I LOVE craftsman houses! Before we started house hunting and discovered how disappointing much of the local real estate is I had vowed to ONLY buy a craftsman. Apparently that's pretty hard to do on Long Island . We wound up with a Dutch Colonial and I'm quite happy with it. I was also open to colonials and capes if they had enough bedrooms.

I tend to only like houses with what I consider "traditional" layouts . . . Living room, kitchen, dining room, family room, etc first floor, bedrooms second floor. So I dislike ranches, splanches, split levels, etc.

Grew up in a colonial so that is the "norm" to me and I love it.

I also think splits are cool, like all the different levels.

Tudors are beautiful and I think craftsman style is SUCH a cool look.

There are things I like about each style, the only thing I really do not like is a cape.

I hate ranches -- won't even look at them when house hunting.

My ideal is a Craftsman bungalow.

I grew up in a colonial so I like those, with traditional layouts. My ideal is craftsman bungalow, hard to find. Not a fan of splits.
