I woke up this morning to this update:
We had three cats on the list, and we have three cats-MEMO, MAX, and SIMBA with confirmed rescues. ? I am thankful for all who made this possible. Our hearts break each day with all the cats we are not able to save and we pray for the day when we don't have to fight for their right to live. Take some time and share some of our First Alert and Super Urgent cats because they desperately need your help too. But please, from this moment now through the morning hours, allow grace to settle within you, and know you are a blessing to the cats on death row. Thank you all!

I was hoping that there would only be three kitties on the list again tonight but sadly, no, there are more. At least all were saved last night...lets try to save at least that many again tonight. There are some very friendly cats on the list that were family pets and were sent to die for various BS reasons. Lets help them find homes for the holidays instead of a black bag

DOMINO'S FEATURED CAT: DOTTY
Dotty really deserves a home. She has spent over a month at the ACC. She was put on the list at the beginning of December for no reason and the ACC spared her and moved her over to the adoptions side. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time, and now she DOES have a cold and we all know THAT'S a reason to kill a cat Dotty is such a sweet cat, who is friendly and easy to handle. Let help her find a home tonight, so she wont die in the morning.

Tiffany and her five 5 day old kitties are dead. I guess in this case the ACC thought it would be better to kill the kitty after she had her kittens, rather than while she was pregnant. I cant take this needless killing. Lots of kitties on the list tonight. Some really good cats that need home rather than a needle in the morning.

DOMINO'S FEATURED CAT: MICKEY
This little furbaby has not had a very good start. At five weeks old he has been born, abandoned and is frightened and afraid in the worst place to be frightened and afraid. However, even though Mickey is so young, he obviously is very smart. Yes, there is a very good reason to be scared. Mickey is going to die tomorrow, unless someone steps up to foster this little sweetheart. Lets not let this little baby die in the morning.

DOMINO'S FEATURED CAT: MICKEY
I had a very hard time picking a kitty tonight. I just couldnt make up my mind. First i was going with Friday, then Mitten, then pregnant Bella, but there is something so sad about Mickey's intake that it made me cry. Mickey's owner died which is what I guess "Family Changes" means. But her owner's family states that she cries because she is so scared. Did they ever think that she misses her person??? Maybe that's why she is scared? Because she was used to her human and now her safe person is gone and she is scared and is mourning? Where the heck is the compassion. Once again, this is a reminder to PLEASE make arrangements in your wills for your beloved pets. Dont just ASSume someone will take care of them.

DOMINO'S FEATURED CAT: Jay
It would appear that Jay has been lost for a while. He came in with a wound which the ACC bandaged up. He also came in with some fleas, which the ACC fixed with Advantage. So the ACC is killing this Beginner rated kitty because....? No reason. I guarantee once this kitty starts eating regular meal he is going to fill out and turn into a gorgeous looking cat. He just need the time to do it but if no one steps up he'll be out of time in the morning nad never get a chance

I went through a few days there where it hurt me to look at this thread. My sister has a new kitten in the house that she adopted from someone on the board who found a kitten, and we are all so in love with her. She is a wonderful little girl. I grew up around cats. At one point we had 3 adult cats and about 8 kittens after a cat we had gave birth and we were waiting for them to be old enough to go to their homes. We are such a cat family, and bot hmy husband and daughter are allergic, so right now a cat is out of the question for us. It has been breaking my heart to read these posts and this thread.

It makes me so sad to hear about cat's owners passing away and they end up in the shelter on the kill list. After being someone's pet and companion for so many years....it seems like one of the worst ways to end up there, after knowing love and companionship for so long to be in a cold cage.

But a few nights ago I started sharing cats on FB at night. Just one cat a night, one that stood out to me, like you do, Domino.

I may not be able to adopt a cat but I am happy to share some of their stories and beautiful faces in hopes that someone might be in the situation to take in a new pet and might make an important phone call.

It's the holiday season and I should be in a good mood. I should be (ok, I AM) happy that a rescue saved a lot of cats off of last night's list. But then we're advised that keeping in true Grinch form, NYC AC&C has announced that, while there will be no euth list Saturday night (Christmas Eve), there will definitely be a euth list Sunday night. Yes, ON CHRISTMAS DAY, AC&C has nothing better to do than compile a list of the dogs and cats they plan to kill the following morning. So while our four-legged friends spend Christmas shivering in their cells, please be sure to come on here at 6 pm, and help us share them. With no killing done on Christmas day, the list Christmas night will probably be huge :(

Here is their email:
The shelters will be closed on Sunday, December 25 and Sunday, January 1. Therefore, there will be no At Risk Lists on Saturday, December 24 and Saturday, December 31. Lists will be sent at the regular times on the 25th and 1st.

Then to top it off, I look at tonight's list and I want to punch someone in the face. There is a whole SLEW of owner surrenders. Here's my advice, if you're thinking of BRINGING YOUR CAT TO A SHELTER stay eff away from me. If your cat is sick then take them to a vet. If your cat scratches a little then leave it alone. If you have no time, then find some. I dont want to hear it. YOU TOOK ON THE RESPONSIBILITY TO ADOPT A PET. CATS SHED. CATS POOP. CATS GET SICK. CATS HAVE DANDER. You know that going in. Call all your relatives. Hound all your friends. Post every single day on facebook. Do WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO to find them a good home just DONT BRING YOUR PET TO A KILL SHELTER....PLEASE....otherwise you will have their blood on your hands....YOU will will have murdered them just as if you had stuck them with the needle yourself. So...after FIFTEEN YEARS, this owner developed an allergy to their cat and dumped this poor sweet kitty at the shelter. This FIFTEEN year old cat who has only known the comfort of a warm lap and food three times a day, has been shoved in a cold cage and it going to die tomorrow. PLEASE...someone PLEASE..... help La Nina. She deserves to live out her remaining days somewhere safe.

There are six cats on the list tonight and to honest, they should all be able to find homes. There is an absolute GORGEOUS maine coon on the list tonight that truly does not deserve to be there. Remember, there will be no list tomorrow since they dont kill kitties on Christmas morning. They do however, kill them the morning after. If I am not able to get on here timely, just remember that the Kill List link refreshes. So please dont wait for me! Get a jump start. I am praying that the list one be long to compensate for their "day off."

I was right in the middle of typing up my updates tonight when I lost my power. I was concerned that I wouldnt get on here but I'm back to help save the kitties. Even though I wasnt able to update the past few days, I hope you all came on and looked at the lists. The last time I updated, Cali was my featured cat. i am happy to report that she was rescued and is safe Unfortunately, there are a bunch of kitties that are not so lucky. There are a lot of owner surrenders. Why why why would you give up your kitty to a kill shelter?

I had a lot of kitties to choose from tonight but something about this kitty just grabbed me. I think its that she almost found a new home but wasnt given a chance to settle in and was brought to the ACC for being scared. I think if the people who had found her had given her a little more time she would have settled in quckly. Her notes from the ACC state that when she was first brought in she was hissing and yet by the next day she was allowing all petting and handling. Regardless of how close she came to a new home, she is going to die tomorrow because she was scared. Wont someone step up and cherish Cherish the way she deserves?

I wanted to remind everyone that in addition to the nightly euth list, there is also a Super Urgent list. Many of the times this is where the cats are listed just before being placed on the list. I swear there should be a common sense test for those seeking to be pet owners. Friend looks very sad. So sad that he is breaking my heart. This big mush of a kitty was returned after 2 days due to a pet conflict....with a bird. I dont know why the pet owner thought he'd get along with her canary or parrot or whatever other type of feathered creature she had but #1 cat typically DONT get a long with birds and #2 two days is certainly not enough time to determine that it wont work out. Most adopted then returned animals never go back to the adoptions side. There are immediately placed on the death list. Should poor, sweet cat be put to sleep because he was following his natural instincts and was adopted by an idiot? Please share Friend. Friend needs a friend to save him otherwise he will die in the morning.

Oscar came in as a stray but he is a little too big to be a stray. 14lbs It should be noted that there is nothing wrong with this cat. No shelter cold. No broken limbs. No medical issues of any kind. Just a scared, lost kitty, looking for someone to love him.

I dont know how many of Jackie's six years have been spent on the streets, but enough for someone to have neutered him and set him out on the streets again. He certainly looks like he has had a rough life and deserves to finally find some love and a warm home. He tolerates all handling and will appreciate finally being safe.



Red
Red has a UTI and a blockage and needs a vet IMMEDIATELY. He should NOT have to suffer at the ACC anymore. He is in pain and needs help. He can't even sit. As much as I hate to see animals in pain, a UTI is TREATABLE and shouldnt mean death for Red in the morning.

I wish I had more time to devote to this list tonight but my 2 year old decided to wake at 4:30 this morning AND NOT NAP On top of that, I see the list tonight and there are 17 cats on it...I was hoping for a light night...guess the ACC has nothing else to do on a holiday then kill kitties. Most of the ones tonight at first glace appear to be aggressive, but if you look closer you'll see that many are just scared. Their owners have stated that their friendly, they're just freaked out from being in a cage and being surrounded by the smell of death. This is your first chance to save a kitty in 2012, please step up! The cats need you.

This makes me so sad. Apparently someone found Lilly and her sibling and took them in. But after a week they have deemed Lilly a problem because she is not using the litterbox (who knows how long she was on the street) and only gets along with her sibling (1 week is NOT enough time for a cat to aclimate). So since she has been labeled a problem cat, the ACC is going to kill her. She is friendly and does not have a cold. I wish I could take Lilly

Update: Clearly I did not read her intake closely enough....SHE IS PREGNANT...multiple fetuses palpated. This would also explain why she was hissey towards other cats that she didnt know. Now I feel even WORSE...pregnant mama with unborn babies will die tomorrow. I cant take it

Well there is nothing to indicate that Lilly B. the pregnant kitty from last night is still alive. Typically there would be comments from any rescue organization indicating that they requested that she be pulled. I wish I had better news.

I couldnt post one without the other. They were both surrendered together for the same BS laundry list reasons: Personal problem, moving, allergies, family changes. Jeez, dont get me started on these irresponsible pet owners. These two pretty black and white kitties are going to die tomorrow because their owner dropped them off at a kill shelter instead of finding proper home for them. My Miso is a black and white goof ball and these two kitties are breaking my heart

There are 21 cats on the list tonight. 21 cats that are going to die because they have colds. Colds that they did not have when then came in. Some are scared (do you blame them?). Some try to flee (again, do you blame them?). Many are labeled as strays but they should all be given a chance to become someone's pet again and warm a lap or two. Please pass their info along. You never know whose home is missing some kitty love

There has still been no word on poor Lilly B. and her unborn babies. There is very little hope that she is still alive. However, her sibling has now appeared on the list. It is clear that Mimi is the cat that the uninformed person was referring to when they said only gets along with sibling. Mimi and Lilly's intake are virtually identical. We failed Lilly, let us not fail her "brother."

So tonight I am sick...not just sick of the list, very sick...fever...congested...sore throat. I wanted to go straight to bed, but I came on here first. i should have gone to bed. Yes, as I feared, pregnant Lilly B. is gone...there is also no indication that her brother Mimmi from last night is still alive. May they both RIP together with Lilly's unborn babies

If you are up for some "light" reading, here is a blog about the ACC. There are many first hand volunteer accounts. It is very sad....make sure to poke around all the links. I didnt find it to be that user friendly but did give a lot of insight as to the goings on.

I'm sorry...this is murder...plain and simple. This cat is not sick. Nope...no shelter cold. This cat is not even aggressive. Criss' only crime for getting a NH Only behavior rating and being put on the euth list is: tense/nervous. Seriously? You're going to kill a perfectly healthy cat because she is tense and nervous after being poked and prodded and shoved in a cage with the smell of death all around her? Seriously ACC W*T*F?????? Someone please step forward for this beautiful cat and dont let the ACC murder her tomorrow
