opinion on wedding venue
I've been to at least 5 weddings at Westbury Manor. Always a good time and no complaints. I really like the outdoor ceremony and outdoor cocktail space.

You know I've been to a million weddings on LI, and way too many catering halls to count. Of your options, my order would be Inn at NHP, then Woodbury CC, then Westbury Manor.
But as others said, I also recommend checking out North Ritz (I'm obviously super biased toward them), Giorgio's, Carlyle on the Green, Larkfield Manor, DeSeversky, Bourne Mansion.
I don't know who u are lol but can u pleaseeee contact me

thanks all!!! still torn!! i just contacted central park and the bronx zoo. lol!
so i had a 2:00 dress appointment today and i found THE dress ( i think ) in under 5 minutes.
why cant finding a venue be that easy?
I know someone who got married at the Aquarium and someone else at Botanical Gardens. Both GORGEOUS!!! And different than the typical wedding venues.
You guys are fun and adventurous and always traveling. Pick a place that best represents you two.

Some food for thought: since you are going to limit it to close friends and family, do you really need the fanfare of the cocktail hours, music/dancing, cake cutting, etc.? Why not find a nice restaurant, with good food and a musician to play background music? That way, you can tailor it to fit you and FH's style without adhering to the typical LI wedding reception. However, if the LI wedding is what you want, than I can't help because I'm an old hag celebrating her 15th wedding anniversary this year. LOL. Someone mentioned "One if By Land" which I thought sounded interesting.

This. I know of at least 2 weddings that were about 50 people that were in restaurants. One was a seafood restaurant and the other was a steak restaurant in Manhattan.

the water's edge is great in LIC- if it's on a sunday, you get the whole restaurant for cocktail hour. No site fee, and the whole place has floor to ceiling windows with gorgeous views of the NYC skyline

I think it closed due to its owners' legal problems.

If you're a true foodie chances are the 90% of the reception halls you go to will not meet your standards. Some obviously have better food than others but probably not the quality that you are used too.
My cousin is getting married in a few months. She ended up renting a loft in Dumbo (26 bridge) and catering the food separately from a restaurant she loves. This is another way you can go. It's a little more time consuming though because you have to find servers, decorations, etc.
Didn't read all the comments but has anyone suggested the green room in Brooklyn? It's an amazing space. And you cater in any food you want. I had a great time there. Been to a few weddings.
