And Beth, I am just giving you a heads up...You may get some co-op board people/neighbors saying, "If it is worth so much, and so prestigious, why was it not garaged?". Just warning you now.
Hope everything works out for you and Jake.
it was gargaged- the garage guys did this
we moved to this building for an indoor spot
I dont mean a community garage, I mean an off premise garage where nobody has access to it.
never heard of that- he needs to drive it- it's his main soucre of transportation
except when it snows- he drives his pathfinder
i can see if it goes to trial, the defense lawyer saying that. but it doesnt hold any water imo - thats like blaming the victim.

Re: I am so furious right now!
Have you gotten much help from the police today? It's later in the afternoon now, so maybe the officer you spoke to yesterday is in and he can get the tapes for you.
After Jake's car is fixed, are you going to park it back in the garage? Would you trust the same garage if they catch who did it and that person gets fired? Maybe there was just one bad apple....

NICE!
Also not trying to stress you out - just have law firm experience & wanted to offer unsolicited advice.
A call to your insurance co. is warranted if you haven't done it already. I also worked in the legal department for a collection agency. Our largest clients were insurance companies subrogating against garages/valets that damaged cars.
They cover your car repair & then they have to recover their own money from the garage - you shouldn't have to do it.
Good luck!

I agree!!! Call you insurance company! This is what you pay them for! And I am sure you pray a pretty penny for insurance for that car! They can take care of the garage - I am sure they have much more experience at this than you do because i am sure it happens all the time!!! No need to get yourself all stressed if you can have someone else handle it for you.....
Good luck!

Re: I am so furious right now!
Its amazing how one officer said to handle it yourself and another will get them for you. Well, I hope he is able to get them. And I hope your lawyer takes over and does all the talking, he/she should be there for you, guiding you through the process at this point. You shouldn't have to stress over every detail.
Glad Jake hasn't killed anyone yet, kudos to him and you for handling this shitey situation. You deserve a few martinis!

I don't really know much about cars - but dont you think that legal fees will add up to more than the cost of a new transmission and repairing the seat?

our lawyer is our friend- he doesn't charge us- expect for maybe $1K
it's going to cost a decent amount of money to fix- depending on what is actually damaged
black smoke and metal came out of the car- and it's not a stock engine- it's alot of after market parts

I still dont understand why you have to pay for it... Why won't your insurance cover it?

Re: I am so furious right now!
I dont think someone taking your car for a joy ride and blowing your transmission is covered under warranty. These guys were probably beating on the car. They must have done some job on it to blow a Saleen engine.

I know you are really upset, and I am sure I would be too. But life is too short...... I would just get the car fixed and try to forget about it. I know - easier said than done!

it's nearly impossible- unless you don't know what you are doing- and try to smoke the tires with the traction control on about 20 times
which is most likely what they did- that will over heat the engine

Re: I am so furious right now!
I would be shocked if Ford covered it under warranty. It isnt normal wear and tear.
Insurance should cover it, and let them sue the garage like PPs said.

Really. I don't think I could do that even if my car was the Sh!t box im driving now. I have a radio with a tv in it. I had it valet at the thatched cottage and they turned it up so loud they blew my speakers and I was Pizzed
Also if they are after market parts are you sure they will be covered under warantee?
