Dogs are not human so there is no need for them to be in a store. I am sick of seeing them sitting in carts, or in their "mommies" arms or even worse propped in a child carrier. Unless they are seeing eye dogs they should be left outside. I don't give a dang how small they are.
Before it is said I yes I do love dogs!!
To each is own..... BUT until I'm escorted out of the mall for having my dog in a bag (not bothering anyone) you'll still see me shopping with her and minding my own business.

Re: Pets in grocery stores!
I absolutely adore my dog; the love I have for him can't even be expressed. But he's a dog, and for the most part, I treat him like a dog. When I run errands, he doesn't come with me. He stays at home in his crate. We rarely ever take him anywhere in the car, except for maybe if it's a nice day and we want to stroll around outdoor shopping centers where dogs are allowed.
Having said that, dogs do not belong in supermarkets IMO, not matter what their size.

Re: Pets in grocery stores!
I think the only service animals should be allowed in grocery stores.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a health code violation for animals to be in grocery stores.

That's like saying if no one SEES you shoplifting you're going to go ahead and do it.

Re: Pets in grocery stores!
I don't want to start any problems but it is not up to the mgr or owner of any store that carrys food weither or not pets are allowed in it is A HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. If the dept of health is in any store that is serving/ selling food and there are animals in there they will be fined, possibly closed for this.

Re: Pets in grocery stores!
Only service animals are allowed.
Technically it's unsanitary.
I had my ferret in his carrier (hard case. On my way home from the vet) and ran into the supermarket because I had to pick up a prescription and got repramanded by the pharmacy manager and he refuse to give me my prescription or help me because I was violating the stores health code. He game me a lecture in a half.
I went home and had to wait for DH to get home to get the medication

But if there is a sign saying, "No dogs allowed", you do it anyway?
Agree there are plenty of dirtier people out there. I don't want them touching fruits & vegetables either, but there isn't a sign that says, "No dirty people allowed"

Are you seriously comparing me bringing my dog to a store in the mall to shoplifting?? I don't think what I'm doing is criminal. : NOt sure I see your correlation there....
I've had my dog for 3 years and I've brought her with my places all of her life - not once have I been asked to leave anywhere b/c of her. Granted, I do not go anywhere where there might be food served - but the mall, Petco places like that I wasn't even aware that I couldn't bring her as it has never been a problem.

SAME HERE!!! My dogs are PERFECT in public, and if I'm in the car with one of them and I need to stop somewhere? I will NOT be leaving my little one in the car alone. THAT, IMHO, is worse than bringing pets in the store. SO, if you see a short girl with highlights in the store with a CUTE YORKIE, YES, ladies and gents, THAT WILL BE ME.
