Honestly.. with the letter, i would just Stick to the Facts... not that it's a "cool car" or that your DH was going to be nice enough to drive them around in it- i think that sounds kind of silly and takes away from your argument.

I'm Really sorry that you have to deal with this BS... and i'm sorry if this makes me sound horrible... But, if i got a letter like that under my door from someone who had just moved in a few days ago... i would probably laugh and then throw it out (sorry- just being honest here- if my reaction was based JUST on that letter) Chat Icon

Re: I am so furious right now!

I think it's a great letter but I would take out the part about the parking guys drooling over it and it being a cool sports car featured in Chicago. I think I would just make a blanket statement such as the parking attendants were very excited about the sports car and Jake offered to take them for a spin in the future. Something like that. I think it better to portray yourselves as just typical, run-of-the-mill type people without divulging that's it's such a fancy car.

Otherwise, I think it's a great letter and it's awesome that you are putting that under e/o's door! Nail those SOBs!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I am so furious right now!

thanks for your opinions- but I am not changing the letter-

I didn't really ask for opinions- if you would throw the letter away that's fine

I really only care about reaching the people on the co-op board- and I don't think they will discard it

Does you co-op have monthly meetings? I know at our co-op we do. Maybe you could attend that meeting and address the problem there, so they can put a face along with the issue at hand. Just a suggestion.Chat Icon

I know you didn't ask for opinions on the letter so I won't offer it.

I want to say that I don't think you shouldn't mention Jake offering them a ride to people/police etc. It's offering more information than necessary. I could see an attorney trying to twist it into a miscommunication that they could take the car out for a ride. I would hate for misc information to lessen your case that without his permission they took & destroyed Jake's car.

Also while the co-op isn't "responsible" over the garage, they should have say in who they let manage the garage. If the company is not reputable, it should be addressed.

I could see them attempting to skirt the issue if there were past problems that they didn't address.

Beth, if you dont want to change your letter, then dont! But I was thinking the same thing when I read the part about offering to take the attendants out for a ride. I would hate for an attorney to twist that into your DH giving them permission to go out for a ride on their own.

Hopefully there will be a quick resolution to this problem!

That's actually a really good point of what the above poster wrote.

Sorry for our opinions though but sometimes you dont realize when "extra" and "unnecessary" statements are said in writing........it may hurt you in the long run.

NO OFFENSE ...
I am all for the people being arrested but your letter sounds silly with "COOL " and I wil give you a ride sometime.. also no matter how cool the car was ... it was still stolen whether it be a hunk of crap or a 65,000 car nobody should touch your CAR that is what I would stress.

ETA ... the drooling part is silly

I agree, leave out the drooling, sports car and auto show. The rest is good though.

Have you called your insurance company? They will probably pay for most of the damage and then maybe they can worry about suing the garage or what not. Also, you might be able to get a rental car depending on your coverage.

Re: I am so furious right now!

Beth, no one is trying to add to your stress level, It is a car, it will be fixed

It just seems silly to stress that it is a "cool" car...would it make a difference if it was a POS or would you still be ******?> The point is they stole the car, no matter what kind of car it is ....Chat Icon

thats all anyone was trying to say- not to stress you out, just trying to help you get your desired outcome.

Re: I am so furious right now!

And Beth, I am just giving you a heads up...You may get some co-op board people/neighbors saying, "If it is worth so much, and so prestigious, why was it not garaged?". Just warning you now.

Hope everything works out for you and Jake.

That makes sense too, I hope you get the outcome you want. I would be ****** if someone stole my car, even though it is not nearly as cool as a mustang Chat Icon
