Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
I went to Vegas back in May and out of the 4 of us, I got picked to go through the scanner. I didn't mind it. And the other 3 were jealous they didn't get to go

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
Well, I personally don't care. Ya want to see my streched out vajayjay in my old Gap underwear, you just be my guest! See if you find any bombs in there... Anything to help the country!
I do wonder though, if they are going to be pulling all the better looking women out of the line to go through the scanner, 'cause the view is better on them??

For anyone who is not in favor of scanning, what are your proposals?
Hand search all bags.
If they are going to limit things like liquids, limit them. The 3oz rule is incredibly arbitrary.
Install those puff machines in all the terminals that detects explosive material instead of these high tech body scanners. I think that should be more of a concern then what a person can hide in some orifice of their body. Of course in addition to the metal detectors not instead of them which was my experience.
Use dogs that are trained to detect explosive materials.
I went thru with 4 oz two weeks ago...and didn't even get stopped...

Why not follow the Israeli model?
I think this could be effective, provided we have the training/personnel/funding to perform the job.
It REQUIRES training - and funding. Which would probably never happen here.

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
I'm all for security but I'm against this. Basically they are saying that your choices are to get nude for a strange man/woman, OR get sexually assaulted by a strange man/woman. I don't necessarily think it helps make anything more secure because they aren't scanning everyone so there are still loopholes. I understand that it is a deterrent but if someone wants to beat the system they will find a way, they always do. I am tired of all of my rights being taken away one by one by one...

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
Right after 9/11 I flew from DC to NY. I was selected for a pat down - which was the same type they are performing now - the enhanced pat down. The TSA agent put their hands in my pants where I could feel their hand on my skin and um hair. I felt EXTREMELY violated. I really don't want my children subject to such a pat down.
I also don't know what level radiation is emitted from the scanners. Unless they can really say the machine gives off safe levels I really don't want to use them. I just don't know what the right answer is. I want to fly safely. I really understand the government's need to inspect people but I am not comfortable with what they are doing. I don't know what the correct answer is.

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
I'm just thankful I have no plans of flying in the foreseeable future.
At this rate... I'd rather road trip.
I'm not yet decided on how exactly I feel about this procedure. I get the safety aspect, and I'm usually one for safety and all that... but this to me seems to take it step too far. I'm not at all comfortable with the scanned images I have seen. I've seen some of guys and you can see their full on peen. It's disturbing. And anyone can see these images... you have no idea who is looking at them.
And your alternative is to be molested.
And can pregnant women go through the scanner?
What is the radiation level of the scanner?
I also don't trust the government to tell the truth about the details.
I agree with whomever said that more prevs will be applying for jobs with the TSA. And I do believe this will deter some flyers from flying..... myself being one of them. I don't plan on flying unless I would ABSOLUTELY HAVE to....

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
I've gone through pat downs where I've had to roll the top of my pants over, but nothing like what people are going through now. I've also had full luggage searches, where all my dirty underwear and clothes were taken out of the bag. It's freaking annoying, but it is what it is. BUT if I had a child, a teenager, or even my 21 year old sister with me and they had to do the scanner or the full body pat down, you'd probably hear about me getting arrested for punching a TSA employee.

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
I do not like it. I feel like it's a violation. I feel like our government could've come up with something that wasn't so invasive and put all the money they spent on these scanners into funding for training that other posters have mentioned.
I'm happy that I don't have any plans to travel anywhere by plane in the near future.

First the lied and said pictures couldn't be saved and shared, now we know that is false
Then they said radiation levels are low, now we know they understared levels.
I travel 20+ times a year, I have zero faith in the government to be honest about these machines.
Israel has been dealing with terrorist a lot longer than we have and they do fine without body scanners and pat downs. Maybe its because they actually hire college grads who are trained by the military and fired on the spot if they miss something versus what the TSA hires.

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
I don't like it for many reasons that have already been posted.
Anyone see this story? I'd say more training needs to be done. Maybe it should've been done BEFORE they started this. Bladder cancer survivor
I'm wondering how many lawsuits are going to be filed before they realize this isn't going to work.
As for the scanners. Can they see inside the body. This may sound but what if I'm wearing a tampon. Can that be seen? If not that things can still be put into the body without being recognized. If they can see it I hope they don't ask to prove it's a tampon and not something else

How horrible for that man to have to go through that type of humiliation. Some common sense and human decency could have avoided that situation. Where do they teach you that?

They claim the gloves are tested for explosive residue - so yes, they are changed for each search.

Re: Airport Full Body Scanners... What do you think?
My feeling is if you don't like the scan or the pat down then don't fly. Flying on an airline is not a right it is a privilege therefore there are no constitutional rights being violated.
I will continue using my privilege and will continue flying.

in a struggling industry...is that the answer though? won't that result in more layoffs?
there has to be a different way to secure flights then this

might hurt the airline industry but would stimulate other areas if more people are driving then flying. and truthfully people will not boycott flying for very long beacuse they will not want to spend 2 days in a car driving to Florida.
My view is really about all the people screaming their civil liberties are beign violated. It is not a violation of search and siezure because flying on a plane is not a right.....Constutional Law 101. The exact reason that you can be searched on the subway or train. Its a privlegde to ride the subway.

I would never let some random joe at the airport pat down my children.
I would go through scanner...so would they. I don't think I would allow a pat down though. AGREED..
and there was something on the news about them making a woman take our her fake boob things..but she was a cancer survivor and had her breasts removed..so those basically were her breasts..
the broke some poor man's urine bag..
its sh** like this that goes too far. A lot of those agents are nasty and rude and think they are the shi* b/c of their job. Im really on the fence about this b/c at what point does it become too much and cross a line?
and we all know at somepoint there will be some moron who works on the inside releasing footage of bodies on the internet.

This was so sad If they don't offer the proper training, too many of these situations will happen.
