Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
I am not sure why they are measuring my cervix. It may be because ofthe twins. I pretty much get an ultrasound any time I want one because of my history(4 pregnancy losses-most likely due to them being ectopic but we are not sure, on lovenox and prednisone etc)
If you feel you should be monitored more closely your Dr should work with you and figure out a way for your insurance to pay for it. Just be demanding and insist My DH is a hardazz and has my back always so that doesn't hurt

It may be b/c of your losses and the twins combined. That does make sense. We really sort of pushed for one today, repeatedly asked without directly saying "DO ONE". Our dr felt it wasn't necessary....it's so hard to trust I have to say. Sigh.

Hi everyone! I guess I'm almost 16 weeks although I had another sono today and the baby was measuring a week ahead again.
I'm definitely feeling flutters now. has been pretty active the past 2 days. I thought I first felt them several days ago, but wasn't sure. Now, I'm sure I'm feeling the baby.
Tina - my doctor has measured my cervix at least twice (today and when I had my bleeding scare several weeks ago). Both times, the measurements were done by sonogram. I hope everything is ok with you.
Can I ask why you had a sono today? I am confused, why are some of us getting sonos and some of us are not? My next one is not until 20 weeks, last one was ultrascreen at 11.3 weeks.
And I too wonder, when are they going to measure my cervix also?
I too felt a flutter last week. I haven't felt it since.
I had a full anatomy scan today. I am not having a Level II. According to my doctor, based on my age and family medical history (and the fact that everything looked good today), I don't need one. The anatomy scan was performed at my doctor's office. Apparently, if I had a Level II, it would have to be performed at an outside facility. I live in CT and this seems to be more of a common practice here than in NY. Some doctors perform 2 anatomy scans: 1 around 16 weeks and then the Level II at 18-22 weeks. Some just jump straight to the Level II. My doctor just performs the earlier scan as long as everything is fine.

Thank you for explaining. It's so confusing to see how differently each dr does things!!!!

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
I'm 15 weeks 5 days and I had my AFP done today. No sonogram but I did get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was the most amazing sound!!!
I have been feeling pretty good. I was a bit nervous before my appointment because I have been feeling so normal. I do still have to pee a lot a night and I keep getting a pulling sensation in my lower stomach.
I can't believe how fast time is flying!!! I hope the remainder of my pregnancy goes this fast. Feel good girls!!!

Happy Birthday Dani (belated)
I have another u/s Tuesday so I'm going to ask the tech about the cervix measurement and then tell my doctor what he said. I know my dr is amazing and knows what she's doing but I had a m/c before and at 18wks I don't want to have anything happen this time. I'm going to have to be a PITA too They only need to deal with me for another 5 months.

I hear ya!
We saw our dr yesterday and we pretty much asked about 10 times, "So you don't need to do an US?" He was like, no. I too am worried b/c I have fibroids, and I thought they had to "watch" them more often and watch the cervix. I too know my dr is great, been around a long time and is high risk so should know what he is doing. But yes, it's scary when you are not being "checked" when you think you should be. ugh. Other than hold a gun to his head, we really had no way to get him to do a sono b/c he just felt ther was no need so all I can do is trust him. But it's hard!!!

I hope you don't mind my feedback, but I think its in the way you're asking. So you don't need to do a sono leaves the ball in his court. The last time we wanted an unscheduled sono my husband said listen, my wife is concerned. She has a long and complicated history and we would like her to be very closely monitored. We'd prefer you do a sono today(in your case-because of the fibroid) It doesn't mean you don't trust your Dr or are questioning him-you are just being a parent.

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
Hey Ladies!
Just wanted to know how everybody's feeling!
I am almost 17 weeks and I am still struggling with M/S. Much better than the 1st trimester, but still lingering.
I had a crappy 16 week appointment. The dr. couldn't find my ultrascreen results and seemed confused about EVERYTHING. I couldn't even get an August appointment with him! I have to see his partner b/c he will be on vacation.
I have my Level II on 8/8--SO EXCITED!
Has anyone been feeling the baby yet? I haven't! I can't wait to feel a kick or something!

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
Hi everyone!
I have definitely started to feel the baby! It's only after I drink something caffeinated (I only allow myself about 2 per week). Tonight, we went out for dinner, and I had a diet coke. Baby was kicking up a storm!
The only thing I can REALLY complain about is the sciatica--which I know you've heard from me before. It's AWFUL. It wakes me out of a sound sleep, and the only thing I can do to make it better is to walk. And then it's worse when I get back into bed. I keep praying, and trying to stay grounded, and try to keep reminding myself what all of this pain is really for!
Hope everyone is feeling good!

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
I felt a flutter this morning, it felt like a ripple, thats the only way that I can describe it. It was quick, but so cool. I go for my AFP test tomorrow, no sonogram, so it's not going to be a super exciting appointment for me. My sciatic nerve is killing me too!! I try to find something that will help it, but sometimes I cannot find a position that brings any relief. Oh well, it's all for a great cause... Hope you're all feeling good!!!!!!

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
Other than the heat kind of getting to me last week, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm enjoying the second trimester much more than the first.
I went to the lab last weekend for my AFP test. My next appointment isn't for a while - August 12th I think.
About 1.5-2 weeks ago, I occasionally felt what I thought might have been flutters, but I wasn't sure. Over the past week, I've been feeling a lot of flutters, mostly on my right side. seems pretty active, especially towards the evening. I'm almost always sitting or lying down when I feel them.
For those who are finding out the sex, when is your big ultrasound? You must be so excited.

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
I scheduled my level II for 8/6 and I am so excited to find out if it's a or a ! I went for my AFP test this morning and they couldn't get into my veins for the blood! I almost passed out from the pain of them prodding around with the needle. I am a big baby when it comes to getting blood drawn! They ended up having to go into my hand which is swollen now...ouch! The h/b was 140 this morning...I definitely felt flutters again last night before I went to bed, but only when I am laying down. It was so exciting! Hope you're all feeling well!!!!!!

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
Well i felt flutters yesterday as i was walking down the back stairs at a family BBQ...i got so thrown off i nearly fell down the concrete stairs…but i grabbed onto my FIL and caught my balance. What an incredible feeling…yeah it felt like a wave of water in my stomach. And again on my way into work driving this morning...so weird but so excited
My AFP is July 22 and i know he is doing a Sono so i pray that we can see if its a or a
Or then at the Level II two weeks later...

Re: Starting a December Mommy Thread!!!!
morning all! here is an update on me! i am 16 weeks, feeling great! although i've been pretty lazy around the house. i never want to do anything after work. but n the weekends i make up for it!
anyhow, i met with a midwife. she said she might be full. it all depends if this one patient decides to go with her or not. she said she has a lot of pregnant moms due in dec. - makes me a little nervous!
while i look for a midwife, i've been keeping up with my dr. apts. i have my AFP test on tuesday and an antomy scan 8/13. i cant wait!
leaving for jamaica 7/27 for our babymoon!
