Re: Why I am against the Healthcare Bill...
and to assume that I am similar to Wright - (i KNOW he doesn't think I am anti-semitic - or, i hope not) but - you can't assume someone's party affiliation or their ideals without asking them.
i could look at his LIF profile and see - ha! service member! MUST be a Republican! One of those tough alpha-male, gotta-right-to-bear-arms-come-on-my-property-and-i'll-shoot-ya! philosophy, but, I don't. I know not to assume.
I do know, however, that he might have a different idea than I do, but I also bet we have a lot of ideas in common.

Tommy, you make conseveratives look arrogant, ignorant, and inflammatory.
I have many friends and family who are conservatives and I know that there are many intelligent, open minded ones out there....
But I hope you realize what a chuckle it gives us Dem's to laugh at dingbats like you
yeah and he called me Reverend Wright! Who, despite being a lot of things, was notorious for anti-semitic sentiments.
That is EXACTLY why I made the post I made.
Anyone who would call you a racist is arrogant, ignorant, and inflammatory--exactly what I said--hey it's my opinion
I think the point of calling her Rev. Wright went WAY over your head!
No need to be mean to be bc you hate Obama. I am not Obama.
I do not like innocent, nice people being referred to as racists.
Nothing went over my head.
ETA: In the same vein that you are speaking up for Tommy and taking it up with me, why am I not allowed to speak up for Rileysmama?
DO you have a special pass?
yeah, I sleep with him
Oh ok!
I get it, thanks for clearing that up

Re: Why I am against the Healthcare Bill...
Im going to go out on a limb here and say that because Rev. Wright always uses "the white man" in his rants and you used "the white man" in yours, nothing about being a racist on your part, just the way you stated it.

Really i did that. Something tells me that anyone that doesn't share your point of view in your regards is Arrogant,Ignorant, and Inflammatory. But im glad i got under your skin.
And about the Reverend Wright comment...
im pretty sure that anyone other then a bleeding heart like yourself would have found what she said Arrogant,Ignorant, and Inflammatory.
But hey that's my opinion.

Re: Why I am against the Healthcare Bill...
Kristin,
I do not wish to argue with you.
As I said I have friends and family who are conservatives.
I do not judge people based on their politics, or assume they are all one way.
I just take offense to someone calling someone a racist out of no where.
Nothing went over my head. He took a low blow and tried to make a "pun" (her reference to the white man or whatever) into a "joke" but the message was loud, clear and below the belt.
Have a good night

Tommy is a lot of things (sorry TB) but he wasn't trying to call her a racist, it was her "the white man" statement that Rev. Wright always says that she said that was funny. Not a lot of people go around saying "The White Man" with exception to Rev. Wright and some others. I just confused myself

I'm very sorry if you thought that me calling you Reverend Wright meant that i was calling you a racist, it had absolutely nothing to do with that. However, I need to address this. You are all saying that Rev. Wright is a racist, there is no doubt in your minds about this, so how can you deny what I originally wrote about Obama having a shady past or associating with shady people? Basically you admit that Reverend Wright is a racist? yet you voted for a man that sat at his church and Baptized his children there. Thanks for making that clear.

I get it, and I always raise a lot of eyebrows myself - I am white (if that matters or not, I don't know - just putting it out there) but I always despised how there had to be "African American History" classes in college - which, sounds nice, but it also has a deeper meaning to me - like, "This was probably left out in early education, so if you'd like to learn more, sign up for this class."
I mean, all I ever learned growing up as far as black history was the guy who invented peanut butter. I'm not saying everyone had that experience, but it was surely mine.
History classes are filled with white people, let's face it. Even women are lacking in the courses - maybe it's meant to be His Story?
Now, I don't hate white people, so let's not think that, either.
It just wasn't until I was older and educated MYSELF with things I lacked that I saw things for what they were - usually a big misleading lie.
I mean, how many people have learned of the Tuskegee syphilis experiment?
Look, we are all a lot of things - not just Tommy. I, for one, am just glad we are discussing things like this, instead of Lost, because don't even get me started on that scary smoke monster!

To answer your question--yes from what I have read, seen, heard I do believe Rev W is in fact a racist.
I have no knowledge that the President was aware of this.
I go to church, I do not know everything about my Priest.
Sometimes people do not show unsavory sides of themselves to certain people.
I do not know or claim to have all the answers.
I do know that Obama does not seem *to me* to have this shady past you speak of...he seems pretty legit to me.

I see your point - however, not all people see things in black&white. People may attend a church that is very strict - anti-abortion, anti-gay, etc. A politician may attend that church because they get SOMETHING out of it, and then turn around and be pro-choice and equal rights for gays.
All that ACORN stuff - yes, all very shady. Surprising? Not to me..
even Bush, he is/was a Skulls & Bones member - it's no secret. That's shady, also. He also has had ties to bad people.
All politicians are businessmen, frontmen, etc. I think they are all shady.

Re: Why I am against the Healthcare Bill...
just thought I would put this out there..
Every President has had questionable dealings in some part of their lives.
If you don't think so, you are naive.
Deducing that Obama is shady because he has had associations with people that some might find questionable doesn't not define his character or anyone else's necessarily.
It was really a stretch to say that.

Yeah your probally right. 20 years at his pew and he had no idea that he hated jews and white people.
Well, people sit at Catholic churches and have no honest idea that there have been molestations. Certain boys being selected for altar positions, etc.
People see what they want (or don't want ) to see.
If anything, I think Obama is directly working with and for the banking system. He seems to have appointed a bunch of snakes who aren't his race.
Not saying molestation only occurs in Catholicism, either. It can happen in any religion, just using an example.
