What is your ideal house style? What house styles do you avoid?

Me- i prefer Colonials - family/living space downstairs on the main level...and all bedrooms upstairs.

I avoid hi-ranch or capes- because I like all bedrooms to be on the same floor.

I always wanted a Victorian w/a porch and that's what I ended up with.

I never was into high-ranches or capes or ranches. I did, however, look at some and some were lovely -- but just not me.

I love Craftsman style and I also tend to like French Colonials. Also really like new Victorian 'type' houses. Original Victorians are much too tight and low for my taste.

I don't personally prefer Georgian or Dutch colonials. Georgians seem too stark to me and Dutch style reminds me of the Amityville Horror! I never wanted to live in a Cape, a Hi-Ranch or a Split.. but I would up living in a Cape! it's dormered so all the bedrooms are upstairs and it suits us just fine now that we are here!

We like either splanches or colonials, we ended up with a splanch...we avoided high ranches when looking

I love French colonials, victorians, tudors, splits and splanches. We have an expanded ranch.

I love Colonial and Victorian homes. The house we bought is a brick coloniral.

We werent a fan of ranches or tudors ( most are very small and dark).

We were searching for ranches and ended up buying a colonial.

I don't really like capes.

Colonial or craftsman. Love both. HATE capes. Just dont care for them.

I am not really a fan of hi-ranches.

I love Splits & Colonials.

I hate Capes but I have a feeling that's what we'll end up in.

I have a victorian. Iam guessing it is set up like a colonial, except it is more open (built in 2005). On the main floor we have an open kitchen open to the living room which opens to the dining room. There is also a half bath on this floor. On the upper floor there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We also have a full finished basement and attic. We did not want a hi-ranch. I didn't like the seperation between floors. I also wasn't fond of capes because the upstairs is so short and the seperate bedrooms. That just my opinion of course. I would pick a colonial, victorian or sprawling ranch.

I love Victorians, Colonials, Splanches and Splits. Can't stand Capes, Ranches, & Hi Ranches

I love colonials(which we own), victorians and tudors. I avoided capes, ranches and hi ranches.

I would love a hi-ranch (I grew up in one). I hate split levels. We live in a undormered extended levitt cape.

I loathe my hi-ranch. Can't wait to sell. I also don't like capes or ranches. I want a colonial or any other type that has bedrooms on second floor, and where the house has both a full, usable attic and a basement.

For my first house we were open to almost anything. We ended up with a split. At first I loved it, but as the kids came I hated it.

For our second home we only were interested in colonials and that is what we bought.

I like capes, but I dislike hi ranches. I love craftsman style homes the best

Love ranches, farm ranches. Hate splits, splanches and high ranches. Can go either way on colonials or capes.

I grew up in a colonial... and HATED ranches and splits. But our last house was a ranch, and the flow of the house was SO much better than a colonial. We just moved into a split, and I'm LOVING it.

THe curb appeal for ranches and splits isn't the same as a colonial, but I'm finding that the layout is so much more logical and convenient...especially with kids.

i like old tudors and victorian homes. i dislike splits, ranches, splanches, and hi-ranches. i'm open to anything in between. we live in a traditional cape.

I ended up in a cape, not my first choice, but there was a huge addition to it, so it worked for me.

THe next house will be a ranch or a splanch.

I grew up in an English Tudor, my Mom still lives there, it is gorgeous but it is traditional - with rooms and not an "open floor plan" that is popular - and it would lose it's charm if you started knocking down walls. Also, not so much closet space because it is an older home.
