If you're a true foodie chances are the 90% of the reception halls you go to will not meet your standards. Some obviously have better food than others but probably not the quality that you are used too.
My cousin is getting married in a few months. She ended up renting a loft in Dumbo (26 bridge) and catering the food separately from a restaurant she loves. This is another way you can go. It's a little more time consuming though because you have to find servers, decorations, etc.
Didn't read all the comments but has anyone suggested the green room in Brooklyn? It's an amazing space. And you cater in any food you want. I had a great time there. Been to a few weddings.
11,600 site fee..

No way! My cousin just got married there. I cannot picture her paying that. I am texting her now lol.
Have to looked at coindre hall? It's an old Gold Coast mansion. I also love the barn at caumsett park. Chelsea mansion. And I've seen pictures of the royalton it looks beautiful. And finally the woodlands is nice too, it used to be called the Delano mansions. I like mansions of you can't tell lol.

Let me know what your cousin says. 11,600 is high season Saturday night.
I just saw a commercial for q-zar. I'm tempted to have a laser tag wedding at this point

Re: opinion on wedding venue
I've only been to Westbury Manor. The outside cocktail hour was beautiful but everything else was a bit underwhelming.
I will agree with those who mentioned The Royaltun. Also The Allegria Hotel was beautiful and if I remember correctly the food was good. I remember wishing i was having a smaller wedding so we could get married at My Moon in Brooklyn. And there's always my dream venue, The Foundry in LIC. Sorry, you didn't ask for opinions of other venues but I just got excited and started to ramble. I really loved wedding planning haha. Congrats on the (possible) dress!

Re: opinion on wedding venue
We got married at Fox Hollow right before they opened the new room. We had a huge guest list and no help with the budget. Fox Hollow's pricing was insane, especially considering what was included and what they added to our package at the final meeting. Keep in mind we got married on a Friday in February with a 250 person minimum so they were totally willing to negotiate. I had a few minor issues with other vendors but Fox Hollow went above and beyond.

My Kitchen in Forest Hills? I remember that being on my list in the beginning. And Rare 650 has a beautiful private room. Maybe not AS pricey as the city?

Out of those three, I like NHP Inn the best. I went to a wedding there and the cocktail hour was insane. They obviously upgraded everything, but I remember it being a very nice wedding.
Since nobody else mentioned it and you are still searching, have you looked at the Riviera in Massapequa? I'm biased bc I got married there, but the food was excellent, it's small and quaint, on the water, one wedding at a time, price was reasonable. I feel like not too many people know about it for some reason. I was so happy with everything that I'm looking for a reason to have another party there.

I was just married there in May. If your having 100 people the riviera is perfect for you and the price you cant beat. I loved it.....

yeah that is crazy. my cowoker's son is getting married next month at the fox hollow, in their smaller room, they supposedly got a good deal. I know that the food there is good. $260 is insane especially when you are saving money to buy a house.

The most expensive places are ones that only do 1 wedding at a time (Royalton, etc.) Any place that does more than 1 event a time can automatically discount their prices. Higher minimums will also lower the price per person. And then the day of the week/time will factor in also.
My friend had a beautiful wedding at the Palm Court at the Carltun, maybe that's a good option too!

We got married at Marina Del Rey. The view is beautiful and the food was amazing. People still talk about the food at our wedding and we got married almost 6 years ago.

I cannot believe how expensive it is now. I was married there in 2007 and $125 (which I knew was on the higher end back then) but I cannot believe this. Is that for a Saturday? When did weddings get this crazy??

One of the biggest changes in the industry is that the "service fee" or "gratuity charge" is now included in the price per person. So whereas before, say, the price was $100pp plus tax and 20% (100+20+10.35= $130.35), now they're base price is $120 plus tax. So for the more expensive venues, like a Royalton, back out that 20% service charge and the base price is actually $215pp plus $43 in service charge = $258pp. If that already includes tax, it's closer to $195.
And again, every place has their own schpiel about what's included, "inclusive pricing", etc. Just make them break down every per person price and see what charges or fees are included or not.

Me too, around the same time. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw what it costs now.
I think it was very new back then, and that's why it was so inexpensive when we booked...they were not established yet.

TP does one event at a time. I didn't pay more than $100 for a Saturday night in September. But it's not super fancy or anything. I did love it though.

I am glad we found it when it was new. The food was fantastic, the room was everything I wanted and they treated you great. Even though I was bummed yesterday to find out I could of had my wedding at the Bronx Zoo. haha.

Yep, this is about right. We looked into the Green Room and catering would have been at least an extra $150/pp.
