Thank you Michelle for starting this thread!

1. Name - Dina

2. Names and ages of your DCs - Adam, 6.5 months old

3. How much do you want to lose? - 30 lbs

4. Specific Challenges you face - finding time to work out because DH works late, DS doesn't STTN so I feel exhausted all the time, I'm a SAHM and find myself eating more throughout the day than when I was working.

5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy) - I know a lot of Mediterranean recipes which tend to be healthier, used to do South Beach diet so I can help if anyone is looking to follow that diet, and I'm an excellent cheerleader/listener if you want to vent :)

6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose) - to feel good about the way I look again, to just be healthier overall, and to find a way to manage my time better.

7. Anything else you might want to add
Thanks for starting this thread! Good luck to everyone!

Dina I would love some Mediterranean recipes. My mom is Greek, but the only recipes I know is Baklava and Kourambiedes Chat Icon

And since I joined up on this yesterday morning- I wanted something to go with my lunch yesterday, and instead of grabbing a bag of chips, I went to the caf and made a nice little salad from the salad bar. For me, accountability is a key factor.

I like the idea of using this thread to be held accountable...otherwise, it is way too easy for me to make excuses.

I ran today! 40 minutes with the jogging stroller.

Julie-since it was nice out, I didn't try my treadmill. I prefer outside when I can because my treadmill situation is super sketchy Chat Icon It's in my basement, which has very low ceilings and is a definite hitting-my-head hazard. One of these days I will suck it up. But I keep picturing me hitting my head and passing out and DD screaming for 8 hours until DH comes home. Yes, I have an overactive imagination Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh, and here are my healthy snacks: apples, bananas, dry cereal, almonds, pumpkin seeds with dried fruit, crackers or pita with hummus.

You are lucky that you have space inside to run! Outside is nice, but you are at the mercy of the weather. If only my basement ceiling was a few inches higher I wouldn't be so worried about running down there Chat Icon

3. How much do you want to lose? I have 20lbs to go to get to my goal weight, and 40lbs to get back to my ideal weight (my PP weight).

4. Specific Challenges you face-
Temptation is all over my house (food-wise). I joined a gym and can't find the motivation to get there after watching the kids by myself all day.

5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy)- Not sure.

6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose)-
I just want to be able to look in the mirror again and not be completely disgusted and disappointed with what I see. I had 2 children back to back and it REALLY did a number on my body. I don't even recognize myself anymore. I want to be confident and feel pretty again.

Marci-I get into the city at least 1x a month if not more-I would be happy to meet up and walk! Most of my doctors are in NYC.

That would be great! I work M-Th during the day, but I have Fridays off - I'd love to get together for a nice long walk! Let me know the next time you'll be in the area.

Sandwiches are easy and if you get the right bread, very point friendly.

I also like making things for dinner that make for good lunch the next day - turkey chili, cous cous or quinoa chicken salad (grilled chicken mixed with cous or quinoa, cucumbers, tomatoes, sauteed garlic and onions, scallions, parsley, salt, pepper, balsamic, lemon juice and a wee bit of olive oil), steak salad (grilled flank steak or filet with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, etc. in a very friendly dressing) - these also tend to be things that taste better the next day.

My problem lately is finding the time and energy to cook dinner in the first place - work has been so busy and stressful and I'm a stress eater so I came home tonight, played with the baby, put her to bed, and had a slice of pie Chat Icon. I haven't even had dinner yet. I think I may have to go on South Beach again since I clearly have no ability to eat sugar or carbs in moderation.

And since others asked, my favorite WW snack - 100 calories hostess chocolate cupcakes - only 1 point b/c they're high in fiber.

For lunch, i like to have the morningstar farm chicken grillers (they are 1 point on WW). It actually tastes pretty good.

I also have had the special K crackers for a snack (17 of them are 90 calories). They are also yummy...

Re: **Official PP Weight Loss/Support Thread**

I am so happy that more people are joining this thead!!! I will update to add our new members tomorrow!!

I am happy that this thread will make us accountable.

I made sure to walk today-I had back spasms because of this lousy weather we have tonight and I walked the mall with my mom. I think I want to get a pedometer to see what I am doing. Tomorrow I plan on doing the treadmill.

I did eat too many carbs today and I picked at too much junk. However, I went to Whole Foods to pick up healthier things to eat. I don't want to deny myself things I want, but I really subscribe to Bethenny Frankel's Naturally Thin principle-I am trying to taste the bad food, limit it and focus on wholesome natural unprocessed food.

I am going to post some pics tomorrow of myself so I can refer back. To make myself better, I will also post the pic on the day I gave birth, over 70lbs ago. But I do have a lot to lose still because of the weight I gained from a year of steroids.

Re: **Official PP Weight Loss/Support Thread**

As for snacks, before I started my elimination diet, I would have a slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and banana, cottage cheese, string cheese and an apple, almonds.

Now that I am dealing with a milk allergy here is what I do:

Homemade guacamole with a handful of tortilla chips
Hummus and Stacey's Pita Chips (they are dairy and soy free)
Coconut Milk Yogurt with granola (nut free)-this is also a breakfast I do
Slice of bread with Earth's Balance Soy Free Vegan butter
Fruit ( I will usually eat some Boar's Head ham or turkey with it to balance the sugars)
Salad with dressing of balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard and EVOO
Imagine brand Butternut Squash Soup
A handful of wheat thins (they are okay for our diet)
Tomato Soup

Re: **Official PP Weight Loss/Support Thread**

Okay, can we talk about exhaustion and motivation?

I am motivated in my head. Very motivated. I want to look a certain way. But I am soo tired!!! Fall on my face tired! DD STTN and I am going to the doctor to get checked Tuesday (I have hypothyroidism so I wonder if I need more medication), but if nothing is wrong, I wonder how I can get myself going!

Also, what can I do besides walking and the treadmill? I am not a runner, but I will try. DD takes two naps, but they range in time and lately I sleep during her morning nap.

I need more time in the day!! And turbo coffee!

I agree with needing more time and coffee! Could you do any DVD's? I have a walking DVD. It's kind of cheesy, but it's actually a decent workout for when I can't get outside or I just want to do something different. Do you have Wii Fit? There are some games on there that are a decent as well. I used that a lot the winter before I got pregnant.

As far as her naps...I am thinking if I am doing something in my basement (treadmill, video, Wii), I will let her sleep in her bouncy down there, and then if she wakes up, I will just talk to her in her bouncy until I am finished. I haven't done that before. I'm not sure if she will just sit there and chill out while I am finishing my workout, but I will try it out and see if it works.

1. Name: Marci
2. Names and ages of your DCs: Lucy, almost 9 months
3. How much do you want to lose? 25-35 pounds
4. Specific Challenges you face: hypothyroidism (my thyroid has been a little out of whack lately), working mom with little free time and energy, not a huge fan of most vegetables
5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy): I have done WW and am awesome at cheating it but that's not really helpful here, lol. I'm pretty good at changing existing recipes/foods to make them healthier
6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose): To wear a bikini and look and feel good about me in it
7. Anything else you might want to add: I would love a workout buddy, but I live in the city where naturally very few LIFers live. I also cannot blame the baby on my weight issues - I am just about at pp weight and currently up from where I was at 3 weeks pp - I actually lost weight from pregnancy because of terrible food aversions. This weight gain has been accumulating for a decade or so and it's been bothering me for that long too. I'd really like to finally get to a good place with my body after being so miserable about it for so long. But between working long hours and the baby and DH, it is hard to find the time and I'm not really willing to sacrifice sleep to exercise so I really need to work on my diet and fitting in some activity on weekends, etc. If only I could find my motivation - hoping you ladies can help!

I like the Wii as well. Some of the strength exercises work wonders! Not the greatest for cardio, but it is better then nothing.
