I'm getting the full anatomy scan at about 16 weeks. Based on this board, it seems that most doctors in NY only do a Level II at 18-22 weeks. I'm in CT. It seems many CT doctors tend to do the full anatomy scan instead and only do the Level II if necessary (age, medical problems/family history of medical problems, etc).

Thank you for the explanation. I never heard about it until you. But you may be right.

How easy is the doppler to use. I am seriously considering renting one

I wonder with tiwns how will I picl up each pnes HB?

Mine is so easy to use, I know where mine implanted so basically I lay down on the couch or bed and put the ultrasound gel on my lower stomach and turn it on. I got the digital one so that I can see the hb count. I love mine and it makes me sane until I feel some movement.Chat Icon

I *think* I know where mine are too. I ordered it last night from bellybeats and used this coupon code:

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!

Hello all :)

I'm 14 weeks and 2 days today. Gained 7 lbs so far and finally starting to feel better thanks to Zofran. Very small pot belly - looks like I'm bloated.

I had my ultrascreen last week - they couldn't tell us the sex.

I got on 7/12 for my 17 week ultrasound...woohoo more pictures and hopefully we'll get to know the sex :)

Level II is scheduled for July 25 and we will definitely find out the sex then.

How's everyone else doing?

But, they wouldnt even look!
I have my next appt on 7/14 and I guess they'll do the AFP then.
I cannot wait to find out what the baby is at my 20 week appt.

2nd Trimester here we come!

I think most of us are there already though. How does everyone feel now that you're past that 1st trimester hurdle?

Feeling less symptoms anyone? I know I am! I'm not eating like a pig like in the 1st trimester although I'm still urinating every hour! :P

I can't believe I'm entering my second trimester. As far as symptoms the constipation is BAD! I also have lots of stretching pain and muscle soreness all through my abdomen even up by my ribs. Headaches are intermittent. Still waking up to pee

Hey guys Chat Icon is does feel like crossing a hurdle to be in the 2nd trimester Chat Icon

Alot of the symptoms have gone away, I thought I had regained my energy then last week I was back to exhaustion and falling asleep at 8:30 Chat Icon

My Dr told me to take Colace for the constipation, that has really been helping.

I have been having some soreness and light cramping in my lower abdomen, not too bad - but it does make me wonder what is going on in there Chat Icon

I am pretty much in maternity pants full-time now, I do have a few pre-PG pants I can wear, but most anything with buttoms is just uncomfortable and not worth it. It is so nice to be comfortable Chat Icon

I feels so amazing to be starting the second trimester. I can't believe how fast the first one flew by. I'm also feeling great other then random cramping/stretching pains in my lower stomach and my abs being sore as if I did a ton of crunches. My boobs also don't hurt as much as they did. I Chat Icon the next two trimesters go by as fast because I can't wait to hold my baby!!! Feel good girls!!!

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!

I cannot believe we are finally starting our second trimester...This couldn't come quickly enough for me.
Lately this past week I have found that I am exhausted by 8:30...I move around all day long and all of a sudden I just give out.
I am still getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but luckily only once and I am able to fall right back to sleep.
I had really bad insomnia for a few weeks, I thought I was going to go crazy.
Headaches come and go, but when I get them, they're bad! I take a tylenol and hope that does the trick.

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!

Hi Ladies,

Glad to hear everyone is doing so good!!!

Update on my pregnancy (sorry long)

It has been a crazy 4 weeks...a wild roller coaster ride....it all began with my ultrascreen rsults....the sono itself was great and baby measured perfect but my bloods came back as high risk for Down's....we were shocked and devasted....I didn't know what to think..we were told to do an amnio....after a long talk with DH we decided to do it..it was not an easy decision but I needed the piece of mind....I had my amnio done last Wednsday (at 15w3d) at North Shore Hospital....it wasn't bad at all...the amnio lasted for like a minute...before that we got a Level II scan of the baby (they looked for Downs markers - there weren't any) which made me feel better...the baby is also measuring about 5 days ahead which was also a good sign.....after that I went home and rested for the rest of the week...I had no side effects (no spotting, no cramping) and felt great....mentally I was a wreck...I lost 5lbs since my ultrascreen from being nervous....

we got the fast results (FISH test) on Monday and they are NORMAL!!!!!! baby is totally normal and healthy!!!!! I have been on cloud 9 ever since!!!! let me tell you, what a relief.....we will get the full result on Friday....when they called me on Monday they asked if we wanted to find out the sex (they know from the amnio), I said no because we didn't want to find out....now we do and I can't wait for Friday to find out!!!!

It was a false positive for us which I am happy about...they said becasue I carried twins and lost one, there might be some cells left in my uterus that still produce the high HCG that I have and that is why the false alarm....either way I feel totally blessed...

Profile of the baby from the amnio sono (DH's big nose..lol)

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!

Hi December Mommies!

I am so happy to be out of the first trimester, though I am still feeling a lot of ms--probably every other day, nothing like weeks 8-13 thankfully...I go for my 16 week appointment on July 9th--I don't know what to expect. I think he is going to do the second half of the screening--at least that is what he tld me at my last appointment.

I had some spotting and bleeding last week and had to rush over to the dr. He did a sono, saw the heartbeat, checked my urine and did and internal and didn't see any blood. He told me it was probably from wiping so much--I probably pee about 20 times a day--no exaggeration. It was scary, but I am relieved.

I can't wait for 20 weeks already! I am dying to know Chat Icon or Chat Icon !

I'm soooo excited to be in the second trimester. I have my AFP on July 8th and then LevelII on August 4th!!! I can't wait to find out what we're having!!!!!
I'm having really bad headahces and waking up to pee a lot, as well as on and off pulling and streching all through my abdomen, thats probably the most annoying part along with the headaches...I'm still getting the shocked looks of "you're pregnant wow!" I see a baby bump for myself, but no one else doesChat Icon

My AFP is also July 8. I am very nervous about it. I don't have the level 2 booked yet, why don't I? My dr hasn't even mentioned this to me yet, but I know I will do it.
No one sees your baby bump b/c they are too busy looking at the upper half, LOL (your words, not mine). Chat Icon

LOL, my Dr hasn't mentioned the Level II yet either, he gave us a list of tests in the very very beginning and it was on that list but he nomally mentions the tests at the appt before, so I'm going for my 16week/AFP at his office then, so I'm sure he'll mention for me to make the appt then...I just wanted to get the earliest appt, bc I'm insanely neurotic and need to know that I'm finding out NOW Chat Icon
True about my upper half, but when I'm not wearing anything too revealing, which even things that aren't supposed to be revealing are turning into revealing....for example went to the bagel store I have been going to since I was 10, and the owner who has know me since I was 10 was like woah, you're getting big there, pregnant boobies....this is a MAN btw!!!!
Those are the only comments I'm getting, I want to get how cute is ur belly, not wow you're pregnant tatas look greatChat Icon

he said that to you? OMG

Mine are on the larger side, always were, but don't see any drastic changes just yet at all, as you describe.

I know my paternal gma went up two cup sizes (while starting off as a D already) and never went back down. So we shall see...for me, it's mostly all belly right now. I look about 5 mths pg at least.

Don't scare me, I started out as a D and am forcing myself into a DD while its still comfortable, which I'm pushing...
My mom of course who always knows how to console me told me to stop complaing and wait until I BF...which made me oh so happy....

Hi ladies,

I am so happy to be in my 2nd trimester. I definitely have a little belly, I'm 15 1/2 weeks pregnant.

I can't wait to go back to the doctor, which isn't until July.

Has anyone bought anything yet??
I haven't....but I'm really itching to.

Other than maternity clothes, I have no desire to buy baby items. I want to be way more secure in my pg before doing that. Very scary step for me! 15 weeks here this week too.
