Well I happen to be born in France so I know that kids do not drink wine. Unless maybe in the country side and it's an exception vs the rule.

They don't mix it with soda? I know that sounds gross, and maybe the French value their wine too much, but I know people from other parts of Europe serve it to teens like that, or at least used to.

NEVER heard of soda and wine! And yes that would be a sacrilege to the French.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

18 is just to young and most are still in High School. Can you imagine an 18 year old in school with a hang over or coming to school drunk.

I think they should raise the enlistment age, not lower the drinking age

Does anyone want to go to the local bar, pub, club with a bunch of 18 year olds?

Re: The legal drinking age in the US should be...

Here is the main reason why the legal age for drinking should be not a day short of 21: while female bodies are fully grown and developed by 18, males continue to grow and develop until the age of 21! That is a fact!

So, allowing 18, 19, 20 year old boys consume alcohol equals poisoning their STILL GROWING organs and interfering/slowing;/stopping their development. It is simple, really! The law must protect the children and physiologically a 20 year old, at least a male, is still a child!

what makes you think that doesn't happen now?

I knew plenty of people that would drink during the school day or after school

and I went to one of the "good" public schools on LI

Absolutely, I went to a very highly rated school as well as a mid-low rated school and there were plenty of 13-18 aged kids drinking, smoking & doing drugs before, during & after school.

I was hanging out in my local bar/pub by 16. Chat Icon

I think 18..because think about all the 18 year old that are already drinking..have fake ID's etc. I was getting into bars at 19. The funny thing was that at 21 it wasn't as much a thrill. Then again if we lower it to 18 will much younger kids be trying to get into bars..

I vote for 18. IMO, if you're old enough to serve your country, you're old enough to have a beer.

ITA!

i agree also, but at the same time i would increase the age of getting a drivers liscense.
