I'm so glad for the girls on here who had GD and said about icecream for the night time snack - I was consistently failing my fasting 5-10 points over, when I tried the 1/2 cup of icecream my numbers were under 95 and so far(knock on wood) the drs decided to hold off putting me on the glucose pill

Awesome! I tried ice cream as an afternoon snack today and my after dinner number, which has been mid-high 90's, was 85. My fasting numbers have been good with an almonds and cheese night time snack. I'm hesitant to change it since it's working.

I don't have GD but how / why does Ice cream lower your #?

Did anyone go on a hospital tour yet? I'm going tonight and I'm kind of nervous that I'll hear other women in labor screaming in pain and it will freak me out! Do they actually take you through the labor and delivery area or just tell you about it?

yes, we toured LIJ in New Hyde Park last week. They showed us the delivery and recovery rooms. I didn't hear any1 giving birth, just saw a couple walking the hallways with their newborn.

They take you into a L&D room. I didn't hear any screaming even though they were crowded that day. What did bother me was a chair in the room with something all over it (Not blood, it looked clear and slimy). I don't think they were done cleaning.

The night time snack - at least 2 hours after dinner, is suppose to be 15 g carbs. The girls on here had said how Breyers worked best(its got 14 carbs for the vanilla or strawberry - 1/2 cup only)..
I also tried the weight watchers snickers style icecream bar and that worked too...something about balance of fat and carbs?

somehow the cheese and crackers had me over 95 yet the icrecream didnt.

LOL that's really funny. Chat Icon

I never screamed in pain. I just said "help me. please help me. I can't do this" over and over again at the very end while I was pushing. Chat Icon It's kinda amusing when I think back.

They took us to an empty L&D room when I was there and to an unoccupied PP room. I never saw or heard anyone else the entire time I was at the hospital when DD was born, either.

Do you ladies feel your babies all day long?

I have serious anxiety every few days because my Chat Icon doesn't move as much as I think she should.

Since like 10 am, I've only felt MILD movement, like 3x. Even after a big meal (even though I've noticed with her, that doesn't seem to get her going). I ended up in L&D at 25 weeks because of the same thing, and everything was perfectly fine.

My last sono was Thursday last week and everything was perfect, and I even had a dr appt yesterday.

I just can't stand the anxiety it causes me ... and the not knowing if it's really something or nothing at all. Chat Icon

I'm 32 weeks and I think my baby moves a lot more often than she used to. She takes a while to wake up in the morning, but then I feel her moving pretty often throughout the day. In the evening is when she's most active.

I have had the same anxiety.

I think most of it is b/c I'm distracted when at work and don't always notice her movement. I was told when I move around alot, it "rocks" her to sleep, but when I'm still she wakes up.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that has this anxiety! I drive myself crazy until the baby moves again. I have the same thing as you where even after big meals there's not much movement. My dr said if I get nervous I can eat something sugary or high in protein, lay on my left side and count the kicks, or any movement really. There should be 10 in an hour.

DS is Frank Breech or was at my last sono and I really don't feel him much at all. Nothing like I did with my daughter. OB and midwife said it's not a big deal at all and his hb is constantly strong. But I really feel him just a few times a day, here and there.

The tour went well, and I didn't hear anyone screaming! Chat Icon It was actually pretty quiet and peaceful on the labor and delivery ward especially considering 5 of the 6 L&D rooms were being used. The whole tour lasted about 45 minutes. 25 min or so were spent in a lecture rm where the tour guide gave us lots of info we'll need I know for when I'm in labor and afterwards in recovery. Then we walked around the maternity ward for 20 min and saw and L&D room ( the only one that was empty!) and a recovery room. We also got to peek inside the nursery and see the newborns! There was a new father in there getting his baby to being back to his wife's room and DH and I can't believ that in less than two months that will be my DH bringing our baby to me! Overall I'm glad I went. It was worth it to me bc we got to know where the hospital is since we've never been there before and it puts my mind at ease a little because the tour guide kept saying how the nurses will work hard to honor whatever my wishes are as far as labor and delivery go. They also seem to have a fair visitors policy. My tour was at St Charles, btw.

So glad to hear the tour went well and that you found it helpful. I think DH & I are going to do ours on Saturday. I feel the same as you - I think it will put our minds at ease just a little bit if we see where we'll be going beforehand.

Inshock --- just get a nice cold glass of water from the cooler.

my baby kicks all the time, which I love cause I had 2 losses before my son, I'd rather get the crap kicked out of me.... but she wasn't moving so much the other morning so I just downed the water.
