Re: Naming a child after a grandparent
Giovanni is named after my grandfater. It was actually DH idea to do this, as my grandfather is the only grandfather DH ever knew. We knew we wanted to use the G, because all of the grandparents and DHs name in italian begins with G, but he really wanted to honour my grandfather

Re: Naming a child after a grandparent
Elizabeth Grace - Elizabeth was DH's mom who passed away in 2006. Grace is one of my grandmother's names who is still alive.
For the next baby, if it's a girl we are going to try to use Dianne as a middle name after my mom who is still alive.
For a boy it is going to either be:
matthew paul - Paul was my brother's name who passed away
or charles michael - my dad's name (still alive) and DH's Dad's name who is deceased.

Re: Naming a child after a grandparent
DS has DH's first name and the middle name Angelo from DH's grandpa
If i have a girl one day it will probably be Vincenza (since I liked the name) but it happens to be my MIL name (coincidence)....now, years later, I want to change my mind and DH wont let me

I didn't name Jack after my father.
One of the priests who came to talk yesterday at my grandfathers wake said how important it is for some people to have their first names passed on and it got me thinking. I think I would def. name my next son Frankie. Don't know how DH feels about it but he'll have to deal
Did you/Would you name a child after a parent?
haha thats my brother and das name I am maybe gona name my next son that too...I have also seen it for a girl and think its adorable...

Re: Naming a child after a grandparent
We didn't name DS after any grandparents. My dad's name is too Italian for me (Salvatore) and i'm just not crazy about it. My FIL's name is Frank and we have to many of them in DH's family (his Dad is Frank, His brother's name is frank, his nephew's name is Frank and his BIL's name is Frank) I told DH if he wanted DS named after him and he said that he wanted our son to have his own name. So we went with Matthew which is a name I have always liked. We picked Thomas as his middle name because that was the name of DH's cousin that died on 9/11. He was a firefighter.
However if DS was a girl then we were going to use my grandmother's name as the middle name.

Re: Naming a child after a grandparent
We are all about family names. My DD is Ellen Mary...Ellen is my paternal grandmother (Granny) who I adore and is still with us, and also happened to be DH's paternal grandmother's name as well. My Granny was just floored and feels so special. Mary is my DH's mother's name. I did that more for DH. She's a good woman, but I could have picked other names I like more. Of course, now I can't imagine my beautiful DD having any other name.
Our little man that is on his way will be a III, so there you go, Dad and Grandpa in one fell swoop.
If we have another boy then we will use my Dad's name and DH's uncle's, Bruce Andrew. For another girl...not as sure. I like my other Grandma's name, Elizabeth and my own middle name, Anne...but that's a big IF about having a 3rd. Lemme just get thru having #2! haha...
