Why is everyone still debating with this poster? This thread is ridiculous and pathetic and reeks of insecurity. I have friends of older kids that are very involved in their lives and you know what - their kids are amazing and accomplished because of it. My guess is the op feels down about herself and her family and is trying to make herself feel Better and justified in this thread. It's actually sad how she keeps feeling the need to refer back to the few posters that agree with her. Actually every thread she posts is just As ignorant and self serving. Just like the last one where she had to prove that everyone was carrying significant debt or lying bout it. Sorry - op, it's just u. I wouldn't even engage it anymore.
Stop feeding the troll ladies!!

I take offense to that. I am not a troll. People shouldn't respond to posts that don't even apply to them. Sorry. Unless you are doing it or BTDT you don't really know. That is why I don't respond to posts that I am not familiar with either.

Just freakin stop already. My God!!!!!............you have gotten MANY responses from MANY SAHM's, myself included, but the fact of the matter is you don't like the answers you're getting so you just keep carrying on, calling people out, and beating a dead horse. Let it go.

It did get nasty because people came in who are not affected by my question. Then they have continued. Stop posting and the thread will die.

I am a FTWM who is currently on maternity leave and let me tell you staying home is HARD. I give a lot of credit to those SAHMs! Working is tough don't get me wrong...but FOR ME, staying home is harder.
I remember the 8 weeks I was home were horrific.. I cried daily. I felt like a bottle making, bottle washing, diaper changing, machine. I missed work, I missed my friends, I missed adult interaction and getting up and having to get dressed and pretty.
I could very easily have slipped into a depression if I had stayed home much longer.
. Did you have any family around to help you out or was it just you ?

I had help during the day. But DH worked midnights so I was alone with a colic baby who slept no more than an hour at a clip all night. And regardless, being home with a colic, screaming baby in a formula stained t shirt all day when I was used to going to work everyday was enough to put me over the edge. Help or not.

OP you sound like a very jealous person on numerous threads. I would find a way to dig deep down into your thoughts and re evaluate your life and find what makes you happy and focus on that. Envy & Jealousy will bring you down. Good Luck.

I agree. Stop questioning what people do and question why you keep having these same types of questions.

Re: SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
DH leaves for work at around 1:30 so we hang out, go out to lunch, watch tv, run errands, (not necessarily in that order) and then after he leaves, I usually goof off on FB and then leave to get DS.

SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
I do not mean to stir anything up or offend anyone but I can see how SAHM with kids in school have more free time than those with younger kids or those that work full time (all else being equal in their lives). I work PT and the days that my older DD is in preschool (and that's only for 3 hours) I get so much more done than the days that she is home, I can imagine that when both my kids are in school full time, I will have a considerable amount of free time during school hours on my days off. Of course that free from kid time will be spent cleaning, cooking, paying bills, etc.. but I do all of that now too =). Sure, if people chose to volunteer their time as their kids get older etc etc, they will have less 'Free time", but I think the OP point is that when kids are younger and you are a SAHM your job is to take care of them, once they are in school full time, that part of your job is over for the hours they are in school- so you have a bunch of kid free hours that used to be filled watching your kids and now can be spent in other ways- depending on the SAHM she will fill that time in different ways, some may spend it volunteering, some on a hobby, some relaxing , some doing all of the above-- but by definition it is time that before the kids went to school full time, was not "free"

It doesn't help that during this time your hormones are a freaking mess. I was sobbing a lot, laughing a few minutes later. I was like a basket case.

Yep. It was like PMS on steroids. I remember sitting crying on the couch. Just sobbing. And Dh asked what was wrong and I was like, I just can't handle it. He said, handle what? I said it. I can't handle it. I can't handle anything. Yeah, hot mess!

Kind of off topic slightly, but I really hate when SAHM's with kids in school all day post meme's on Facebook that say "Thank God its Friday".
I always want to respond, "really, because I'm pretty sure that your Friday is just like your Monday through Thursday"...
Maybe I am wrong in thinking this?
Meh, taking care of your kids full-time is a job just like any other job (i.e. demands, stress, schedules, etc.). We all look forward to weekends, where those demands, stresses and schedules are different.
Agreed. No wake up and get kids ready for school, no making lunch and snacks, no hellish pick up at school, no homework, if there are sports no rushing to get to them after hw and dinner. Fridays are good for everyone!

This is me right now. I'm losing my sh!t. I have no help and a baby who has a milk allergy, reflux and now a cold. And it's winter and everyone I know is in the city.
I could never stay home long term. I don't know how SAHMs do it. I really, truly don't. You ladies have my utmost respect.

SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
I have 3 kids. 1 in kindergarten, 1 in pre-k 2 days a week for 3 hours and a toddler. I am President of the school PTL, sit on the Board of Education for our school, am President of the Marketing Committee at Church and an Church Secretary. I also volunteer in the school. WHen all 3 kids are in full time I plan to keep doing these things and volunteer at the womens and childrens shelter in the area. I am busy. I maintain my home and do all the household things. My husband literally has to go to work that's it. We llike it this way and there is never a question of what do I do all day? He would love it if I backed off and had more lazy days. I would imagine once my kids are older we will have more activities as well. Soccer, ballet, baseball, tumbling. My oldest does this now and my middle is starting this spring. Add 3 kids doing all of this and I can promise you it would be hell if I wasn't a SAHM. I think the thing to remember is both parents have to agree on the situation. My husband is very supportive. We are all busy in our own ways. You don't know what another person is doing or going through. It's easy to say that when kids are in school all day a SAHM must have loads of time. It's true we do have loads of time, but how we fill it is different for us all. It doesn't make one mom lazy or another a superstar. We all have different lives. I worked for 15 years before I became a SAHM. I have no desire to go back. I love being home. Yes some days are hard, but it's what is best for my family. I won't be going back when my kids are all in school for the above reasons. I don't give a fluke if another SAHM sits and eats candy all day while her kids are at school. It doesn't impact me or my value to my family.
