That is just a disgusting thing to do - WHAT kind of person even CONSIDERS doing something like that ....much less acting on it ??? -
I know his car is one of a kind, so to speak (which obviously makes it worse), but even if it were a 40 year old, falling apart piece of junk - WHO DOES THAT w/ someone else's car ???
Particularly someone who has been a 'good guy' to them ??
And, even if they were stupid enough to do it ........have they SEEN your DH ??? Did they consider the idea that he would NOT be calm and mature about the situation ?? -

Oh my GOD!! My DH would be in JAIL because he would have killed them!! I don't even think I could tell him about this because he would cry, seriously, he is a Mustang freak.
Anyway, I work for a law firm, there is property damage and you left the car with them, they have no right to take it out for a drive. I am glad you called the police, make complaints, write letter, etc, etc.

I just called her- she is going thru the tapes
I asked for a copy by the end of the day for my lawyer- she said I can have a copy- but she doesn't know when
so I am calling the police to go get them now
I am so upset- I don't want to live here anymore-

Awww-I'm sorry you feel like this! At least the cops are being helpful! Maybe once you get the tapes actually in your possession it'll help.

they day police aren't as helpful as the night police- they said it's a civil matter right now
I need to get those tapes to see them myself- I don't trust her
there is no way jake did this to his own car- he treats it like a baby
I guess we just have to sue them- unless there is something on the tapes showing the car being taken- but what if they stopped the tape- blocked the camera etc
I just want to cry- I know it's just a car- and it will be fixed- but it's going to cost us a ton of money
we can't sell our other car now- b/c Jake needs something to drive

this car was in the chicago auto show-
atleast the cops knew what I was talking about
That sucks REGARDLESS of the type of car.....if it was a POS hyundai or a saleen mustang, IMO, that makes no difference....they should not be touching ANYONES car

Can you call your insurance company and see if they will cover part of it?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! I just read this whole thread Beth and this is just insane.. you guys prob feel sooo violated
I would also try calling maybe one of the news teams, like help me howard, or cbs, etc.. but you seem to be taking all the right steps.
Just make sure ur attorney is ON this case ASAP... I hope the tapes show something

so I called the building manager- she has nothing to do with the gargage- but I felt she should know the situation
first it was nothing has ever happened like this
then as the conversation went on- minor things have happened and the person responsible was fired and arrested
so which is it???
I just want the tapes
Jake said on the part of the tape he saw his car is in all different spots

If Jake's car is in a "floating" spot, wouldn't they be able to argue that they had to move his car legitimately?
Was Jake able to see the cars exiting and entering the garage? Was it a constant stream of video, or was it just in bits and pieces.
I didn't even think that the guys at the garage would be able to disable the camera or block the view if they took the car for a joyride, but I guess if anyone knew how to do it, it would be the garage attendants.
