemate creamer and the little 2 pack of uncle wally's muffins (these are AWESOME! fat free and 130 calories for 2, plus full of fiber and keep you pretty full untill lunch. they have them at king kullen....i love them!) and i am going to try and stick with it this time....i love to cook and eat, so it's really hard for me, but it's getting out of hand and you ladies have REALLY inspired me! keep up the great work!!!! Good Luck! I have to look into those muffins.. I'm always looking for breakfast options. Are they in the bakery section, or maybe an endcap area like the entenmanns?

Re: Official Alli Thread

Can I ask a question to the ALLI users?

Basically you dont need this pill because you are watching what you eat by eating low fat foods, low calorie etc.
A reason why anyone who does that would lose weight.

Chat Icon

ETA: Also, I see that the weight loss is quite significant in a wk.

I thought that losing anything over 2 pds a wk was most likely ALOT easier to put back on?

Just asking, need to lost a few pds myself.

The pill helps increase the weight loss. Alli forces you to eat healthy (stay within fat and calories) or else you are going to have nasty treatment effects and I mean NASTY.

The whole thing behind the pill is that it breaks down some of the fat. So if you normally ate healthy maybe you would lose 1-2 lbs a week, with the pill you could lose 3-4 lbs a week. It is a healthy loss. If you pig out after the diet of course it is going to go back on, no matter how much you lose in a week.

DH and I have been testing this part of the pills effectiveness. I wondered too if taking the pill made that much of a difference numbers wise or if its only benefit was added 'willpower' as I like to call it.

DH and I started dieting at the same time, we were about 20 pounds of each others starting weight. I call him "Control" and he calls me "Beta Tester" Chat Icon

For a while, control was keeping up with beta tester.... but now control is lagging behind, and not because of lax eating, we eat the same food, and actually he exercises more than I do. I've been losing at least 4 pounds a week, while after the first month he's gone down to 2 pounds a week.

That being said, every day when I step on the scale, I wonder if that is going to be the week it slows down - I cringe thinking that "this is gonna be the week!" But so far so good it hasn't happened yet! *knock on wood*

Re: Official Alli Thread

week 4: I only lost 1 lb.

This was a bad week. I am very bloated and feel gross from good old AF. Also, we had 2 birthday celebrations and a shower, so there was a few days I didn't take the pill.

Overall, though I will take the 1 lb. Better than gaining any back.

There are some mentions in this thread - I've found a short descrption of my meals and pasted below.

It's the diet recommended by the National Heart Association. It's a low fat, restricted calorie diet, where 30% of your calories come from fat. (For most people, the guidelines are 1800 calories per day, 15 grams of fat per meal. If you FM me your weight and activity level, I can look up what guidelines they would recommend for you in my book before you buy.) What I like is that there is no real exclusion of food groups, it's just about sensible eating that I can continue for the rest of my life. I've done Atkins before, lost about 100 pounds on it, but of course gained it back plus more when I started eating carbs again...

Sometimes we'll skip the salad and have a potato or rice in addition to our veggie side. Or, sometimes we'll have a pasta dish, bread and salad. Then at night, depending upon how many calories I've eaten during the day, my snack could be either a fat free pudding, fat free string cheese, fat free pretzels, etc. Sometimes our dinner is so filling and large that I don't even have a snack.

It's ALOT of food, more than I had expected. I'm rarely hungry during the day. Sometimes I need to make my self eat more than I would even pick at this point. You learn to cut fat and calories in places to make the program fit. (Even 2 weeks ago I had a 3 musketeers bar...mmm chocolate)

As for the great negative stigma that this diet has gotten - if you stick to the plan, the things that they mention shouldnt happen to you. Only when you cheat would there be a problem - if you follow the diet you are fine and there is nothing to worry about. Problem is, most people can't read and follow directions, so they don't understand how the pill works and end up feeling the negative consequences.

Good Luck to you!
