I personally found that using the wipes for even pee has made a difference in my boys. they had a lot of diaper rashes/yeast infections. (no my kids didnt sit in wet/dirty diapers) ironic or not that is my expierence. i do understand as adult we wipe to "dry" ourselves. but i think its a lil different when your sitting in a diaper that has "chemicals" in it. this might not be a problem for everyone but in my case, yeah i need to use the wipes on my boys even for pee. its purely preventative.

I am not sure if you took my post in the wrong way. I am not saying that YOU personally should not wipe them, I was MERELY stating that I think it is ironic that I do not use wipes all the time and dd has gotten only a minimal number of rashes. Nothing meant by what I said, just an observation Chat Icon

Re: When changing diapers w/just pee....

Yes every time.....alot of it is because DD gets diaper rashes so I usually put cream on her too. I never thought not to wipe.

I would give my daughter the same dignity I would give myself. I wipe myself therefore I will wipe her. Diapers only absorb so much. I think it is silly to think that the absorbency of a diaper will keep our children as dry as the Sahara.

I use wipes. I will ALWAYS use wipes. If someone doesn't like it, tough nuggies!

ditto all the way!!!!!!Chat Icon

Re: When changing diapers w/just pee....

DD gets a rash if we don't wipe really carefully so yes, we do.

But I don't see why you would HAVE to.

My doc told me not to use wipes, so I don't for wet diapers.

Re: When changing diapers w/just pee....

I am just wondering how comfy I would feel if I wore a very thick Always SUPER absorbant pad (with wings of course), peed myself and just left it on for an hour or two just because I couldnt feel it. The thought alone just grosses me out. Again, this is why I afford the same courtesy to my daughter since she does not have the thought processes or motor skills to change/wipe herself on her own. I do it for her.

Just to summarize. you do not HAVE to use wipes at every diaper change. Pee is sterile, if my dd is dry (as she is 99% of the time because the diaper is doing it's job) I do not wipe her.

Like anything else, to each his own, my dd is a happy, healthy, diaper rash free baby Chat Icon Chat Icon

Actually that thought was not at all directed to anyone specific. I just post random thoughts with no intent to target, hurt or judge. I speak of myself and my situation alone.

ETA: It is 100% OK for me to think of myself or my daughter sitting in pee is just gross - sterile or not.

Re: When changing diapers w/just pee....

Whether or not pee is sterile (in which case, I will tell the doctors to scrub in with their own pee on my next surgery), there is a fact: It is warm.

After a warm front goes by, I like to cool off. What better way than with evaporational cooling? As the wipe dries, I like to fan his tushy and boys. He smiles as it evaporates and we get a good chuckle during the diaper change.

This is a tribute to all my friends who got laid off recently from The Weather Channel.

I am not sure I agree that it is courteous or not courteous to wipe your child with a wipe. I also wipe dd with wipes every changing but thats just me. I am sure that the mothers that dont use the wipes arent doing bc they dont care. Everyone does whats best for their child and what they are familiar with and think is right. I guess its trial and error along the way.

If the diaper seems dry then no. If it seems wet then yes. I change her often and sometimes can't tell if she even peed or not.

Now poops, I use about 10 every time Chat Icon

Pretty much the same for me...I always wipe her in the morning and if she seems very wet...but sometimes I don't have the wipes handy....

But on poopy diapers...I am NOT economical...I find it fascinating that there are Moms who can clean the messiest poopy diaper with one maybe two wipes!! Chat Icon

Again, I spoke for MYSELF and the choices I make for MY family. Of course we all do what we think is best. I think using wipes is best and courteous for MY child.
