However, I tend to wonder how hard it is for that child growing up. We all know how evil reality is and how horrible kids can be.
This is definitely something I have thought about too- but 1) I feel like kids are mean no matter what, for a variety of reasons and 2) kids today seem a lot more accepting. Many of my students have surprised me- in a good way- with their views and openness about things like this. I know that's a weird dichotomy that I just wrote.
