Whose A** Do You Have to Kiss to Get the H1N1 Shot?

Good lord, I have called every source I can think of and have no luck locating this shot. Each member of my family falls into a high risk group in some way or another, but we cannot get the shot.

My DH has 3 doctors, none of them have it--two have no plans to get it, the other might in a month.

My pediatrician got a very small supply and it is reserved for children with underlying health conditions at this point, which makes sense.

My primary doctor did not order it and will not. My other doctors do not give flu shots.

Nassau Dept. of Health has none--they said maybe in a month.

The nearest CVS minute clinic is out, not sure when they are getting more.

I'm just frustrated--I keep hearing over and over, get your shot, get your shot, especially if you fall in a high risk group. But where do we get it?!? Has anyone had luck with this?

I guess we need to just keep washing our hands like crazy. I know we aren't alone with this, but it frustrates me that it seems so uncoordinated, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

In the same boat but only getting the shot for DH & I. Since DS is only 8 weeks old, we need to do all we can to protect ourselves. I called our primary & they said they have not received it in yet & Walgreens doesn't have it either. So here we are scratching our heads on how we are suppose to protect ourselves if no one has the shots!?!?!?!

in the same boat, my peds office is actually getting ****** at this point, bc they don't know when they're getting any shipments in and they want them, they don't order them the way they order other vaccines to it's frustrating on all sides...

It's in short supply here in Maryland, but anyone can get it. They are not allotting certain amounts to certain groups. My pediatrician has it in and was disappointed I didn't have my other DD with me to get it.

Even my OB can't get them. Each visit I ask and he says-Yes you should get it and I laugh and say, ok give it to me.

I have no idea what to do. My DD is 18 months and I am pg. I want it for both of us, but it seems impossible to find

It amazes me. The media, the President and the CDC are all creating pandamonium about the swine flu and how you should get a shot, yet they dont have enough for everyone

I dont plan on getting the vaccine or giving it to my kids but I feel sorry for those people who want the vaccine or are high risk and can't get it.

it is crazy... I work for the federal govt and was told they would have a limited supply but give them out on a first come first serve bases - we got an email this afternoon that it is now only offered to pregnant federal employees - I happen to be 9 months pregnant and decided against the shot anyway - but just goes to show you that there really is a low supply EVERYWHERE!

nassau does not have the H1N1 vaccine yet to the best of my knowledge (according to my OB 2 weeks ago)... he said its just a waiting game

My doctor has a limited supply of the regular flu shot ~ He ordered for his office and only received 20 (I was one of the fortunate ones to receive due to my medical condition) but they are on the waiting list for the H1N1... I will be going to my Ped's office soon & we will see what happens when we get there ~ it is soo frustrating to hear on the news to get the shot and there are not enough to go around...

my ped got some of her shipment in on friday, and held a clinic yesterday for all of her patients and families to get the shot. she did not get the preservative free shots though. DH got the regular vaccine and i got the nasal mist. there were a lot of patients waiting to get the shots.

My niece got hers on Saturday. My sister uses a ped in Huntington. I'm sorry I don't know which one, as we don't use the same ped, and I have no intention of giving it to my DD.

Our ped sent out an email Wednesday evening saying they only got a small amount of the injectible and the mist and they defined how they were determining who got them. They said they had staff working overtime to give the vaccines. My kids were able to get the first dose of the mist on Saturday, but they said they don't know yet if they'll be able to get the 2nd dose in a month from now.

From their email:

Injectable H1N1 vaccine will only be given to: Patients with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, immune problems. Patients with asthma who have been on steroids within the last year (flovent, pulmicort, orapred, advair, asmanex, symbicort, QVar.)

H1N1 mist will only be given to: Children between two years and five years of age. Children of any age who have a sibling under the age of six months in the home. Children of any age whose mom is pregnant. Parents of a baby under 6 months of age. (Please note- the H1N1 mist can not be given if a seasonal flumist, or an MMR or a Chickenpox vaccine has been given within the previous 21 days.)

Pregnant women and children under two are considered high-risk as well, but the state did not send us the appropriate vaccine for these groups. Pregnant women are advised to get it from their doctors if possible. NYS does not know when it will have vaccine for these groups, but we will send out an e-mail when we have more information.

I'm still waiting for my ped to call me for my 5 year old and 21 month old (I have an 8 week old at home). Would the ped give it to myself and my husband, too? My internist is not getting it and I don't know where to go to get it for myself. I'm very nervous for my little one.

I posted the other day that my ped got a shipment in of it on Monday afternoon and DD got it Tuesday morning...the office was pandemonium...and it's normally a very quiet office..they weren't making priority lists or anything just patients who wanted it were getting it...I'm not sure how much they got, but ppl were storming in to get it... I use an office in Hewlett...

My girls had the mist done yesterday. I called two weeks ago, they didn't have any. They said call next week. I called them on Monday and was given an appt on Friday. Just keep calliig your doctor's office and ask them if they have them.

My older DD got her first shot, she's a regular with the Pulmocort. Doc and I talked about risk:benefit and she's definitely in the priority group b/c of that and she's prone to febrile seizures.

What fustrates me is trying to get it for DH and I... I've been on Symbacort (sp?) and Prednisone. You'd think between that and having a newborn under 6m in the house (who DH and I think wheezes sometimes too so we're getting that checked), they'd be knocking on my door. I called Nassau County too and they told me keep trying the pharmacies. I'm like - everyone keeps telling me we are a priority group.... so how do I get on a priority LIST? NYS was no help and either was Nassau. There's 2 Walgreens in NJ that have it... I'm thinking of taking a drive! Seriously, it's so rediculous. Now there's a news report that even your house cat can get it from humans infected with H1N1. I swear this is some biological terrorism going on here.

I have the same problem! DH and I have asthma and can't get the nasal mist. Ped doesn't have the shot yet. They have been saying "any day now" for a month. DS is under 6months so I want to get it.

Then I find out on Friday that one of the teachers that I kind of team teach with each morning just went upstate to pick up her daughter from college because she has H1N1... UGH... I am losing my mind with worry!!!

DS has had a cough and stuff since he got a cold a month and half ago.. That's how DH and I always were. I am so conviced he is going to have asthma and therefore I am SOOOO paranoid about him getting swine flu or regular flu!!

my ped. told me yesterday that they got so many vaccines, that he is now offering it to parents of infants if they can't get it at their own doctor. myself and my husband just got it this weekend at our daughter's ped.'s office. (She is too young to get it).

i don't see how it is fair that some places don't have it all and other places have too much of it?

DD got the regular flu shot yesterday and her ped said that they had 100 doses in "a few days before" and it was gone within a day. Their policy is that you have to keep calling to see if it's in, which is so dumb to me, it ties up the receptionists/nurses with phone calls all day asking...why they can't start a list is beyond me...if you're on the list and you don't call them back within a day, they should skip you and move on to the next or something. Otherwise it's like you have to call every few days to check!!

For what it's worth, our ped said that he recommends the H1N1 over the regular flu shot this year since "that's the strain that's going around"...he still says to get both, but if for some reason you only want to give 1, he definitely says H1N1 is the one to get. Mind you, they didn't have it when I was there yesterday

same here. I'm pregnant , will be travelling overseas in a few weeks and have a one year old who can't get it either! my FDNY BIL got it tho

Children's Medical Group in Bayside has them... My son was going to get it through his school but he had a doctor's appt and they OFFERED it to me...
