I would flip my shit, but I know I tend to overreact to things. I would be beyond pissed that he 1. made this decision basically without me, since you had said you kinda wanted to wait and 2. you weren't even there to comfort her, chose where to do it, pick the earrings, share the experience, etc.
I know my initial reaction would be to go off on him but once I had calmed down I would explain why I was not happy that he had done this. I would have a discussion about why he should not do things like this in the future. I'd try to come up with a similar scenario where he would be upset to be left out so he sees your point.

I wouldn't be mad, but hurt. His intentions i'm guessing were not to be mean or take anything away from you. I would just tell him that in the future you want to chance to be there when things happen like this or the 1st hair cut and so on. I also agree with the pp who said as a Mom we do a lot of this. Maybe it was important to her. You didn't say No when you guys talked so it's not like he went behind your back.

I would be VERY upset with him. I wanted to get DD's ears pierced for a while but wouldn't even consider it until DH gave me the OK. And even then, if he wanted to be there for it I would never have gone without him.
What's done is done, but I would absolutely let him know why you are so upset and make sure nothing like that ever happens again.

I would be livid. As a working mom, there's so many things you miss out of when your kids are growing so the things you can do you treasure for ever. And this is one of them. We do it together or we don't do it all.

Even though he was trying to do a nice thing & surprise you, I would be pissed & I would want MYSELF to make sure the holes were even & it was under sanitary conditions, etc. Not cool, dh

ITA!! When it comes to ear piercing babies, I really don't have a preference either way so I will probably just go with whatever DH thinks. Regardless I would be really upset if I wasn't there.

Thanks guys! I haven't replied to the pic yet. Well, except for an "OMG!!", which was followed with an 'I know, isn't she gorgeous', from him. So, I know he didn't do it with bad intentions.

I think he meant no harm and sounds like he was very excited to surprise you. Men just don't think like we do. They just don't get it.

I would be furious. My DH and I are with you on this subject. We decided its her body if she wants to have her ears pierced she can decide when she is old enough to ask and want it and then we would take her to get them done.
after you voiced your opinion and he turned around and did it anyway, id be pissed.

I wouldn't care unless I specifically said I was deadest against it. I don't like watching my kid in pain or getting needles so I wouldn't care about not seeing it. I would be more concerned with where he took her to do it and if it was done right.
