Re: Will you be really upset or mad if YOUR candidate doesn't win?
Posted by Janice I guess I never thought about it, but I really don't know that many republicans. This site has got me feeling queesy lately. Its like access into the young republican's mind. Thought processes are so different. Mindsets really aren't that alike at all.
That's an interesting point. I don't really know many republicans, especially living overseas. Most Americans that I have met in this country are democrats or independent.
From what I understand in my experience of living in two countries overseas (Germany and Australia) and talking to those people is they don't quite understand what a true republican is. They associate republicans with George Bush, make what you will with that, I can't really fully describe what I mean. I hear so many criticisms and I have a few times been personally criticized b/c I am American.
Basically I am sick of being represented b/c of the way Bush is. I am tried of being stereotyped like that. There has always been stereotypes overseas, but they have gotten far worse over the 8 years in my experience. Honestly I think Bush has really tarnished the image of Republicans, and I think any democrat elected would really help out with our foreign "image". If McCain gets elected again, I really can't go through hearing the same crap with how backwards America is blah, blah.
Would I be upset, if my party didn't get elected? Yes, I would but not so much; I can't control it. For my own sanity (I can't listen to the above anymore), I would really like my party to win.

Mad, no. Worried, yes. I can't see 4 more years of the same doing any good.

Re: Will you be really upset or mad if YOUR candidate doesn't win?
i voted other....
honestly, i would be a bit disappointed, but not upset. i am not pleased with either option. i am not pleased with the corruption and hypocrisy that is now synonymous with politics. neither is consistent enough for their beliefs for my liking.
i do worry about the moral fbire of this nation though and that is why i for the first time voting for who i am. i think both will raise taxes, the war will continue, jobs will be lost, health care costs will continue to skyrocket, oil will still expensive, etc. etc. i don't think either of them will change any of those things. this time, i am voting for the moral future of this country because it is heading to he ll in a hand basket, IMO.

Re: Will you be really upset or mad if YOUR candidate doesn't win?
Well, I am voting McCain/Palin but that's strictly because I see them as the lesser of two evils. I am not a fan of either so I guess I won't be so upset if Obama wins. I just don't understand why so many people seem to think he is some sort of miracle worker. (NOT the people on here, people in general). He can preach "CHANGE" all he wants, it's going to take much more than empty promises to fix this mess of a country that we have right now. He is also just so far to the left he is practically a socialist, and I really don't want to live in a socialist country. However, McCain, not so hot either. I don't get his health care plan at all. Sarah Palin- I like her as a person, I would probably be friends with her if I knew her...but as VP?? hmmm not so sure. I guess what I am getting at is, no matter who wins, people are clinging to the hope that there will be some 100% drastic turn around in our country, and I just don't see that happening in one 4 yr. term. I just feel bad for my kids- what will the country be like when they are my age? And one more thing, I heard something on TV the other night, very interesting...everyone is talking about McCain dying (when, frankly, he is not that old, he's not 95!)...but did anyone ever think of Obama dying? You know that in this country there are very racist people, and if he wins, well I can sadly see JFK all over again.

I've thought about it. But I feel confident with Biden as his "back-up". He is intelligent, has plenty of experience, and is basically everything that I feel Palin is not.

I feel confident about Biden too. I like Obama, but I really felt like he and Bill Richardson were excellent possibilities as they both have a lot of experience. But the media focused so much on Obama and Clinton.

Agree. I have thought about Obama dying in office, I do think there will be an attempt on his life if he is elected, and let's face it, anyone can die at anytime, even someone young and seemingly healthy.
All that aside, I would be fine with Biden as a President. i could never, ever vote for McCain though given his VP choice. I would not be comfortable with her as president, and I think she would drive this country into the ground.

Re: Will you be really upset or mad if YOUR candidate doesn't win?
Hillary is my candidate. She didn't receive the nomination. I'm still somewhat angry, upset and disappointed.
I don't consider either current candidate "my" candidate, so no matter the outcome, I'll be just as disappointed as I've been for a while.

While I may be disappointed, I would not be mad or angry. I do not think either candidate is out to get our country or destroy it. So no matter who is in office in January I will stand behind them.

This is a very good point, though I too am comfortable with Biden as "backup".
But I have another fear that nags me all the time. This country is a mess right now. A MESS! I'm afraid that the "mess" cannot be cleaned up or "changed" in 4 short years, but that Obama will be expected to come to office with an extraordinary sized "mop". And if the mess doesn't get cleaned up fast enough for people's liking, people will be like "see, we gave him a chance, he couldn't do the job." If he gets into office, I hope he's up to the challenge of not only the extraordinary cleanup, but the extraordinary expectations.

nervous. It seems like in the past few years, our circle of peers have more degrees under their belt, working more hours...yet doing worse then a couple of years ago. I don't feel like we are moving in the right direction, I feel a the gap widening and it makes me nervous.
I guess I never thought about it, but I really don't know that many republicans. This site has got me feeling queesy lately. Its like access into the young republican's mind. Thought processes are so different. Mindsets really aren't that alike at all.
So without this site, I may have just been upset if my candidate did not win. Now, it will leave me feeling sort of sick.
Why will you feel sick?

Anyone who TRULY expects or believes ANY administration, Democratic or Republican, will be able to come into office and clean up this MESS in ONLY 4 years, is an idiot -
There is NO way the damage from the last 8 years can be undone that quickly - it's going to take a very long time .......

This is absolutely the truth, but it is the truth regardless of who wins. I think both candidates will wind up falling short of expectations because things are royally screwed up right now. IMO it will take an act of God to undo this mess in 4 short years.

I wont be as mad as I was after the last election
as long as everything is fair- which I have my concerns about- that it is what it is
if Hil was on the ticket- I might feel differently- but "my" cannidate already lost

Re: Will you be really upset or mad if YOUR candidate doesn't win?
I have given this some thought, especially when the race was a lot closer, and I think that even thought I would REALLY LOVE to see Obama in office, and would be sadden to see McCain in office, I would be able to deal with it even if my candidate did not win.
But ever since McMCain made his choice of VP and I heard what has come out of her mouth, I hope & pray that she does not make it to office, I think that she makes a mockery of the Office of VP. I truly believe she is not qualified and I would be so scared to know that if anything God forbid should happen to McCain (death, stroke etc..) she would be leading our country. God help us all!
