you know what....call me a terrible American if you want, but I work very hard and I pay all the taxes I owe....and in addition to that, I do not want to further "spread my wealth" around!
ITA - the only other thing that could make my night is if McCain calls him out on that small little ACORN scandle.

it's not DH's company. but he helped make it a huge success (he came in when it was making under $2M a yr).
if his boss gets taxed more, someone loses their job. probably not DH, but someone would.
and a small business is defined by # is employees, gross sales and profit margins.
Ok, can you feel a little bad for my dad's company? He is not making anywhere close to 10 million, yet he will be grouped into the same lump. Can you feel bad for my dad, who has plenty on health problems, yet isn't yet eligible for medicare and has to support my mom who is disabled? Or can you feel bad for my DH who works for my dad who will be unemployed? Can you feel bad for the 4 or us who will all lose our roofs-over-our-heads?
Not attacking. I understand that people has no sympathy for million-dollar-businesses. Not all of them are million dollars. After all, how about the poor guy who will lose his job if Sweatest of Peas DH's company gets taxed more? It's not the business in that case that gets punished, it's the middle class employee who is barely making it that is suffering

BINGO!
It is not tax evasion at all, Sarah Palins husband did not show a large profit, this is what people with small business do.
Here is a copy the article
For the 2007 tax year, Todd Palin's self-employment brought him $66,893 in gross receipts -- $49,893 from fishing and $17,000 from snowmachine racing. But, the returns show, he claimed so many deductions that he reported only $15,513 net profit from the fishing operation and claimed a $9,639 loss from his racing, leaving him with an overall net income of only $5,874.
The self-employment deductions left the Palins, who have four dependent children, with a 15 percent tax rate for 2007 and a rate of less than 10 percent for 2006. Todd Palin also deducted for the business use of their home in Wasilla. A fifth child was born to the couple this year.
Todd Palin offset his $17,000 gross receipts for snowmachine racing by claiming $10,858 in depreciation, $2,425 for car and truck expenses and $1,559 for supplies. An additional $11,405 was claimed for "other," which included fuel, entry fees, equipment parts, repairs and maintenance, cell phone, memberships, "sponsorship apprec" and "gear."

ITA - my DH works in finance and we are not making the millions and he and his friends are all sweating that Obama is going to get elected b/c his tax policies on companies are going to cut jobs - there was that great wall street journal article.

Re: Debate '08
I don't understand why Obama supporters get so upset when people want to question Obama about ACORN, Ayers, Wright, etc. Obama is explaining it all away anyway, so great, fine, but why do people not have a right to question his character and judgment? It seems to be OK when they criticize McCain's judgment, right?

I'm KIND OF an Obama supporter, not overly enthused, but I guess a supporter and I think everyone should question it all. I'm not upset at all about it
