Re: Bloomberg to charge tax on plastic bags at supermarket

I was happy to hear this. DH and I have been bringing our canvas bags to the supermarket for years now. I am not kidding everyone stares at us! Maybe where I live no one uses them??? But I hope now they will be forced to use them to avoid spending the extra $.

Chat Icon that's why I say I'd have to learn and honestly it will take time and be hard on me for awhile if i was forced to.

Because I can't stand to throw anything in the garbage, I've collected easily 30-40 paper/plastic shopping bags with handles in my pantry over the years. These are what I use for food shopping, when going to family with food or presents in tow, when taking my dog to work for all his stuff...

Also, I keep extra bags under my driver's seat or in the pockets on the back of the chairs. So even if I do forget, I know they are there. As soon as I unpack them, I shove them back in my pocketbook so I won't forget the next time I go to the car.

I also have two large beach bags that are perfect for the heavier items like milk.

YOU CAN DO IT! Chat Icon

We use canvas bags all the time and they hold A LOT more than the plastic.

I think taxing the plastic bags is a GREAT idea. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
