My dd is Gillian pronounced (Jillian). I personally dont care what others think actually. My dd was named after my deceased father and she will be proud of her name not resentful I am sure.

My Camryn is spelled with a y instead of the tradional Cameron.

I feel that the people most important know the correct spelling and that is all that matters.

I went with Jaidyn over Jaden. I felt that they way we spelled it is more feminine.

My name is always spelt wrong and pronounced wrong I never found anything with my name on it in 24 years, I'm still looking...

I wanted my kids to have names that are known, but not overly popular. I like that DS's name only has 1 spelling pretty much, even though everyone asks me to spell it. I think theyre just too lazy to sound it out. Theres never anything I've seen with his name on it either, but I agreed to this family name so I kinda knew what I was going to be in for My next kids' names will be more common...

DD name is autumn and it is spelled just like the season and I always correct close family members ALL the time and they still proceed to spell it the way they want

DD is Emerson. Pretty easy to say and spell, at least I thought. I still have family members spell/say Emmason. It bothers me and I correct them all the time!

My name is Dana. I get Daana, Deana A LOT. My whole life I've had to correct probably thousands of people in regards to my first and last name. Ugh my last name was torture

it's not for me. i chose timeless, traditional names that have one common spelling. i didn't want my kids to have to spell or pronounce their names to people for the rest of their lives.

plus as a teacher, i know how hard it is for kids who have "different" names.

I don't like it. DD's name is Madison. I've seen some alternate spellings and I'm not a fan. When names are concerned, I prefer traditional spellings.

i can't stand my name.. people still don't say it right.. its either Deena, Diana, etc. but never DEANNA.. and growing up and still i don't find my name pre personalized.. my siblings always did but not me.. it scarred me i think

so i had to name my boys more traditional names..

I don't personally care for it when it comes to switching a letter or 2 to make it unique. But some names are subject to many ways to spell it anyway. My DH's name can be spelled about 2-3 ways, all are fairly popular so it's a crapshoot if he doesn't spell it specifically. But to each their own. Maybe it's not as bad if the last name isn't a difficult one but if you have a hard last name - my maiden name was that kind - and it would s*ck to have to spell my first name and last name all the time.

my Eva is pronounced Ava . It will be a pain in the arse sometimes I'm sure, but I like the spelling better . My name is Valerie but somehow people still call me Vicky, Vanessa, Veronica, so I don't care if it is spelled normal or not people will make mistakes

It's funny, because when I was growing up, people ALWAYS misspelled my name (by adding an "h" when I didn't use one). It drove me up the wall, and I used to get mad at my parents for spelling my name "differently."

But we named our daughter Meghan, tossing the "h" in there to be different. Only after did I realize the irony. I guess if it bothers her, we can at least commiserate.

My name gets mis-spelled all the time, and I'm not quite sure where it comes from. My name is Kimberly...I keep getting Kimberely or Kimberley...this came out of nowhere in like the last 5 years. Up until then it was fine! Forget last names though, my maiden name ended in "mann" - never got the double n in there, not to mention additional vowels that people randomly threw into the middle of it. Now with my married name, most people take the 'Russian route' as I call it, and spell/pronounce it as the similar Russian last name. So I always have to spell even though my names are phonetical.

We are naming our son Jackson, traditional spelling. But if he was a girl we were going with Haleigh. However, we are a whole other topic of irritating

We are giving him 2 middle names...after absolutely falling in love with a name, DH realized that it was really important to have a certain middle name to honor someone who was important to him growing up, but died suddenly and young. Problem is I highly dislike the name, and so we compromised by going with both middle names, although we'll only use one of them primarily.

I don't like it personally. A few people in my family have odd spellings of their names.

It drives me crazy to see the word "spelt" also. I always thought it was "spelled", but upon doing a google search, apparently I'm wrong lol

DD's name is Aaliyah.

Could be spelled so many ways - Alia, Alea, Aliya, Aliyah, etc.

I choose the spelling closest to the Arabic way while still being somewhat American since she is growing up in this country.

I wanted to pay homage to my muslim roots since DH is dominican so she has a spanish last name.

Sure people will be confused, but I don't care. What matters to me is that she knows that her name is a tribute to where she comes from, esp. since on the surface she looks nothing like what her name suggests.

I like different spellings and I guess I spell Sydnie's name slightly different.

There are so many variations of spellings and pronunciations that I don't think she'll care.

I think the spelling of a name is relative as to what you think is the norm.

One of my friends son is named GavYn and until someone questioned her, she never even thought of spelling it with the I in it.

We have 3 girls- 2 with names spelled what one might consider "the norm" but the names are not common. and one common name- but not spelled "the norm"

I don't see a probelm with spelling. There are so many different and new names people are naming their children now that who can say what is norm and what isn't.

As a person with an ethic name, I find that only spanish people could say it correctly. It never dawned on me until I moved to queens from washington heights how difficult my name was. 6th grade was tough I eventually gave up and would start introducing myself with how everyone else said my name. Also NOBODY in my family calls me by my first name. I have a nick name that is not derived from my 1st name or middle name.

I actually get overly excited when I hear my name pronounced correctly. I NEVER give my name for a restaurant reservation for fear of my name being butchered, and that I probably wouldn't know they were calling me. My name was not said correctly at my High School Graduation and my friends said they didn't hear me get called but saw me walk across the stage.

I have definite issues personally with my name not being the norm BUT I really like my name. When I have kids they will not have traditional names.

My nephew's name is spelled Ayden. I absolutely despise it. I gave him a nickname instead. Though the tradition in my family is for an aunt or an uncle to give out nicknames

As a teacher you won't believe the names I've seen. The ones that make me go are the ones with the ' in the name. 20 years down the line from the professional standpoint is that the name might cause the kid trouble when trying to get in the corporate world. Because let's be honest. A Mikayla vs. M'Kay-La on a resume, one looks more professional.
