You don't feel tearing while it happens. There's something called the "ring of fire" which is a burning sensation you get in the opening right when the baby is crowning and about to come out and think of it this way: if you stretch your mouth out really far and pull at your lips skin there, it gets taught and starts to get numb from the tension so you don't really feel it. It's the same thing with the other lips down below. So if you get cut or if you tear, you don't actually feel it because your skin is stretched in a way that it's numb.
My OB had to cut me and I ended up tearing (we tried so hard to avoid the cut, too, which I think might be why I tore because we waited a little too long to choose to cut) but I didn't feel either. I did feel him stitch me back up, but he used local anesthetic which did help with the re-stitching pain and that was it. While he was stitching me back up, I was watching them clean off my daughter and weigh her and my husband hold her for the first time and then I was holding her for the first time. So as annoying as it all was, it's so meaningless when you look back.
Thank you!

Yes, this :) I had the same experience with DS. I had him with no meds and I still didnt feel the tear.
We are 20 days away (!) since DD is still breech and it looks like she is going to stay that way it will be c/s #2 for me. I dont remember a lot of the whole experience the first time, which is probably a blessing :)
I have been told to take it easy and rest, as I was in the hospital with high blood pressure on Tuesday. Thankfully all is well now, and I am wondering how the doc expects me to relax when I have 2 other kids lol.

Anyone getting movement lower then normal? I feel like to need to stand sometimes to give him extra room. The movement down low feels different then usual and sometimes a bit uncomfortable.

Yes, I am feeling a little less movement, and a lot of the movement I do feel is uncomfortable. I also feel like I need to stand a lot, I feel like we are both too squished when I sit.

Aww - but your LO is amost here! You'll do great! You can do it!
No progress here. Had internal today. Doc said cervix is softening...but not much else.
He DID say that one of his patients went into labor last night. She also wasn't progressing, it was her first child, and was due Oct 8 (10 days before me! ). My OB said he wanted it to feel "more real" for me
Yikes!

Does anyone here see the SB midwives? Do they do internal exams at all? I have GD so they've talked about inducing me 1 week early, which would be the end of next week but so far they haven't done any internal exams, just wondering if they do at all?

They're inducing you WITHOUT doing an internal...? Is the baby measuring really large in your sonograms? When was your last sono?

Still keeping up with everyones updates - i cant believe how close it is getting for some of you! for those that posted about pain "down there" - i definitely feel sore between my legs. Like i got beat up! Lol sandra, i feel your pain with the appointment times... yesterday i worked 10-630, commuted an hour and a half home to pick up dh for our 8:10pm appointment and it was close to 10pm when we got out of there. Joyous lol. I hope you feel better soon btw! I havent packed my hospital bag and our car seats arent installed yet... and we are still on a hunt for a pediatrician we are satisfied with. Im hoping all of that is accomplished by the end of next week. im 36 weeks today... had my final sono last night, she flipped on her own since 32wks so she's not breech anymore - fingers crossed she stays that way - but that was great news to hear! She's measuring about 6lbs 45th percentile. we went to lamaze class and did the hospital tour on sunday - im glad we did it. Im not nervous at all about delivering, is that weird? I was more anxious that she'd still be breech and I'd def need a c-section. my last day of work was yesterday as well - yay! I'd about had it with the 10 hour days plus 3+ hours of commuting a day. My back is fried.

Well if they're inducing her based on her GD, why does an internal matter? Of course they'll do one at the hospital to see how far along she is, but it's not the basis for the induction, so it's really not all that mind-boggling.

Sorry if my capital letters in 'WITHOUT' implied that it was mind boggling.........just trying to understand what the reasoning for inducing was.
I don't think that having GD automatically constitutes being induced. I have GD and my doctor isn't planning on inducing me unless the baby is measuring very large and I am past my due date. This is being monitored through sonos.
I'm not a doctor (obviously!), but I would think they'd want to see how she's progressing - through an internal - before deciding to do an induction, no?
I'm trying to wrap my brain around all of this as a first time mom.

We had women in my L&D class last pregnancy who had to be induced before 38 weeks because of GD. They never had internals. I think every office is different.
Mine only does internals because I ask. I'm going today and definitely asking again. I need to know if ANYTHING is happening down there!
I keep seeing posts for things going on mid to late October on fb or in ads and I can't help but think "oh wow... the baby will be here by then!" or "I hope the baby is here by then!" I'm so ready to not be pregnant anymore.

18 days over here and it still hasn't sunk in yet that Baby will be here any day now.
At least i'm mostly prepared for Baby - though I still gotta install the car seat and choose a pediatrician, and a mohel but otherwise, i'm done with the major things for now.

I think the same thing! I can't believe I have perishable items in my fridge like eggs and yogurt that will expire after my due date!

Yes. I dont know the exact schedule - years ago they used to book til 9pm 4 nights a week. Now i think its maybe 2 nights a week but im not sure of what nights or what providers. I think in the summer, san roman doesnt do any, but now he might be on mondays bc thats who i saw last night and i heard someone rescheduling for a 710pm on a monday in late october. Not sure about michele.

Saw the Dr. yesterday and she said I'm not dilated but that he's moving into my pelvis which is the first step. Definitely feels like he's lower since yesterday. My coworkers all think I'll have the baby this weekend especially since there's a full moon Saturday We're getting close! Time has really flown by.

Had a great appointment today! Made up for some of the bad / long ones recently.
Happy to report I'm 1 cm and 40% now (at 37+3). Baby's still one station up but he's settling in the pelvis just right.
I'm planning on a 2 mile walk in the park on Thursday (midwife said to bring a TON of water and just to take it easy since she expects I'll contract most of the time -- especially pushing the stroller with DD in it) and more yoga ball tonight. I have 6 days to have this baby before my mom goes out of town for 10 days... so we'll see what happens! We do have plans to go pumpkin picking this weekend. I don't think DH really wants to go so the baby will probably come before then lol.

I went for a 2 mile walk yesterday because it was so nice out. I think that's why she really started to go into the pelvis. It's great you are making progress!!

How are you girls doing 2 mile walks?! I take a long walk with my dogs and it's no where near 2 miles and I am in so much pain by the time I get home. I told the doctor how hard it is to walk too much and he said the's not surprised because the baby's head is right at the cervix and I'm pretty much "walking with a bowling ball between my legs". I'm really jealous of you girls that can do a 2 mile walk! Sandra - I'm glad you're appt went well and that you've made some progress

ps - I had a doctor's appt this morning, I'm 50% effaced but no dilation. The doctor expects I'll go into labor right around my EDD (10/7) and if not we'll discuss induction which I really, really don't want.
