Re: ***Official OCTOBER 2012 Mommy to be thread!!****

I just wanted to say hi to all the october mommies... i havent been posting as much as usual lately but love reading everyones updates.
liveitup, im glad u didnt have to deliver yet - try to take it easy!
Maryb, ur babies are just precious! Omg!
Im glad to read that im not the only one feeling uncomfortable - it makes me feel a little better that the things im feeling are pretty "normal". I def dont want to be a whiner but i am sooo uncomfortable - horrific back pain, trouble sleeping, exhausted, constant feeling like i need to pee, cant get comfortable in any position, nausea, pressure, shortness of breath when i do the simplest thing, you all know and get it im sure. My weight gain is definitely contributing to it all and my 13 hour days at work are weighing on me now im just getting blah and cranky. Crankypants me. Waaaahhhhh. Cant wait til its all our turns! LiveItUp, so glad to read your update! Take it easy and hang in there! Chat Icon

YourMama, haven't noticed too much difference in how much movement I feel, but they're definitely getting a lot more uncomfortable, and even a little painful at times!

Hope you're all feeling as well as can be at this stage! Only a few more weeks to go!

It's so weird. I was complaining of back pain and I went to work last night. It was a crazy bus 12 hours. And somehow my back wasn't hurting anymore by the end of the night. I slept pretty well during the day. I'm excited because I was going to discuss stopping working this week but I think I can go longer. I hope everyone else is feeling well.

Yourmama I still feel movement although it's not really kicks as much anymore. I still get some but mostly she's turning.

Back pain started in the last week, owwwwww.
Also breast pain just started up, and I googled it - its common.

Just spent alot of money buying stuff for this baby, even though we had so much baby gear from ds that we are reusing... I also bought a few pieces of girl clothes/blankets and IL's and godmother have bought some clothes to give us. Getting a little freaked out as I still have to buy diapers, formula, shampoo, wash, lotion, etc..

I had my first internal today (37 weeks) 50% effaced, no dilation. Hoping you have some progress!!! My last day working is this Friday. Its getting too uncomfortable to commute and sit here all day.

i feel the same way about the 1-1.5hr commute each way and sitting at a desk for 9 hours...along with the crankiness, back pain and swollen ankles/feet. fingers crossed for tonight. i'm wondering if they will give me a date to induce since i have GD if i dont go on my own before due date.

Might be early to schedule it. I think docs like to do 40 weeks for diet controlled GD and 39 weeks if you are on meds. I read somewhere they don't like to induce before 39 weeks unless necessary because the lungs might develop later when you have GD.

On the GD... before I was on the medicine(just diet controlled) dr said he wouldn't have me go past 39 weeks...... There needs to be a serious health condition for Winthrop to induce before 39 weeks. in typical pregnancy lung developed at 37 weeks.........

I wasn't aware it takes longer with GD...I'm going to have to ask my dr about the steroid shot because baby is probably coming earlier.

Do you think you'll be induced earlier, or the baby is just ready to come out?

If your GD has been well managed (either by diet or meds), I think the lungs are more likely to develop on schedule, but your doctor will know best. Does Winthrop do an amnio first if they are inducing early?

Hi ladies! All is well over here - but I am SO done with work. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm a teacher, and being on my feet all day and not being able to go to the bathroom, eat, test (my blood for GD), and commuting is KILLING me. Did I mention my ankles are unREAL at the end of the day? Not to mention I now go for stress-tests 2x week and have to either leave work early or come in late to do them.... (Am I complainging too much!?)

When did you stop working? I'm at 36 weeks and I'm talking to my doctor today about getting a note. I just can't keep going. I feel like I'm burning at both ends.Chat Icon

I'm a teacher, too, and am SO GLAD that I didn't return this school year. My doc wanted me to stop working at 34 weeks (I have a few risk factors for pre-term labor) which was the first day of school, so I had a doctor's note from the end of last school year saying that I would not be working as of Sept. 1.

If it's really putting too much stress on your body (which it sounds like it is), then I don't see why your doc wouldn't write you a note. Take care of yourself. Chat Icon

Did you all install your car seat/base? If not - when do you plan on it??

ETA: I haven't yet, and I'm 36 weeks. Not sure when I should!

My brother was in town visiting over the weekend and just left yesterday. I asked DH last night if he wanted to try to install the base and I'd just go get it checked or if I should bring it in and have it installed. He said he wants to do it and will do it this week. We had it done around this time last pregnancy too.

I have an appointment this afternoon and am hoping to find out if there's any progress!!!

(Oh, the reason my brother's visit was relevant is that we only have two seats in the back seat so if we'd installed it before he left, we'd have had no room for him in the car lol.)

Man do i hate these internals! no progress here as far as dilation goes but my cervix is thinning out Chat Icon i know things could change over night! doc said that if need be, we will induce in 39th week due to GD. i should know more at my next weekly visit though. so far, so good, baby is measuring in 63rd percentile at 7lbs 4oz already.

at 36 weeks, i'm still feeling mostly ok (knock on wood). DH and I moved into our new house FINALLY yesterday and now i've got nesting-fever but can't really do much since i shouldn't be lifting / bending much / etc obviously. So it's tough but i'm happy.

I have a dr's appt tomorrow with my first internal. Kinda excited to find out if i'm starting to dilate/efface (though i kinda doubt it)

I am a teacher as well, and I am hoping to work until the end. Some days it sucks, but I don't want to sit at home all day waiting for Chat Icon to arrive either. And I want to get paid for as long as possible. So I am hoping to stick it out for a couple more weeks at least. Hope your dr writes you a note today Chat Icon

***Official OCTOBER 2012 Mommy to be thread!!****

I swear, going to my OB is the most frustrating part of my whole pregnancy!!! My appointment was at 1:30 today and I got there a few minutes early and asked if they were running on time when I checked in and they told me they were on time. So I asked if I could schedule my next appointment now to save time checking out. In the midst of doing that, her computer crashed. Ok, no big deal... well, apparently the whole office system was down. I was like ok, that's annoying, but whatever. So she just said to go pee in a cup and have a seat... well, 30 minutes later I hear them call the lady who came in 15 minutes after me who had an appointment 15 minutes after me... so I went up and asked what was going on because my appointment was for 1:30. She said "oh, I'll have to find her nurse and let her know!" and I waited another 20 minutes. She finally put me in a room and I waited ANOTHER 20 minutes! So by then it was almost 1 h 15 minutes after my appointment time. So much for "running on time"!!! I was panicking because I'd parked in a one-hour spot and if my car was towed I would've gone absolutely nuts!!!

My midwife finally came in, did the GBS swab, measured me, listened to the baby's hb, and checked me (no progress yet). Then she left. I actually asked her if she'd forgotten about me and she said it was because the computer system was down they got very backed up since she had a new patient and couldn't review the history at all and had to do it all in person. I'm still upset. Thankfully my car was still there, but the stress was awful!

I also didn't ask her any questions until after I walked out into the hall after because we were both so flustered. She apparently wants me to start doing kick counts. I don't want to do kick counts. I didn't do them last pregnancy. I see no point. I don't really have a few hours a day to "drink a large glass of ice water and concentrate only on how many kicks over an hour" -- I mean cmon, who has time like that? I have a toddler to care for -- I can't just lay still for an hour feeling my belly!

Sigh. I'm just annoyed. Thanks for listening to me vent.

sorry you had a horrible appointment, Sandra! Chat Icon

I was told to do kick counts a few weeks ago ... i've been donig them half-a$$ed. When i feel one kick, that's when i start (not at a certain time each day). At first, i was doing them twice a day (Dr told me to do them 3 times per day) ... now i prob do them once a day, if that. Whatever, it's fine! I'd know if something was wrong!

Went to the dr for my 37 week visit. I'm a fingertip dilated although I don't exactly know what that means Chat Icon At my sono last week, he was 5lbs 15 oz.
Also found out that I have strep B. If anyone has any experience with this would love to have more info.
