So today is my 3rd day of Alli, and so far no side effects what so ever!!!!

just keep in mind sometimes the TE's take 24-48 hours to kick in from a certain meal.

And no TE's mean you're following the diet correctly!

Thats why I still laugh about the bad reputation this pill gets. Everyone thinks that you randomly get these attacks when you take the pill. They don't realize that if you don't cheat and actually do what you're supposed to do, you're fine and you get the added benefit of not absorbing some fat & calories.

Exactly the shear fact that if we touch a meal thats fatty it will send DH & I running to the bathroom is reason enough to stay on track. My co-workers were asking me all day yesterday if I had the hershey squirts Chat Icon Chat Icon Such a classy bunch Chat Icon

That's why IRL I've limited the amount of people that I've told. My family, DH's family, coworkers and most of my friends don't know that I take it.

Only 2 coworkers (might) know, because they snuck up on me in my office while I was putting the pill bottle away. I saw one look at the bottle multiple times and the other I'm not so sure about. Now if the looker knows what it was, I don't know.... I didn't want to do the hide the bottle/rush it away becuase then it would look suspicious...

I try to be discrete with it too, especially since all the "bad" side effects everyone has heard about. I want to Avoid that conversation.

Re: Official Alli Thread

This week I lost 4 pounds. This puts my 7 week total to 29.8 pounds lost. This upcoming week is AF week....

I did have some TE's this weekend. I made a boxed pasta salad as a side for lunch this Saturday, and even though I could swear that I counted my fat grams correctly I did have some oil present after using the bathroom on Sunday.

DH and I were talking about it, and we were thinking maybe I did count my fat grams correctly, but just the fact that it used vegetable oil, (we usually use olive oil for cooking) or the fact that it wasn't absorbed into other food caused my body to freak out. I have been using olive oil in cooking and butter on bread/bagels sparingly thruout the previous weeks, and it hasnt affected me this way.

Not a big deal to me.... it hasnt been inconvenient, and I'll give up pasta salad as a side in order to continue on this path.

My best advice would be when you purchase the starter kit to actually Read the material they give you. They take the time to put some good stuff in there and I have found it all to be very helpful.

Also, when you buy any Alli product they give you a code for myalli.com. There you can record loses, find recipes and chat with other alli users. I have found this to be very helpful as well.

I am no way in the same position (wish I was!!) but I'd say that being 4 pounds below the limit I would try it. 4 pounds isn't that much.

If you had said you were 10 pounds lighter than the limit, then I'd think twice, but I think being off by 4 pounds isn't that much. Hey, you'll be 4 pounds lighter after your first week, so just think you started a week ago.

I started Alli last week, and I am below the minimum requirement. I 'm 5'3 and 145lb, and according to their guidelines, I should be at least 152.

I've had no problems all week, I am going to weigh in tomorrow for thefirst time.

Re: Official Alli Thread

I know this may be a little TMI but is anyone getting TE when staying under the allowed fat grams? Based on my weight it says I can have 18 grams of fat and I am usually around 12 or so, however once I get to about 16 or so I notice TEs.

I haven't had that problem (yet).

Hmm... are you sure that some more fat isn't slipping in? Like a little extra olive oil during dinner, a little extra salad dressing on your salad at lunch? I know sometimes its hard to measure liquids like that, and sometimes a liquid 'blurp' will make me to put in more than I really intended to. Chat Icon

Or maybe are you right on the borderline and its time to lower your fat/calories? They also always reference the percentage of fat you are taking in your diet, not just the number of fat grams - maybe your daily percentage of fat is too high on those days (over the 30%) and its causing distress?

From reading the Alli message boards, I have seen posts about what you have mentioned; the nutritionist usually just says YMMV...
