what about Obama letting in all these illegals from Mexico, and not knowing their medical history??

So they brought measles with them? Source?

who knows????

Even IF "they" brought it - guess it's because you hate him so much that you blame Obama for letting "all these illegals in?"
He didn't LET them in - no one LET them in. That's why they are illegal.

As for your reasons for believing the vaccinations caused your son's autism - I don't know that I believe that's "the reason" but, what you saw, you saw. And I can totally understand where you are coming from and why you feel the way you do and I'm sorry that you and your family have had to deal with that - whatever the reason/cause is. I mean that sincerely. Chat Icon

When DS was born - I saw the studies, read the internet and asked the ped about the autism/vaccine link. I was (still am) scared. She said she truly felt that it wasn't the vaccine - but perhaps a fever (as a reaction to the shot) could "set it off" if there was a predisposition. Maybe a kid would just get a fever from an infection and that could do it. No one really knows but as frustrating as it is for me to see these illnesses coming back, I do see why people are scared. I personally do vaccinate, but I have been lucky (knocks on wood) and neither of my DS have had ANY reaction to any of the vaccines at all.

really.....I don't need a study to show that the DTAP TRIGGERED my son's autism, nor do I need to prove to you ladies.I saw it with my own eyes. How does someone go from spiking a fever after every vaccine of 103.3, and brought to the ER...then losing all language, and all eye contact. I don't need s freaking study to prove what I saw. How scared to do you think I was as a mother to witness this.

Lets turn the tables, what would you guys do if this happened to your child??? YOU TELL ME!!!!!!! Ok, so just back oFF!!!!!! Im done. I don't need to prove to anyone. I forgot, if you have an opinion about something, someone will call you ignorant...but I DONT CARE!!!!!

I alsmot was not going to post because of the judgemental people will have, but I will back up everything I witnessed everytime my son was given vaccines......

Autism is horrifying, and I am terrified of my DS developing it, it's scarier for me than just about anything else. I cannot imagine what you and your family have gone through. I sincerely apologize for offending you.

To those who want scientific evidence about vaccines causing Autism...how about the parents who saw their child regress in front of their eyes when given certain shots.
DONT judge unless you are walking in their shoes!!!!!

Wow.... just... Wow... unreal. So unbelievably NOT what really happens. It's been PROVEN to not be causal. It's COINCIDENTAL because the signs of Autism begin at the same age that the vaccinations are given. It is NOT caused by the vaccines.

.

I'm not a parent that has been impacted by this thank god, bud I did want to respond to this because I can't imagine how hurt I would be reading this if I were such a parent.

.

Agreed. So all of these parents who believe vaccines triggered autism, mitochondrial disorders, etc. are just making up fairytales and looking to place the blame somewhere? It's easy to pass judgment or opinion when it wasn't your child who was vaccine injured.

Fwiw, my children are vaccinated, but I do not discredit those who do not vax.

What does Obama & Illegals have anything to do with this?!? This outbreak started at Disneyland, so an entire group of Illegals went to the happiest place on earth and infected the masses?

No, I'm truly trying to understand the illegal thing. Are you saying illegal immigrants brought back measles? Maybe I'm missing something.

No its because everyone wants to go after us parents who are terrified to continue to vaccinate because their child has a lifelong disability.....After everything I did to make him better, I am AFRAID to give him an toxins. I am afraid he will regress again.

Oh. Sorry. I didnt get that at all from the illegals comment. But if you look at my previous posts, I was defending parents who are experiencing things like you are. I dont think kids who suffer from vax reactions get discussed or studied enough.

without reading every single comment if you have an actual legitimate reason why you wont vaccinate your kid fine but if your reason is because you don't feel the need cause those diseases are no longer around then sorry that's a stupid reason and excuse. the only reason they aren't around is because people are vaccinated against them!

I have found that even among my real life friends, there are still people who don't know that not only was the anti-vax "science" debunked, but the fraudulent researcher was INDICTED.

The plural of anecdote is not data, and kids are dying because people think it is.

Re: I have a (possibly dumb) question about vaccinations

I have a child on the autism spectrum. He is fully vaccinated, as is my younger daughter. I don't believe his issues are from vaccines. I know a few people who didn't vaccinate their subsequent children after having one with autism. Those children also have autism. My older sister doesn't vaccinate her kids because she thinks they will get autism. Ironically the youngest displays traits of having autism anyway. I think it's a huge risk to not vaccinate, and not one I would ever be willing to take with my kid's health.

I could be wrong, but didn't we have to show our immunizations before we started school & be up to date with them? I just started DS in Pre School and I had to provide his immunization schedule before he started.

As a parent this makes me very very scared and very angry. Especially with #2 arriving soon. From what I understand it's scientifically proven that vaccinations DO NOT cause developmental delays or underlying issues.

What scientific research has been conducted to prove that these vaccinations cause autism, Aspergers etc?

I'm honestly asking because I never did delayed or opted out of vaccinations, so I never did the research.

The "research" that was shown to cause Autism has been completely debunked. In fact, the physician lost his medical license and was fined (I believe he was fined, I know for a fact he lost his license - he was a UK doctor). He admitted to having fabricated the entire thing. Do some children have allergic reactions to vaccines? Sure, but there are also children who have allergic reactions to foods, vitamins, antibiotics, tylenol, etc.

Exactly this! It drives me nuts when people like Jenny McCarthy add fuel to the fire; especially since all this "research" was false. Some people still run with it - which is what leads to panic and people making ill-informed choices.

This is a good open letter to read: http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2015/02/open-letter-parent-unvaccinated-child-measles-exposure

a big myth nowadays is a lot pro vaxxers think people are anti vaxxers because of autism. of course there are still people out there who believe that vaccines cause autism (and people have direct personal experience) but there are a zillion other things people are legitimately afraid of from vaccinating.

I agree that there are people with many different reasons why they don't vaccinate. I'm just saying that there are public figures that are speaking about things that they do not have the medical background to back up. My question with the people who have direct personal experience with vaccines supposedly causing autism is how do they know that their child would not have been on the spectrum if they had chosen not to vaccinate? Meaning if they didn't vaccinate and still had a child on the spectrum, what would they believe is to blame then? Not trying to start an argument or anything, just saying that I think that people look for something to blame and vaccines seems like the easy choice since there has been noise about it.

Just because you do not have a "medical background" does not mean you shouldn't speak up. Parents are the biggest advocates for their children and should not be quiet because they do not have a medical background. That is preposterous. Anyone who knows how to read can read journal articles just as a Doctor could.

Exactly! Correlation is not causation. It's like saying, I ate at McDonalds this week and doing that caused autism. There have been no studies, none, that show any correlation between vaccines and autism.

I don't think she or anyone can honestly say WHERE this came from. But the point is even if every single able-bodied person here was vaccinated the unvaccinated young or those who can not vaccinate would STILL be at risk because we have so many visitors from other countries who do not follow our CDC guidelines.

Further, as a person with close proximity to said country mentioned.. I will say HELL YES they bring the damned diseases here. They get free unquestioned care here. So yes, its a simple matter of showing up at the hospital and the uneducated family who came with them go to the store and public places exposing everyone unknowingly. We don't make national news but locally we hear about it all the time.

I am not saying that's what happened in Disneyland. No one will ever know. It could have been an Anti-Vax American, a visitor from some third world country, a Mexican or Canadian, or European or an alien from outer space.

We will never know.

I find Obama to be worthless and an embarrassment. I've been clear on that. However, I couldn't blame him for others not choosing to vaccinate their children. After all, most of these rules are already mandatory. Don't like it, find a doctor who agrees (and they are hard to find) or go without pediatric care. Let's not start on schooling... good luck to you there. My kid's bday is 1 week before start of school and I get VERY little leeway to keep her up to date or the schools have my head on a platter and my daughter would be expelled.

I think too many people lump any and all who do not fully vaccinate at the exact moment their doctors tell them to, in the order and fashion they say......as Anti-vax. Without any further discussion to why they can't get those shots or choose to delay those shots. I find that unfair.

I am not anti-vax
I delay all vaccinations to limit the number she gets at any one time. Why, because I choose to and as her mother, I should NOT have to explain any further.

She is fully vaccinated within the guidelines of the CDC and NOT my doctor's time table of convenience. I willingly pay out of pocket because the insurance would prefer to keep them all together as well. As parents we should still have the right to dictate what goes into our children.

ETA: none of my reasons include autism.. another blanket assumption that's annoying.
